27:06 This was a really cool moment for me. Up until now, I was scared, confused, and very on edge playing through this section of the game. With the all weird trippy music, evading the enemy with no way to defend yourself, and the colonel acting like a total psychopath, I was very much like Raiden, questioning whether any of this was real. This section of the game was a such a departure in tone from everything else before it that it was quite a relief to run into Snake. When he assures us that we CAN deal with whatever is coming at us next, I got a really strong sense of determination to finish the game.

agreed. this level was such a mindfuck back then (and still is lol). i didnt know what was happening anymore, what was real, what wasnt and where all this meta stuff would end. when solid appeared, i knew it was over and everything will be alright

Raiden doesn't get the praise he deserves. Some asshole in the eighties ruin his fucking childhood and left him with an emotional scar, then an organization which main goal is to censor and rule the planet, altered his memory and sends him on a mission to test if anyone can be shaped intro Solid Snake, the perfect Warrior. After that they strip him naked and his reality is starting to fall apart, the only link to the real world by Snake who also lied to him, then he realizes his own colonel is an ai machine! Half an hour later he has to fight like 25 Metal Gears which is close to impossible but he succeds, and that doesn't end there either because 5 years later the same censorship orginazation MAKE HIM INTO A CYBORG NINJA!!! Fuck....
