"That transition!" So awesome..that's the high. The song is broken into 3 parts, the beginning is the craving and is hard AF, the transition represents the high which is euphoric and then the last is hard again coming down from the high and seeking the hit for the next one. This song is so F-ing epic!

@stevegeib96423 жыл бұрын
Musically, you are spot on as the music tells such a clear story in itself. Lyrically, it is a conversation of sorts as the first stage is Master enticing and almost warning the user at the same time. Then the transition is the user complaining about the broken promises and pleading to be released, while the third stage is the Master basically telling the user, "Too late motherfucker! You now belong to me!" Awesome composition to quote Lex and this would go further in deterring kids from drug use than the useless warnings from politicians and teachers and even parents. The ugliness needs to be full force for kids to get the message. Metallica can definitely bring that!

The guitar solo on that transition is, in my humble opinion, the best guitar playing of our modern era. It's perfect technically, and it is matched and interpreted to the rest of the piece as if Mozart was somehow involved. A great Chef once said, "If you are going to do something simple, it had better be absolutely perfect". This is what our musician has done here. I wish I could meet Kirk just for a couple of minutes. Fun fact. When I was 15, I started my guitar playing from this song. I usually practiced 6-8 hours per day, but I didn't give up until I learnt it (everything else but Kirk's fast solo...which I learnt a year later or smt) I had already learnt to play few riffs like "One" and "Enter Sandman" on my acoustic (which only had 4 strings), but when I got my first electric guitar, I went to library and got tablature notes to this album, and this was the first song I learnt. It was so f'ing slow at first, because I had to learn everything from scratch, counting frets and all. There was no internet back in 1992...and rewinding with cd-player (or c-cassette) was also very clumsy.

lOVE how you guys are experiencing this for the first time. imagine being a quiet shy teenager living in the hood, back in the late 80's, no internet, no cable. all the info you ever got was thru magazines... regular TV is just the same ol bs. and someone in school hands you a Metallica Master of Puppets tape, you go home do your homework, help your siblings with homework....do your chores, shower get ready for bed and you put this tape on your radio, and put on your big ol' Radio Shack headphones close your eyes and listen to this for the first time..... goosebump city. you never heard ANYTHING like this. I mean now a days, this wouldn't surprise many people but imagine back then..this stuff was mind blowing. to hear someone play music like this, at the speed and accuracy and energy...the tempo changes...they used to be amazing back then. this album and ride the lightning are on my top 10 albums ever. on 7:31 I heard this for the first time and imagine the guy fighting the voices in his head until he just gave up right there at 7:31 and took the fix and the tempo just slows down...I mean....mFkn brilliant ... is like watching a movie with your ears back then... love the channel ...much respect and love....

One thing I've learned from watching y'alls metal reactions, is that Lex has A LOT of pent up energy! Hahaha

You two are quickly moving up my list of favorite reactors! I love that he is very chill, and analytical. While she is swept away in the emotion of the song. Plus I'm not gonna lie she is SOOOO easy on the eyes! Keep it up guys, great job!!

I have to say that I love the fact that Lex, after a slow process of reacting to a lot of videos and songs, that she has become a metal head!! Rock on Lex!! \m/ \m/

That slow spot hooked me on Metallica forever after. I was a teen when I first heard it.

9:48 interesting but fitting choice of words right here (altough you're probably just refering to the tempo here), since this melodic part of the song is supposed to feel like the rush that you get right after doing drugs

It's funny to listen to these songs with you, I've listened to them for decades yet had never tried to understand their meaning... It's like I'm discovering them again with you two.
