It's so nice to know I'm not alone in this. Doctors treated it as if it were placebo. I've been on a strict ketogenic diet for three years. I had an unspecified mental disorder that caused me extreme irritability and rage bursts, with diagnosed major depressive disorder and generalized anxiety that wouldn't let me live a normal, healthy life. It is 95% in remission since the third week on the diet. I even get emotional sometimes over the fact that I'm free of the incapacitating symptoms. I am so grateful that I decided to lose weight the ketogenic route, it accidentally changed my life.

Okay, comming back here a year later. I've been diagnosed with BPD and I'm on a journey of recovery. I still think the ketogenic diet is the foundation of the calmer state of mind which allows me to slowly reshape the way I relate to the world through DBT (mind you, mindfulness is a metabolic intervention precisely because it allows you back into a non-threatening reality - fight or flight hormones cease to actively induce chronic metabolic dysfunction).

Their story is so much like mine. I did the research bc I was desperate. Even educated my VA doctors who after doing their own research endorsed the diet for treatment of my bipolar. It works for me. And I can feel it. My brain feels it. My body feels it. I am so grateful I found it when I did

Truly inspirational. This is day 8 for me on the ketogenic diet. I've been battling clinical depression for almost a decade. 3 years ago I tried the diet and was in complete shock when I felt most if not all the depressive symptoms go aways from day 7. I couldnt sustain it since I had too much on my plate (doing a masters degree on the way for a phd). 8 days ago I decided to give it another go. Iam really optimistic...but as Mrs. Baszucki said we tend to experience alot of false excitement before we reach a solution. Pray for me everyone.

My energy and sleep really improve and I reduced my sleep medication as a result of that. However my interest in things I used to love was just not there. It only recently improved one I increased Lamictal again to 200mg from 100mg (I had reduced it before starting keto for different reasons). Clarity of mind and memory(one of the big reason for me starting keto) is still not there.@@ydnassukyaj9131

@@ydnassukyaj9131 sorry for the late reply. I did the diet for 3 and half months and was very strict about it. I honestly was sad and a bit disapointed when i decided to stop. I didnt feel any of the mentioned benefits especially the ones I was hoping to improve in: mood and cognitive function. I though it was because I was not FAT adapted but later after giving it 3.5 months I had to accept the fact that that was not the issue. I had to accept the fact that the keto diet was not for me. Im happy to help if you have any questions, ill try to keep my eye on the notifications so I dont take time in replying.

I am thrilled to see this testimony to the benefits of low carb diets even in the mental health field. My endocrinologist gave me a food list for reactive hypoglycemia symptoms 15 years ago restricting sugars and starches. I was 52 years old then. His symptom list for hypoglycemia includes anxiety, panic attacks, insomnia, depression and nightmares. My symptoms included those plus nner shaking and a rapid heartbeat occasionally accompanied by almost passing out. I went to the ER once when this happened. My heart was fine. Thank God I found his diet. It is integral to my well being and functionality.

Thank you for promoting hope for those who suffer from mental illness and for those who love them! My family has experienced an unbelievably horrific experience from not getting help for my grandson's schizophrenia. I wish I had known about this hope sooner.

Can you please get your son to do a power point presentation please? It would be helpful to hear from him with the exact dates, meds, how he felt, before he got sick, during illness and after, with photos short video clips too. Basically I want an hour long documentary that he himself made 😊 Or post a link please if it already exists. And I really would like for you guys to also have visual aids for the next conference if it’s possible(like a power point with pictures) Thank you!

It took great courage to stand at that podium, and great wisdom to share the details of your journey. Your words resonate deeply with thousands if not millions of parents in the world! Thank you.

Thank you so much for sharing. My 24yo son has schizophrenia and I’m wondering if you know of any doctors in Australia (or online) who can help treat his condition with a keto diet while also monitoring his medications?
@metabolicmind Жыл бұрын
Please look at the directory at www.diagnosisdiet.com/directory. If you cant find anyone there, you can look for a dietitian or coach who may be able to help and coordinate care with a treating psychiatrist. You can try this site www.dietdoctor.com/low-carb/doctors

Keto helped me with depression a lot at a time, the problem was it was not sustainable digestively (I could not process as much fat). If there would be some more reasonable therapy based on it, it would be awesome

You bring up a good point that everyone has different dietary likes and tolerances. Some people try eating a low carb diet and supplementing with exogenous ketones, although we need data to show if this is safe and effective.

Sadly, not much has changed for the better, in the 2 years since this video was made (today is October 15, 2024). Are you aware that the NIH (National Institute of Health) receives Billions in funding conducting research that benefits pharmaceutical companies, when they should be conducting research on keto and carnivore diets, both of which have helped and reversed many illnesses like Type 2 diabetes, IBS, Rheumatoid Arthritis, depression & anxiety in addition to the bipolar disorder that thankfully worked for this family’s son. RFK Jr. wants to change all that. And put an end to the corrupt hold that big pharma has on all the agencies that are supposed to be helping & protecting us. RFK will have the ability to do that, but only if Trump is elected. Until then, insurance companies and big pharma will decide on the information that's ALLOWED to be used by doctors to treat diseases. And it won’t be with diet. There’s no money in that. But there’s lots of money in keeping people on pharmaceuticals forever, even if they don’t work very well (or at all) One party tried to stop RFKJr, but Trump embraced him and welcomes him (and Elon Musk and Tulsi) into his upcoming administration. But all that can only happen if Trump wins on November 5th.
