The Metabo C12RSH2(S) sliding miter saw recently went on sale (Dec 2021) and people all over the U.S. bought these up. In this video I go through the assembly of this saw and review the features of the saw.
Enjoy your saw!

Good video. Helpful. Just bought one of these. One comment.... when squaring the blade to 0 degrees, I wouldn't move the yellow arrow; rather, loosen the bolts on the fence and square the fence to the blade so when locked into 0 degrees... you are square.

I was really nervous about cutting into the guard, but watching it done here really calmed my anxieties.

Agreed. That's the reason I watched this as I was unsure about cutting a groove in the guard as the manual put it. Thanks for the demo.

I’m replacing a very deep Ryobi 10” saw with this one this weekend no appreciate the assembly video….lol. I picked up the 36-725T2 and absolutely love it. It’s out performed other saws and definitely punches above it’s weight class.

I saw another set-up video for the same saw since I got one. He squared the blade with an adjustment screw on the throat at the bottom behind the fence.

Thanks for posting. Bought this same one on sale a couple months ago. Ha ent used it yet for my project but was trying to figure out the guard cut (I'm sire it was just me not knowing). This video was very helpful. Also making me realize I may need to adjust the blade.

Thanks for doing this video. Very informative! I just unboxed mine yesterday. You're right. It's a behemoth! I had some difficulties setting it up. BUT eventually got it. A couple of questions. 1. I was wondering why you didn't use the set screw for adjusting the bevel to 90. (but when I got there the marker was slightly off zero.) 2. What type of coupling (size/type) dis you use to connect your vacuum to the dust port?
@TheWebbRanch

1. There's a set screw? Lol 2. I used a rubber couoling from the plumbing department at lowes

Thx for your rapid reply!! I found the instructions less than adequate Anyway, yes there is a set screw buried under the head. You have to move the head to the left quite a bit to it. There is only one set screw. There are also stop bolts on both sides for setting the 45 deg stop. Thanks for the suggestion on the vacuum line coupling. Curious why Metabo didn't design it to accommodate std hoses and couplers.

Hey everyone in order to adjust the tilting head and 90° to the table there’s a 4 mm set screw located on the right hand back (as you face the machine) do not try adjusting zero with the clamping lever. Study the machine very carefully before you start using it try to figure out where all the shop adjustments are I discovered that little screw during my investigation.

Tips and Test: It's better to know than not to know. Important to know if you would like to saw with precision. (avoid torsion as much as possible)! Always choose a Miter saw with a handle positioned in a VERTICAL line above the saw blade. Everything must be aligned, slide rails, handle, and saw blade,it is much better this way the blade will not tilt. Because there is some torsion in the aluminum housing . And choose an engine with softstart on it to prevent wear of the gear and worm shaft. It is very important that everything is aligned. Here are some examples to show how the handle must be positioned above the blade. First option: handle vertical positioned above the saw blade. Bosch gcm 800 sj / Bosch gcm 8 sjl / Evolution rage 3 / FESTOOL KS 60 / Bosch GCM 8 SDE / FESTOOL KS 60 E KAPEX / Metabo KGSV 72 Xact/ Bosch PCM 8 SD / Hitachi C10FSH / Ridgid MS255SR 10-inch / Evolution Fury3-S / Evolution R255SMS / Metabo HPT C10FSBS / Hitachi C10FSB / Hitachi C10FS. Second optie: handle horizontal positioned above the saw blade / Evolution R185SMS / Evolution F255SMS / Evolution RAGE3R255 SMS3 . (This also is the case with the Miter saw without the slide rails). (If you want). You can test it yourself at home if there is torsion in the aluminum housing. Step-1. First you make a saw cut from +-5 mm deep in to a flat piece of wood about +- 20 mm thick to this with the normal handle positioned on the right side of the Miter saw (the wood it will remain in place until the test is completed). Step-2. Then repeat this by pushing the saw blade down with your hand or finger on the aluminum protective cover were the saw blade is cased in. Just now only do this without the running engine. Step-3. Now you can see if the saw blade will be positioned in or next to the saw cut. If the saw blade is (+- 0,2 / 0,5 mm) next to the saw cut then there is torsion in the aluminum housing. (test is completed). Conclusion: Therefor it is much better to choose a Miter saw with the handle positioned VERTICAL in line above the saw blade. The second option is the handle positioned HORIZONTAL in line above the saw blade. Remember this, the test is only about torsion and nothing else how further away the handle is from the saw blade how more chance of torsion in the aluminum housing, you better not go for that. (the choices are yours). Also with a cheap slide miter saw it is still better the handgriff in line a above the saw blade than on the right side. Maybe they will make it someday then we have a winner... P.S. When you measure the vertical 90 degrees angle square (Digital Level Box) of you're sawblade don't forget that there is always some torsion in the aluminum housing.

Thanks for your review... I'm looking for a saw that comes without the need for adjustments as I'm a hobbyist using it for art frames. I noticed this saw at my local Lowes and they had it stored in a box flipped on its side which I thought wasn't very good...

Many thanks for your efforts producing the video and your honest assessment. As a novice I also recently purchased the same saw due to the sale, however during the black Friday sale I purchased the Dewalt 12" 779 Dual Bevel with a free stand for $399. Keep in that in mind even though we both purchased the Metabo at a fantastic price based on your knowledge would you have paid more for the Dewalt? Thank you again for your insights. Take care.

To be honest, I think I'd stick with this one. It's not perfect but for the price I got it for, I am super happy. It is a HUGE machine, however. After installing it and using it I went back to the big box store and lo and behold it is the LARGEST miter saw they had on display. The size is my biggest gripe as Grace uses this even more than I do and its a bit much to change angles foe her.

I have the cheaper 10” version of this saw and also hated the adjustment controls. All my other tools are Milwaukee and they are absolutely the best of all manufacturers when it comes to making things easier than other brands. They just seem to rethink everything and I love their buttons. The Metabo on the other hand doesn’t have the detail I like but it’s a good saw for the price. Once aligned I have no complaints. I looked for this behemoth and unfortunately managers in my are don’t feel the need to follow national norms on clearance items. Talked to one and they just threw out a price the felt was lower than the original but nowhere near what other stores are doing. I’d have to do some driving.

I'm a Milwaukee guy too but this Metabo HPT saw is actually the same as the older Hitachi branded saw that I got over 8 yrs ago-this is a great saw As far as Milwaukee 18V I have also been converting many of my Milwaukee and Makita 18V over to the Metabo HPT 36V tools as they are outperforming and giving me much more flexibility, runtime and lower cost 36V tools that I recommend over Milwaukee and Makita and big yellow(each of these can also be plug into AC with the adapter-total game changer and less batteries needed)36V 10" mitre, 10" jobsite table saw, 1/2 full size plunge router, SDS Max rotary hammer, Hammer drill, Recip saw(most powerful in industry, Circe saw, portable band saw and soon to be out Cordless/AC compressor ACME , Lowes Menards best place to get them but Walmart sells them as well online-usually using ACME as there go between

Must people blame the manufacturer, LOL 😆 try adjusting a double bevel sliding model! I believe you must set the 90° first, lift the saw from the front on its back, underneath you'll see more adjustments just for that, there's YT videos on how to do it! But am sure by now you already figured out! I get frustrated just the same, but that's how I keep on learning, I buy a tool and a day later they'll come out with a new model! 🤯 good luck!

my saw arrived w the blade incorrectly aligned, very frustrated w this. at 13:40 my blade hits the right edge of this guard into the metal, it will NOT go into the plastic as its supposed to. any ideas on how to move the blade over w.out messing up the alignments
@TheWebbRanch
@TheWebbRanch 9 ай бұрын
I'd remove the blade, check that it's perfectly flat and reinstall it and make sure it's sitting correctly on the arbor. Check the zero clearance support to make sure it's not misaligned and if none of that works you may have damage on the saw somewhere

@dorse72
@dorse72 8 ай бұрын
yes, figured out that the entire blade guard aluminum extrusion that comes from the base w/plastic guards was bent to one side. took a large rubber hammer and pounded it back straight, that was the reason for it hitting the blade when i lowered it down. bad quality control, not thrilled with the saw, really takes some getting used to going from 10 to 12", but its getting better. a plastic guard already broke after 1 month, so not good there either. but it does cut nice and you need to spend a day to get it set up straight, frustrating, but its running good now

if the saw is setup correctly and the blade is hitting the metal side of the guard or close to it, your blade guard extrusion is off, sorry but it is bent. the blade should ride in the center of the plastic guards, tap it with a dead blow hammer till its lined up@@donkelly6510

I have this saw and it is (after a lot of adjusting) square at the fence... but as you use the sliding feature it really goes out of square. It's a nightmare to cut bigger pieces of wood - the reason you buy a sliding saw. It's also very hard to keep the saw square. Controls are finicky. Disappointing!
