18:31 you know whats funny? If you ring up the Colonel right before you head onto the roof , Snake will rightfully sound out of breath, having climbed the infinite tower from MGR while being shot at . Colonel will kinda laugh at him, telling Snake he’s not as fit as he used to be. And instead of an immediate retort, Snake just gives Colonel the stinkeye

The hilarious thing about Snake asking so many questions is, that turns out to be (or at least used to be) one of the FBI's main negotiation techniques. It's called mirroring, and it's supposed to lead the person you're speaking to to share more information than they otherwise would. You repeat the last three words, or some variation of the most important words, in the form of a question. I always thought it was a meme, but with that context, it's a bit ridiculous how much that makes sense.
@ens024613 күн бұрын
The thing is, beyond the magical/paranormal stuff in Kojima games, all the insanity is generally based in the reality of what has actually happened in conflicts. The fact that most people find it ridiculous is...I dunno how to feel about it. I used to think MGS was just cool, then completely silly, then I learned more about its influences, more about real war over the years. It feels different now. It's like staring at the pure madness of the reality we live in with no filters.
@Yarblocosifilitico7 күн бұрын
FBI's negotiation techniques, huh? ... on a serious note, that's actually quite interesting. MGS is more relevant than most people realize. There's too much truth underneath the madness... As the saying goes, 'reality is stranger than fiction'.
@Yarblocosifilitico7 күн бұрын
@@ens0246 exactly. It's genius how it attracks people with the crazyness and over-the-topness... yet it's way more grounded and relevant than it seems at first or even second glance.
@Doc92IDH7 күн бұрын
@@ens0246 It's probably my favourite thing about the games to be honest. They'll be timeless for that reason: especially MGS2 (for its prescience) and MGS3 (for the way it captured the zeitgeist of the cold war period). Playing any of them gives you a great insight into the key issues and prevailing sentiments of the time (except V: probably why it didn't stick the same way for me and was so disappointing)
