@DaddySantaClaus3 жыл бұрын
I don't know what an add 9 is but I can play it by ear if I listen to it, it's not really that hard to figure out a chord, can't your hear the notes ringing? How do you play music? you can't hear the harmony? Is it all memorised?You don't need to know the name, is the sound and the feeling that you need to know.I actually know many jazz musicians who don't even know the chords, or theory, but damn sure they can play them and improvise over them. But the jazz musicians that I love, never went to school or university, or wherever the fuck they teach music. How do you teach feeling in school anyway? 😂 I love Jazz and there are very few school taught jazz musicians that I actually like to hear and learn from.
@someguyfromanotherplanet52843 жыл бұрын
Just add the ninth note on the scale of the root note while putting in mind that there are only seven notes in a scale therefore you just keep on going till you reach the ninth note eg CDEFGAB then go on to CD D on the next octave is the ninth note so following the major scale formula (1,3,5) which is CEG add your ninth note D and there you have it play a CEGD note that the D must be an octave higher.
@brokenkledonetrickchalleng7353 жыл бұрын
@@DaddySantaClaus that might work for some people but for others theory is very helpful. in my example, if i have something in my head or hear something and try to play it and dont get it right away i immediately loose it and cant try again except if i hear it again. but practicing ear training and also learning all the theory helps me to expand. for example if i have a cool chord progression i can figure out a fitting scale or alternate chords depending on what kind of feel i want to bring across. i wouldnt have been able to (or better put wouldnt have dared) to try it without knoeing the theory. so i'd say it works for some people with theory and some without. in the end it only matters that its fun to play
