‘What I do for these screws, times are tough!’ You said it, but as always we make the best we can out of any situation. Love the videos.....am definitely hoping to see more content from you and your channel on containers! Hopefully times didn’t get too tough. Hang in there.

Question...when it comes to flooring, esp. laying tile with grout, is there concern with expansion/contraction of the container? If you were to build in a climate that reaches greater fluctuations in temps through the seasons. The container being made of steel, is there ever risk of grout lines cracking?

I went to your website and there's not really a way to contact or send an email. Due to the skyrocketing prices of lumber and other materials, are you putting things on hold for now?

Would you say (especially since Covid-19 hit ) that all the ordering, delivery and transportation cost's have sky rocketed that it's a little more economical to use metal vs. wood to frame a small cabin or home ? Are the size and distance requirements for codes (in your state) the same for metal framing the same as if you were using wood for the structure ? Thanks, Jeanine * (just outside) New Orleans, Louisiana

Pop rivet the studs to the floor track it's cheaper stronger & the plaster board will sit flasher as the rivets don't stand out so proud.. just saying..

Can you make a video on the legality and city laws on having a container home on your land. I’m just curious if I can just build one of these on a lot in California without Permits?

I just visited Home Depot. $15 to $18 per metal stud ? Wood studs were $2.75 to $3.

The InSoFast seems super expensive, why not simply use styrofoam board like the R Tech throughout and then the 1 5/8th metal studs?

Hi greets from germany. I really appreciate your videos. Great Stuff. Maybe a question thats already been asked, but I see there is an air gap between the outer walls and the insulation due to the shape of the outer walls. Do you fill this gap with foam?

Blake, I have to be honest. This video was not as informative as it should have been. It is supposed to be a step by step but you skipped a lot of steps. There was nothing about the top and bottom track, only a small mention of how to secure the studs to the tracks, not enough about stud layout and spacing, no mention of what type of screws to use, etc. For a video that is supposed to be for dummies, it doesn't do anything to help. I have been a subscriber since the beginning. I normally enjoy your videos and do find them informative, entertaining, and well made. This one missed the mark.

I've been a fan for years (and still am) so don't take this as a hate. But gotta write this, many mistakes here from my POV. :( For those who came here to actually learn something about metal stud framing, basic rules as we use it in EU (we actually use metal studs for drywall works way way more often compared to wood; wood studs are rare here). Basic rules: bottom and top tracks (also called "U profiles") are screwed to the floor/ceiling, first screw about 10 cm (4") from the edge and then every other screw about 80 cm (31"). Add special self adhesive foam insulation for better acoustic insulation by sticking it on the U profile from outer side (so it fills up the gap between the profile and the surface you are attaching it to). Vertical studs ("C profiles") are cut to lenght, always shorter about 10-15 mm (3/8" to 5/8") so they have a little play to them. Always orient the C profiles pointing the same direction, cut from the same end so you'll get prefab holes for your cables in the same height. You only screw your first and the last C profiles to the surface you butt against. You DO NOT screw other C profiles to the U profiles! (yes they are actually being held by the drywall only!) When installing the drywall you screw ONLY to C profiles, never to U profiles. And, of course, don't forget to stagger the drywall sheets. I'm not saying your code can't be different in some details, but I believe these basics are the same all over the world. :)

Hey so thanks for the info! Good to know for Europe but here in the US you would fail your framing inspection if you don’t screw the studs to the u channel aka track, in ever single location on both sides, missing one screw the inspector will tell you to put a screw in there before I leave.
@Kanal1033 жыл бұрын
@@ContainingLuxury I thought that may be "code thing"... :) But makes no sense to me anyway as the wall itself has to be independent/separate from the rest of the building because of dilatation and potential for cracks due to temperature and humidity changes as well as building movement due to high speed wind.
