First of all, let me add my love and support to you, Brandy, and to all victims of domestic violence. This song hit hard, and rang true. It's an emotional sledgehammer. This is the second time I have seen this video and I'm glad I watched it again. Because this time I picked up that the husband was reaching for his gun when Hardy shot him. I can understand and emotionally agree to what was done. And, I know that victims of domestic violence are often so traumatized that they cannot mentally handle escaping or turning to the law. So, as much as I disagree with taking the law into your own hands, I can understand why, in this case, it was done. I still have a lot of thinking to do about this song. Thanks, Bill, for bringing it to my attention again.

@WNYretiree You said everything that I was thinking. It was like a gut-punch to see this because I grew up in a home where there was domestic violence from my alcoholic father. Karma got him and he died very young, ending the nightmare, but the damage was done. The effects were permanent - when you are the victim or you witness something like this first-hand it changes the way you see other people. If you are in a situation like this, leave immediately, seek help and don't go back. Thank you for sharing this video.

This song is an emotional gut punch song I also think of it as a battle cry for people of domestic violence. In a lot of cases the victims of domestic violence die at the hands of the abuser. Let’s face it sometimes the victim can’t get help because the one doling out the abuse either has a badge or has money / power, and uses that connection to squelch any charges. In those cases the victim is stuck with no way out. Other times the abuser has such control over the victim that the victim is scared to press charges. How many times has an abuser killed the victim? Another song that is up the same alley although not as raw was preformed by Miranda Lambert “gunpowder and lead”.

Thank you, Uncle Bill, for doing this. Yes, I was able to get out many years ago. He came to my job twice after the divorce and attacked me at work. He continued to do the same thing to his new girlfriends and even put his own sister in ICU for continuing to be my friend, but they just kept letting him out. The system is definitely broken, but it didn't break me!! Thank you again Uncle Bill for bringing awareness to the topic ❤

To add to the other comments... he was not a bad man, he was not an evil man... perhaps he grew up in a house of abuse.... as he knew what had happened to her without asking... he was a man who saw a need, saw an evil and acted on that need and evil. He was a man of faith (evidenced by the court scene bridge (Oh Lord have mercy on me was not asked to the court system... it was a plea to God) and visibly evidenced by the cross hanging on his rear view mirror... was his action legal, obviously not based on the trial, was it morally just.... that is up to each individual for you cannot legislate morality... but for every victim of DV, he would be an answered prayer... and for every man... the story forces the question... "what would I do?" I recently picked up on another aspect of the acting...you can see the transfer of 'weight' from the weight on her as a DV victim... to him, as the reality of what he did sank in looking at the body on the floor... she has her weight lifted as she no longer has to live that life... and the weight of the decision he made settles onto his shoulders, heart and mind.
@BemusingBill10 ай бұрын
Beautifully said, my friend. I'm all tears right now I aint gonna lie. I like your observation of the 'weight' that's transferred from one to the other. That hit me the hardest. Thank you my brother.

I cried through this whole song. I've been where that girl was for 5 years. The night I got away from that man, he put me in the hospital with a broken nose and knife wounds and I put him in jail. Never looked back. He died about 5 years ago and I didn't feel anything. As it should be. People stay because of the kids sometimes. But they are the very reason you have to leave. Great reaction. My heart goes out to all victims of domestic violence. HARDY is a really versatile artist but above all, he's a lyrical genius. He has a Country side and a Rock side to him and both are great but the one thing that's consistent is that he writes really clever lyrics. If you want to check out more of his stuff I would start with "A ROCK" and "GIVE HEAVEN SOME HELL" as they have a similar vibe to this song. EDIT: I just watched your reaction to Jelly Roll's "Save Me" and just wanted to mention that he has a version out that features Lainey Wilson in it if you want to check it out.

I loved your reaction. It's not stupid at all. You showed that you truly are a man and human. I'm a survivor of abuse, child sexual abuse and gang rape by the age of 11. It's not just about domestic violence it's about the violence period because it just don't happen in the family. But this needs to be brought to light as well. You don't find men like this anymore and people just turn their heads but it starts with the children and how you raise a what you teach them. They've removed the father's from the house hold and masculined the woman and feminized the men. They raise and teach their children to be thugs and brutal. I'm a survivor and I became a fighter a bully and got on drugs at a young age to hide my feelings, my emotions and now I'm kinda like an abuser of men because it's not just women who are victims there's boy's, children and men but they don't talk about it. God blessed me that I survived and made it this far to tell my story. I'm 57 years old and I've been clean for 12 years now and I never got the help I needed to learn how to deal and cope with my abuse and many don't. But also many don't survive and the system doesn't do anything but let them back out on the streets to do it again. In the case of my abusers, 1 I never spoke about, the other, 1 of my step father's never got brought up to the cops and the gang of 7 guys between the ages of 15 -19 got arrested and was let back out on 2 years probation a piece Todo it to someone else. This subject needs to be talked about along with all the children ( male and female) as well as women who are being trafficked. But thank you for your very sincere reaction. God bless you always.
@BemusingBill3 ай бұрын
Thank you so much for sharing your story, my friend. I want to say firstly, my congratulations for being clean these last 12 years. That's so wonderful and I'm so happy for you! You've experienced things no one should experience. So many stories from so many people and every one of them breaks my heart. I agree with your points regarding parenting and what our society has done. Not that it was somehow better in the past, in many ways it was worse (I'm sure you're familiar with some of Dickens' works-Oliver Twist for example) Child labor in the early Industrial Revolution, The Children's Crusades to the Holy land (all sold as slaves 😞) People suck. I tend to lean towards animals- at least you know where they stand. Humans are the worst kind of animals- raping and torturing their own children or the children of relatives. I don't think I know too many women who were NOT raped or molested as a kid or teen. It's ludicrous! It's horrifying. How much worse was Sodom and Gamora than the world is right now? How will God judge us? My prayers and thoughts are with you, my courageous friend. May God's light shine down on you forever. ❤️

Women who have been thru abuse have alot of "baggage" after escaping this life. Alot of men will toss DV victims away and move onto someone else because they dont want to deal with or try to understand the person shes become due to the abuse.

The line she sings, that it was judge under the seat. Taurus Firearms USA makes a revolver called a Judge. He's in prison than he is because he sent him to hell.

She also has a Reba type sound.

I'm not at all familiar with Reba to be honest.

If this song doesn't get that type of reaction that person doesn't have feelings. This song hit me hard. I married three times to abusive men. Finally got free but because I don't know how to pick men I have lived alone since 1986. Happiest I've ever been has been without a man in my life to hurt me.
