I have self-ligating metal braces (aka Damon braces) from a reputable orthodontist and was told more detailed work could be achieved with metal braces, more quickly, and cheaper. Interesting to find that it may have been their lack of expertise with clear aligners that was the issue.. I would far have preferred Invisalign if they had shared the same facts as you.

Ah, well every case is different…sometimes traditional metal braces are indeed the better way to go, but expertise/lack of can of course be a factor. Impossible to tell from my viewpoint in your case :P

Why do i get the feeling that so many dentists and orthodontists and dental hygienists keep pushing for Invisalign??? I really feel the company is somehow subsidizing many dental places or something….. I got Invisalign BUT two of my molars DID NOT rotate. Then i did some research and found that Invisalign can inky rotate a tooth like 30% or so….. plus with Invisalign i had attachments on all of my front teeth and molars too!!! So they WERE very visible! Had i known all of that i would have probably chosen braces. Plus invisalign was at least twice as much! For my children we ended choosing braces for them. I’m glad you mentioned this, that sometimes braces are the better option . I actually many opinions!!! In a nutshell those that specialized on Invisalign swore by it and those that specialized on braces vouched for braces! I ended up with the most sincere ones. I told tgem price was not the issue i just truly wanted what was best for my children. At the clinic tgey do both, Invisalign and braces. Amongst other things, between both, they need mandibular advancement type 2, over bite, bite correction, etc. They didn’t feel pain with the rubber bands but tge did feel discomfort the day after they got tgeir braces….so i ket then play hookie and stay home and be pampered by momma 😊 Now in all honesty, IF Invisalign would be as effective as braces, i would have preferred it for my children but i had my own personal experience and saw that although it is very good overall, Invisalign DOES have limitations.

Thanks for sharing your experience! I had my orthodontics done by a specialist who uses both, depending on the case. There is definitely a limit to what Invisalign can do. I actually started with braces because it was cheaper, but then took them off early to be in a wedding 🤦‍♀️ and then a couple years later finished my case with Invisalign.

Rex Oper yes but remember, the dentist needs to be very knowledgeable in the software to achieve great results even with complex cases!
