The Description is very important, lads. Hope you learn and enjoy. I'll be adding the list of things that I forgot to add to the guide here in this comment from now on. You can comment down some stuff you know as well under the replies of this pinned comment. EXTRAS: ---------------------- *Friendly Fire.* Friendly fire is a lesson I wanted to add in but forgot to (even tho the footage was recorded a day after the initial recording of this guide). It is a thing in the game and it IS important. It would fall under the 'Room Tools' segment at 1:30:23 As an example, it would've been the R-O1 encounter against the Grad, with a Gecko around. You can align it so the Gecko gets 'Recko' by the Grad shooting it to death. There are other instances but this is a very good example. . ---------------------- Ripper Mode makes Blade Mode slower. ----------------------

*BM notes:* You can cancel with or without fuel cells but in certain cases, you need the FC if you want to avoid attacks. Either that or you gotta cancel sooner than you otherwise could. (The fuel cells add the little slow-mo which while it only lasts for a short amount of time, it can really make the difference sometimes.) attacks like pincer1 (by that I mean the first attack of pincer), cannot be cancelled with just blade mode but what you can do is cancel it with a dodge. Sideways and backwards dodges are less useful though because if you do a foward dodge, you get the option to cancel the foward ones. It only works in that direction. So what you can do is pincer, dodge fowards with offensive defense, and then blade mode cancel the dodge. another thing regarding AI baiting; it works really well on mistral because its always consistent as long as you are close enough. No instances of her maybe not doing it, nope. She always does it unless shes doing an attack which takes priority over your blade mode activation. Luckily, most of her attacks dont. The reaction in itself is just her doing a little slash with her pole arm. its easy to parry, dodge and you can even jump over it. You can also use it to get mistral to hit an explosive barrel and deal damage to herself. Or just using it to skip some of her annoying telegraphed attacks by tapping BM to lock her out of her planned attack. ----------- *DO notes:* Not alot to be said here but just for those really rare moments but still just in case: I believe the heavy, pause, heavy - attack also has IFrames the same way that the slide tackle has them. I barely make use of it, but every now and then its just convinent. ------------- *Ripper mode notes:* This is only gonna be about ripper mode. So that kick thingy is indeed a bug. It works on the same basis as pole arm jumps (another speedrun glitch). When you activate ripper mode, raiden slows down for a second and all of his animations get extended. The thing with the falling lighting attack is that when you extend the animation of it via ripper mode, then it also extends how much distance raiden travels. Activating ripper mode doesnt just slow the animation down- I mean it kinda does but you know what I mean. It also affects stuff like coordinates. Secondly, its not infinite. It has really great range but its still very much limited. The best demonstration of such a kick would be like watching a modern mgr speedrun and going to the beginning of R-03 right at the start: theres a skip that involves using the kick to fly over the first barrier. Its a great display of the actual range. -------- *secondary sai notes:* You forgot a great purpose of the sai. Contrary to common belief, it can actually be great for crowd control. Its kinda hard to put into perspective how great it may be compared to other options so ill try to get someone to DM it to you or something later but ill try to put it in text anyway: First you need to line up enemies in one line. An easy way for that is to sprint away and they all come rushing towards you. Then, lock onto the guy all the way in the back. Make sure you stayed lock onto him. Then, when you use the sai attack, you will pull close to the guy in the back. Everyone in the front, middle and back will get launched into the air into the juggle state. It deals "normal" amounts of damage but the juggle state that enemies get launched in just lasts a really long time compared to other stuff like air dropping them. After one series of sai pulls is over, you can go for a second round by re-positioning yourself. ----------- *secondary pincer notes:* When you charge the air drop heavy attak with pincer, you can change raidens direction when he falls. As soon as you stop floating mid-air, you can make inputs with the left joystick / WASD and raiden will turn corresponding to that. useful for when you set up the pincer in one way to hit an enemy but it takes too long and the enemy is gone. It helps with re-adjusting at the last second. -------- *tripping enemies notes:* The slide tackle will never work on an enemy with swords. You can only do it on delimbed enemies, enemies with guns or enemies with rocket launchers. As long as they have a sword, its not an option. But some enemies who have both a sword and a gun are pretty unique. You can bait out their gun-style-switch and then quickly slide tackle them to get the trip out of them. edit about this one segment: Im actually not sure when you can slide tackle now and when you cant. Take this one info with a grain of salt. ------------ *Hammer grunt enemy notes:* You can also cancel all of the hammer cyborgs attacks (even the yellow ones) by using enemy vault on them. Its possible to just stay up close to them while never jumping, tackle sliding for i-frames, dodging or parrying. All you´d need for them is enemy vault and they also get kinda trivialized. ---------- *Raptor notes:* The raptors also have an attack where they stomp on you. If you slide tackle into that one with ninja run + heavy attack, then the raptors will also trip over. Just make sure you only do the slide after the raptors attack is over. You can usually bait this attack by getting a raptor to chase and run after you. Then slow down a bit to let it catch up. Once its close enough, it will usually do that attack. correction: it appears that all of the raptors attacks work this way. You just need the timing down of when to do a slide tackle (usually towards the end of their attack) ---------- Alrigth, just finished all of it. Overall, this is one of your best videos of all time. peak and absolute cinema. It was cool to have that same fight at the start and then also at the end again.

Oi, Terraria. Good to see you here. Also a good chance to ask how's the "PAIN+ No Parry" run of yours (still don't have the biggest idea on your rules for that run)? I've seen bits of the first part here and there and I absolutely LOVE it. May get around to watching the whole thing. Really good stuff. I also saw that I'm not subscribed (which is cringe) and I just did. You're mad skilled in this game. >Pincer evade cancel >followed by a BM cancel for the evade This is interesting (and new). I'm moreso interested in what use you can make out of this? Or is it just for cancelation? >AI Baiting >Works wonders on Mistral Hmm, perhaps I should've dived deeper into that mechanic, cuz it's interesting. Didn't know it does a number on Mistral. Raeng mentioned it to me when we talked about this 'AI Bait' (he called it the 'Blade Lure'). Thanks for the info. I'll try to put it to more use. >Heavy pause launcher has i-frames Word? Imma try it out next time I boot up the game. That's hella interesting. If the i-frame window is big, I might put it to use here and there, ya never know. Thanks a shitton! >RM >extending animations So that's how it works. Thanks for the clarification. It's just such a nice SNIPER to use on enemies like that. Feels intentional. >not infinite That makes sense. Guess in combat it *is* infinite since it can go through the entire range of the lock on(?). Pretty good. But overall good to know it's not a whole infinite (otherwise it'd never end **which is in character for Raiden, but we can't have good things in life**). >Sai Crowd Control ಠ ͜ʖ ಠ Well that's gonna be fun to try out when I boot up the game 5 minutes from now. That's mad interesting. I feel a little dumb not adding the Pincer's launcher in the Crowd Control section (since it kicks balls). Ny memory is a bit complicated on what it remembers and what it forgets. A classic case of me FORGORING *checks again* Yup. Not there. It's a good thing I explain it later in the Pincer's segment of the video, but still. >Changing direction of Pincer's air T Oh? Interesting. I wonder if I'll ever find a true use for that attack beyond random style points. Or goofing around with it while RM is active (as a 'Slay All' anime move). >Tackle >doesn't tackle foes with only swords I see. Enemies with ONLY swords? Now this gets me thinking about the BM slash at the fatty's sword when he blocks my tackle. Wondering if that works on the amped up Fodders, too. I'll be trying that out in a little bit. >Hammer Head attack canceling Tackling him? >Enemy Vault Hmm. This is a lesson that *barely* made it out of the guide. I wanted to include but never truly found a grand use for it. It didn't seem as useful as NG's way of the Vault. The Vault of the (gay) Samurai. Imagine if we could vault over enemies and jump cancel it to get in the air (as a pseudo hyper jump). Now that would've been dope. I still don't know if there's a way to consistently do the Enemy Vault tho. Sometimes, it doesn't come out for whatever reason. >Tackle sliding >for i-frames For i-frames? I expected you to say for restarting their attacks (since they don't eat upcoming tackles). >best vid Glad you enjoyed it. I suppose you knew everything put on display. Thanks for the extra notes. Kindly attach this same comment in the reply of my pinned comment for people to refer to it easier. This is some awesome info.

@@ExtremeGameplays1 The runs going okay-ish. Im stuck at the 3 raptors in R-02 as of now but just give it some time and ill miraculously find a way to finish it. Also thanks for the compliment but im not really that skilled. If a professional mgr player tried this challenge run, it shouldve been over almost 2 years ago. Each major fight usually taught me something new. The most recent one was finding a juggle-setup for mastiffs without parrying them. Its really just one step at a time and really time consuming. Not skilled at all. The only thing im arguably skilled at is stealth (my specialty). Oh also thanks for the sub! >Pincer evade cancel Yeah I also dont think theres any specific use for it, other than cancelling faster. But the thing I wanted to point out with that comment is that you can still cancel certain attacks if you do the right set-up beforehand. I mean thats basically what the sky-high-mashing for DPS is. You cant blade mode cancel the attack but what you can do is blade mode cancel the jump (I think thats how it works atleast). >Pincer air attack spin Aside from the obvious stuff like gekkos, theres only one other niche thing I can think about. You can use it to cut all the helicopters and tanks that monsoon throws at you I guess. We'll see how that attack develops in the future when more discoveries get made. (If that attack develops at all.) >Tackle I played some more and now im not even sure what to think. It all used to make sense but now im doubting myself because I tested the tackle on an enemy on whom I would usually never use it. And it worked despite what I was mentally hard-coded against. What a suprise >the whole hammer head thing Yeah I made a huge typo and will be correcting the name in the attached reply aftewards. What I meant was the big grunt fodder with the hammer as a weapon, not the helicopter. That entire text about "hammerhead"´s was supposed to be about those grunt hammer weapon humanoid thingy cyborgs instead. You probably saw the clip dante sent you already though. Thats how the thing looks like. >consistency of enemy vault I am not 100% sure but I think for a consistent enemy vault (atleast what i do) is that I stop for a little bit after attacking. So lets say im using some light attacks and then wanna enemy vault. If I keep attacking and only try the enemy vault in the last second, it tends to fail. But if I stop a bit earlier, wait for like half a second so that attack animation stops, then I can suddenly enemy vault much more consistently I think. However, im not sure if this is actually the key to the problem. It just *seems* to work but still not all the time. In summary, make sure raiden is in his idle state before attempting an enemy vault. > the end of your message A couple of things were actually new to me. Like the BM slashing the wrist, interecepting raptors mid-air (which will surely be important for me) and also the name of the spiders. Though I dont have their spelling quite remembered yet. Vodomjerka.

>stuck at 3 Raptors Y'see, once I heard you were doing a PAIN+ run, I got intrigued back then. But then Dante dropped a bombshell saying "He also doesn't allow blocking or parrying" and man at that point... come on. Don't you think that's a bit TOO much? Is it taking inspiration from GoW's PAIN+ or is it a whole something else, exclusive to MGR? Becuz it's more about being 'reasonably difficult' in GoW's side of challenge runs. A run like PAIN+ is the hardest but also reasonable. We don't have 'No Grabs' thrown in there, for example. As for MGR, PAIN+ would totally allow Blocking/Parrying. Hell, it would allow Grabs, even. Progression tools? Items? Move buying? Fuel usage? Now those wouldn't be allowed. BigVEE (A.K.A GodModeGOD), the creator of PAIN+ goes over the rules with Roy in his PAIN+ video (he does the first mission in that video). Yours seem to have an extreme self imposed challenge to it. No Blocking/Parrying. Which would be the equivalent of removing grabs in GoW PAIN+. I am planning to one day do a PAIN+ run. Here's an idea of what the rules will look like: -Very Hard Difficulty -No Upgrades -No Health/Fuel Meter Extension -No Moves Buying -No Secondaries -No Subs -No Items -No Blade Mode (unless necessary to use. And it would be fine for cancels or AI baiting, or anything as long as it's not damaging the foe) -No Fuel USAGE (Canceling and Grabbing is fine, since we're not draining the fuel to damage the foe. That and other Legacy rules of PAIN+ that might make grabbing a grey area at best). >miraculously defeat them Good luck, king. Slay. I HATE RNG. >not skilled You're Vet status. What you do is not so easily achieved. Discovering things as you go is a part of the experience. >Pincer attack to destroy Monsoon's chopper attack Oh? That's interesting to know. Might try it out. >Used Tackle on an enemy he never used it against Which enemy? >Enemy Vault consistency I see. The game has a bad detection for the mechanic. It is what it is. Your clip demonstrated some pretty nice use of it. >Raptors See if this helps. It's a slow chipping process, but worth the shot. In my second ever run of MGR, which was stupidly on a FRESH VH (even KNOWING that this is a Platinum game designed with NG+ in mind for a second playthrough) that made the run very difficult, what I would do there is not go with what always works (EMP). I'd run from one end of the arena to another, dealing slight damage to one or two Raptors. And then run to the other end in the hopes of outputting something nice. Problem is, this was done using the Pole-Arm. I don't know how and ideal HF approach would be. You'd have to try and grind it. So good luck with that. You WILL need some luck with this one and not just skill.

>How I decided to do the challenge Basically I have been one of your viewers for a long time but didnt do much challenge stuff myself. So I tried to come up with rules. I figured that allowing blade mode is too easy. And parrying is also kinda overpowered if you can just parry most encounters. Stealth is also pretty strong since you can take out 3 mastiffs via just stealth if you play it slow. And I kept making more and more rules because the game makes some stuff too easy. But the problem was, that I forgot to account for what would happen if I applied all of those rules at the same time. It wouldve been better to first do a no upgrade run, then a no damage, etc. etc.. And then once ive gotten reasonably good at the game, I would try all of the rules at once. But yeah, I already spent like 150 hours or something into the current challenge so I guess im gonna finish it now. I do plan in the future to do the exact same run but once with the pole arm equipped, once with the sai and once with the pincer. >tackle It was on one of those fodders which use 2 relatively small swords per hand. The ones that also show up at the gate of R-07. 1:16:54 as example. >Raptors The problem I have is that raiden gets "staggered" a little if I do a running light attack. The sword bounces off of the enemy. But now that I´m aware of catching them in the air, I think it could be a great strat to maybe run away and bait them to jump. Maybe you can even continue the juggle long enough by repeatedly light attacking (and hoping the other raptors dont interupt you). Ill see what I can do.

Based take on Very Hard, I have always said its the true hardest mode, as Revengeance makes the game too easy because by the time you unlock it you can perfect parry in your sleep, and so easily 1-hit kill almost everything. In Very Hard mode even if the damage taken isn't as much as Revengeance it's still high, and the fact you have to actually fight every enemy and encounter properly makes it both more engaging and harder for longer, and no one wants a flaccid action game.

Hello Before I submit my question, I would like to thank you for your interest in old games, especially action games (peak days of gaming), and your dedication to providing clear content and effort on the channel. My question is, I intend to continue MGR these days, and I once heard you say that very hard is more difficult than rev. Can you tell the reasons? Thank you for everything you provide.
@ExtremeGameplays1
@ExtremeGameplays1 Ай бұрын
@@SPARTANS_ARENA Thanks a lot for the sentiment. The big difference Revengeance makes is that Parries instantly WRECK an enemy. Dealing insane damage to bosses, and instantly killing enemies. All of that gets boring when you eventually nail down the parry timings. I've heard Revengeance has a bit more enemy aggro than VH, but it's not noticeable to me, seeing as how enemies are cracked on VH too. Projectiles deal a LOT more damage on Revengeance tho. But generally, it's the parrying that kills enemies instantly that bugs me with it. Encounters become waaaaaay too simplistic and easy.

@@BlaixenU_ You like the Enemy Vault? The only problem I have with it would be the detection. The game does not detect that you are going for the Enemy Vault most of the time. Now Terraria says standing still for a little bit infront of the enemy and THEN sprinting forward and jumping towards the enemy has a better chance at triggering it.
