Johan Hegg as well as being Amon Amarth frontman is one of the owners of Grimfrost, A company making viking replica kit from horns to helmets, the TV show Vikings being one of their customers.

Johan Hägg, the singer of Amon Amarth has done another song with Saxon that he sang in called predator

Great reaction! In addition to the awesome vocals, Amon Amarth's video productions are always works of art. If you want to dive more into Amon Amarth, nearly everything they've done is fair game. For me, though, one video really stands out - "Father of the Wolf (Official Video)." Half of it is a high-quality cinematic story, and the other half is the song. It is about Loki and the wolf Fenrir. Loki was the father of Fenrir which kills Odin during Ragnarök.

Well this will definitely wake ya up and want to grab a sword and shield and go for a walk in the woods. Of course you'd scare everyone and then get arrested. I like when history is acted out in these modern times. Like renaissance fairs. Have great weekend, Bill! Hail VascNation!! ❤
@BemusingBill9 ай бұрын
I was thinking about the Ren fairs and the like. I had friends that were Civil War reenactors and got to hang out with them as they re-created a famous battle. Looked like so much fun! Especially the friendships forged. If you lived in my town a sword and shield are must haves for a leisurely walk😁Take care my friend! HAIL VASC NATION! ❤️

@@BemusingBill Oh my.. don't forget to arm yourself. Sounds like you live in a tough town. We had civil war reenactors around me. It's been a while. Guess it's not PC. I'm a dem, but don't understand anything about "woke" or PC. Anyway, love my Dan and your smilin' face. ❤️

Howdy bro! Great react as always. SHIELD WALL!! I saw Saxon years ago on the Wheels of Steel tour. I liked em, but they were never my fave. Helloween now, that's more my jam. I kinda rediscovered them recently and I'm back into em now. I've got a couple viking recommendations for you. I freaking loved The Last Kingdom. It's just as good as Vikings! What does your wife think: who's hotter, Ragnar Lothbrok, or Uhtred Son of Uhtred? 😂 Also there's a movie called The Last King. I know, similar title. It's awesome. You have to watch it in Norwegian with English subtitles, NOT the English dubbed version. Also there are a couple Viking-influenced shows from Norway on Netflix, one called Ragnarok, and the other called Beforeigners. Both excellent. BTW my stage name is Eirik Bloodaxe, a figure from the sagas. I highly recommend reading the sagas if you haven't. Especially the sagas of the Icelanders. I'm actually writing a novel about Vikings and Native Americans in Vinland. My heroine is Gudrid Thorbjornardottir, the most far-travelling woman in the world in the Viking Age, who hung out with Erik the Red in Greenland, and may well have given birth to the first white baby born in North America. I like to wonder what might have happened if the Norsemen and the Indians had gotten along, rather than what we saw depicted at the end of the Vikings series. It's fascinating stuff! Rock on, SKÄL brother!

Eirik Bloodaxe!!!!! I love that, brother! Yeah, same here regarding Saxon from back in the day. I need to discover more, no doubt about it. I'm doing just that with Helloween and Blind Guardian and now, methinks Amon Amarth! My wife says It's definitely Uhtred, son of Uhtred with a close second..........Rollo! We loved The Last King! Only watched it in the English, so next time in Norwegian. I've heard of some of the others and I think I have them on my list so maybe we can get to them soon. Also want to start The Winter King, I think it's on Prime. Looks really good. Dude! I would love to read your book! Right up my alley. That made me think of the movie Pathfinder with Karl Urban- Vikings in North America! Very cool film. Get this, I just got a little gift from the missus- Viking beard beads with Viking runes! Man, I am psyched for that! Good talking to you my brother! Keep the shields up till nerxt time Much love SKAL! 🤘🤘

@@BemusingBill You're definitely my brotha from anotha mutha. If we're ever in the same neck of the woods I'll shout you to an alehorn or several lol. We're on the Gulf Coast in Mobile. My gf is gifting me with a custom hand carved alehorn, can't wait to get it! Yep you've gotta see The Last King in Norwegian, it's kinda like night and day. I'm a huge devotee of the human voice and all the amazing sounds it can make, and I especially love accents. Hearing the Norse words spoken the way they're supposed to be adds a whole other level for me. And their voices are freaking glorious! Who knew Haakon was pronounced HO-Kan!! Son of Haakon! They mispronounce it in the dubbed English version as I recall. It's been a while, but I remember the voice acting as kinda hokey in that version. I don't know that Karl Urban movie, but he's one of my very favorite actors (come on man, Eomer from LOTR AND Dr. McCoy from Star Trek??). I'm all over that! Yeah my gf watched the Winter King, and I watched a couple episodes, but she couldn't stop bingeing it, and she has more viewing time available than me lol. Plus our watch list is a mile long, and I was already watching five shows at once, so she finished it all without me, the wanker! I need to go watch it. There are another couple great historical metal bands somewhat similar to Amon Amarth (I need to listen to more of them too, that was a cool vid). One is Sabaton--oh hey I see you reacted to their song Night Witches! Have you checked out Swedish Pagans? And the other one is Feuerschwanz. You have to see Berzerkermode if you haven't. It's priceless. Alright, back to my sagas! Rock on brotha!

Saxon Dallas 1pm is probably my favorite song of theirs, never was a huge fan, but liked them. Amon amarth embrace the endless ocean is one of my all-time favorite songs, period. If you're into Roman history stuff, there's a band called Ex Deo that I like a lot as well.
@WNYretiree9 ай бұрын
I really enjoyed this song. Especially since I am another history freak who, in college majored in history, with a concentration in English history. I was, and still am, a total Anglophile (though the Finns are coming up quickly). So, there was a lot of familiar stuff in this video. And the voices! I am just discovering Saxon and Biff's voice is so good! Looked him up, he's 73. I don't know who the lead singer of Amon Amarth is, but, in spite of the fact that I am usually not a fan of growling, his were much more melodic than most, and really fit the song.

The anglo saxons didn't conquer/invade england, they emigrated and were invited. The vikings, normans and romans were the 'colonisers' of Britain.

When I first saw this I didn't realise Saxon were in it until I heard Biff's voice! That made me laugh. Ironically Saxon come from the part of England covered by the Danelaw 😂- I'll be seeing them live along with Judas Priest in March, all being well. Since you have been watching "Vikings", can I recommend the acapella cover of _If_ _I_ _Had_ _A_ _Heart_ by The Bass Gang (featuring Ekaterina Shelehova)? Though you don't even need to know the show to enjoy it...

Clearly you don't know history. Wessex didn't falk to the vikings.
@elvwood9 ай бұрын
@@DerekDerekDerekDerekDerekDerek of course it didn't, but I think you misunderstand me. _The_ _band_ Saxon started out in Barnsley - which would have been in Northumbria, so nowhere near Wessex!

Howdy, Bill, thanks for a great reaction. Although the 'Last Kingdom' was a great reference, Johan Hegg strongly reminds me of Cerdic in 'King Arthur' (Still can't believe this was Stellan Skarsgard)... Anyhow, a request I know you'd love: Check out Canadian Band 'Unleash The Archers' - Awakening (Full Band Playthrough Video). Dude, I can't believe you haven't reacted to them yet. It's female fronted Power Metal with great songwriting combined with awesome technicality and vocals outta this world. Believe me, you'll not regret it...
