In follow-up videos HS explains that the Americans Graves Registration Service personnel copied original oval-shaped German dogtags onto US dogtags to temporarily mark German gravesites. So these are not the originals. And - no surprise here - the totalitarian regime treated soldiers as numbers- there are no names on German tags. It takes awhile to find out who the individuals are based on their units and serial numbers. After more permanent graves were established, apparently the US dog tags were not needed, so they wound up tossed in the unneeded equipment dump sites.
