Rose represents Raiden's connection to humanity, actually. Her reminders of life outside of the mission recall his humanity, as does calling him "Jack" and never "Raiden." Her sheer presence alone strengthens his will to survive -- he must finish the mission, so that he can come home to /her./ As a Patriot spy, she must know in some capacity what their plans were, and she undermines every "monster" and "murderer" they throw at him with homecomings and promises of tomorrow.

Damn those were my MSN Messenger status back in 2006-2007 when I was a kid and felt in love with MGS2 and whole Raiden and Rose story, I had a female friend who always called me Jack. XD Besides, Raiden never once had a choice in the matter - he was brought up from a VERY young age as a child soldier, he's spent his whole life taking orders. It even disgusts HIM that he's still able to kill without feeling. Rose obviously understands this - Raiden isn't proud in the LEAST of how he's been praised for his skills in war; he's ashamed of it, to no end. All he wants is to start a new life - if only he was given the choice to.

This shocked the senses a bit when I first saw it. Why? Because with raidens less gruff and 'pussy' demeanor you expect him to have come from a much more affluent background than snake did (or at least I did); this sense that raiden is doing this as part of some careerist opportunity and not like snake because he doesn't know anything else. Raiden is a completely broken person whilst Snake is a bruised and battered one.

seriously, if he told her straight up who he really is and everything about him, I don't think she would take any interest in him. Most likely any women would be scared at least feel awkward trying to find any reason to love a person like that. Imagine if you can fall in love with a woman who killed her kids and she told you up front. Imagine if a guy was a murder and admits to you, would you want to get to know that person and start a relationship? Everything rose said is just not plausible.

The diffrence is Jack was forced and drugged. Those little details can be vital. Especially given Rose' s job is the chances of understanding is higher. Jack may not be a normal guy but Rose isn't a normal girl either

She was forced to be with Jack in the first place After spending two years with him she just fell in love with him. Now mix her guilt for lying during such a long time and the fact that she is pregnant. Also Raiden's murders weren't done by evil. He was a mere kid trying to survive.
