Kurt - when you release the small fish tell them that wearing out the coins like that on their poker nights just isn't acceptable. They can do it to the copper coins from this century, but anything older they need to pile up for us to find.

If the other cannon wheel can't be found, I'd consider pressing your cannon wheel into PlaDoh to make the mold impression, then melting a couple sinkers to pour a replacement. Just thinkin'...

Hey Kurt, I love your fishing videos. I have really enjoyed them and look forward to many more...on "NOT WEDNESDAY!!!" On Wednesday, I enjoy metal detecting videos. I am crippled now and will never enjoy this hobby again out in the field, as I once did. My personal life dreams were cut short 5 years ago at age 50. So, I am living vicariously through videos like yours. Please go fishing on your on time! Thanks in advance. Brett PS: I would like to acknowledge something about you and your loving and supporting wife I haven't seen noted in the comments by others though I may have just missed it. You are both REALLY extraordinarily great parents. I can tell by the way both of your children respond so happily and energetically to anything you say or ask. Good kids-happy kids don't light up in the presence of good, decent parents the way your kids do. I don't know what magical parenting style you guys have, but it's something special. You guys are making some really good parents look like monsters and some really good, happy kids look like recoiling, scared and depressed future serial killers. Kudos for doing your part in whatever it is you guys are doing to raise these kids right. Your kids never seem "happy" to see you. They ARE ecstatic to see you. Kids aren't ecstatic to see "just good" parents like that. Even the Brady Bunch kids were never able to pull of ACTING as happy as your kids are. And that fake family is (was) the very definition of "happy family." Your friendships mirror all this. All of the Hoover Boys and others you admit to associate with are either really good peeps or world class actors. I think assholery would have come out by now if there were any there. Thanks for doing all this and sharing your life experiences, family and friends with all of us, I guess even including this ONE OFF Wednesday fishing fiasco.

I think MArk's big copper might be a George III two penny piece from 1797. Those were 41mm across. When you turn the coin I can see a faint outline of Britannia on one side and what looks like the outline of a head on the other. Probably need to do a rubbing to find out though.

That cannon is missing the cradle. So 1 wheel , which you can cast from the one you got , and a cradle. The cradle had a axle for the wheels and a place where the cannon sits and will pivot on the trunnions of the barrel of the cannon .
