Brave New World is easily my favorite Iron Maiden album since Bruce has returned. 6 bands thanksgiving I can’t live without would be; Metallica- of course! Judas Priest Iron Maiden Ozzy - I actually prefer his solo material over Sabbath Kiss Ghost - that is correct, I like the band that much! Great topic buddy!

Great episode. Love the first Testament album. Iron Maiden is probably my favorite band of all time. Senjutsu is my favorite album after Bruce and Adrian returned. Brave New World is great but some of the weaker songs on it really don’t do anything for me. Senjutsu is their only 21st century album that I put up against their classics from the 80s.

I just discovered ROTTING CHRIST from Greece. Yes, yes, I know I have been in a cave, they have been around since the 90's. Not particularly a fan of black metal, and the name kept me from being all that interested in looking into them. Amazed that at this late in my metal fan game I am still finding bands that make me want to go out and grab all of their back catalogue. ROTTING CHRIST defies genre placement. Emphasis on melody, infusion of eclectic influence, talent dumping out of their hands and fingers. KZbin has certainly changed the game for me, being in my mid 40's I grew up in a time where if you wanted to hear something you had to hunt down the physical medium of recording to hear it, not so much anymore. If it wasnt for older brothers and older kids from school who would share cool music they found, I dont know how life would have turned out. Being from farm country in the middle of nowhere, info on kickass metal was not readily available. Always love your video releases Darcy, thanks very much!

Really enjoyed this one Darcy. Great topic and good to hear your history with the bands. Restless is a fantastic album, I was very late to it, only heard it in the past decade but one of my favourite albums of all time. The new Priest and Saxon are great follow ups to what are arguably some of their strongest albums. Yeah Maiden nail it with Brave new world, possibly my fav album of theirs, top 2 anyways. I think my 6 bands would be Maiden, Saxon, Priest, Blaze Bayley, Rush and probably Alice Cooper or Budgie.

I bought Saxon's Wheels of Steel and Iron Maiden's self-titled debut on the same day in 1980, both on the appearance of the album covers and after having zero exposure to their music. I just knew they'd be metal! I needed some new bands after KISS wimped out on Unmasked and John Bonham died, effectively killing off Led Zep. Shortly thereafter, I bought JP's Unleashed in the East, and Accept's Breaker after a few of my friends turned me on to them. The '80's got off to a great start and continued on to this very day, some lulls and low points notwithstanding. Looking forward to Invincible Shield and Humanoid!

I don't know what to think about Accept just with Wolf as an original member in the band, i will have to listen to the record firstand then decide if i will get it or not...... I will have to wait a little to get the new Saxon (cd-Lp) it's way to expensive down here. Btw to me "Brave...." and "Dance...." are probably my favorite from the reunion with Bruce. cheers and be well

Mr. Darcy to me is DOTF album the quintessential heavy metal record. Everything is absolutely perfect on this record. Brutal riffage, dark ballad (Night Comes Down), Majestic one (Sentinel), controversial ones (Eat me Alive, Jawbreaker and even heavy stomper (Love Bites). Kickaz Halford's vocals, precise Hammer Dave on drums and even album cover art work somehow reveals whats ahead. I may be branded a madman, but I do not care. To me its on par with Powerslave. Now Maiden fans go and beat me. Stay healthy and thank you for this interesting vid

As you know Testament is my favourite thrash band but Overkill comes a close second. I didn't hear either bands though until the very early 90s as before that I was pretty much into the Glam metal. I love Maiden but after Brave New World I lost interest in anything that came out after. Love your stories from your musical journey mate😀🤘

Saxon is the band that lead me to your channel initially Darcy! I knew of them and a few of their more well known songs but you had a ranking video that made me want to get their discography. I can't stop spinning their new album. So damn good. Not surprised with any of your choices. I thought I'd see more German representation asides from Accept lol. My list would be Iron Maiden, Saxon, Helloween, Powerwolf, Riot.

AMOLAD. Absolute beast of a classic Maiden album. Iron Maiden is my favorite band of all time, and I do hold the classic 80's releases in a generally higher place in my ratings, but some of those post Bruce return albums since Brave New World have been jaw dropping. Certain bands, Maiden, Slayer, AC/DC and Death, I like all of their releases, at least to one degree or another. What I'm saying is, even at the record that I consider weakest of their catalogues, I still like it a lot.

Good Episode Darcy. If I had to pick six artist/bands from the Hard and Heavy side of things, well that's hard but ill have a go. 1: from my Childhood - AC/DC I grew up as they grew up. 2: Maiden of course probably my Favourite band since the mid 80s. 3: Judas Priest, the first heavy band I got into in the late 70s & early 80s, Priest and maiden are neck and neck. 4: Queensryche up until Empire which is OK, the latter albums are also pretty good, I've reexamined that mid period and its not as terrible as I once thought but not great either. For a while there QR were vying with Maiden and Priest as my fav. 5: Going an artist over a band and choosing Yngwie Malmsteen. I've always been a shred lover and most of the stuff from Yngwie from the 80s I love. I even like most of his entire catalogue including the latter stuff as I love his sound, I dont own a lot of his latter records cause I'm not sure they offer anything new over the early stuff but I still enjoy it when I hear it. Now number 6 could be any of half a dozen bands or more. Ill stick with my nostalgia thing and go W.A.S.P. Yes they served up some sub par records in the late 90s & early 2000s but the 80s stuff and even the latter stuff is great. You didn't say I had to listen to the entire catalogue and even maiden and priest have a couple of stinkers.

My 6 bands would be Iron Maiden, Napalm Death, Motorhead, Black Sabbath, Budgie, Obituary. Admittedly, I don't think I could do 6 bands because there's some bands I've been listening to most of my life like Sick of It All, Agnostic Front, Sepultura, Slayer, and Biohazard. It's strange to know Sepultura are calling it quits after this tour. I'm content with the discography(new and old) they're leaving behind. I've never gotten into Saxon, but I've decided to semi-retire from music collecting this year. I agree with your sentiments on The Legacy. I hold it in the same calibre as Metallica - Ride the Lightning and Death Angel - The Ultraviolence

@@darcysixstringsninelives3493 Yeah, living in Canada has gotten so expensive the last few years, so that's playing into it. Also in the last 10 years there has only been maybe 3 new bands that I've listened to and that Gruesome, Lucifer, and Ghost. I just don't hear anything that excites me anymore, although I was kind of digging on Fugitive and Cruel Force on youtube lately. Add on the fact that most of my favorite bands growing up are now retiring, or past their creative prime. I do have a list of bands that I play around with in my head that I would love to own their stuff, but don't. That list would be Killing Joke, The Varukers, The English Dogs, Cannibal Corpse, Razor, Autopsy, and Forbidden.

I guessed all 6! I'm sure you'd have been dissapointed in me if I hadn't, though I did wonder if Armored Saint might creep in. I think the early song releases are to maximise streaming revenue. They need 10s of thousands to make any money so the longer it's out the more chance they have of making some money. The album release will then give those songs another boost. I loved watching this brother,always look foward to this segment. Absolutely no surprises here with these bands.breaking the law was the first priest track I ever heard, after that I was on Columbia house buying all there stuff for like a dollar lol😅, good times. My 6 probably would be testament, Dio in some form, probably his solo stuff, but not hearing his voice on some level is ludicrous,Katatonia, Helloween, Lamb of god for the extreme heavy, and Priest.. Got The thrash, traditional,Power,Groove and progressive . Everything is covered lol. Great video brother. Stay heavy..🤟🤟

As far as I know they are not remastered, which is too bad because a couple of those first 6 albums could use a bit of thickening up on the production.
