As I am back off at university for my final year and not a music student I did not have to want to take my amp with me and this plugin does it all for me. Pitch down with the wow pedal works great with single notes but chords not so much, like I tried your basic g chord pitched down 6 semitones it sounds just wrong.

Nick, can you make a tutorial video how to sound like Trivium with amp sims/plugins etc? (they have great guitar tones imo)
@frpcastro3 жыл бұрын
Depends on what album you're talking about, I agree they have great tones but their tone is really straightforward, probably an emp emulating a 5150 or that kind of sound with some IRs that go well together with that amp (Google's your friend for finding that), a drive pedal before that on the signal chain (the Dr. Drive from Audiority is amazing, it emulates the Horizon Precision Drive pedal and is also completely free. Or one that emulates a Tube Screamer, can't really go wrong with that), some EQ and you should already be pretty close to their tone. If you want a tone closer to their more recent albums go for more mids, if you want their older tones it's closer to the scooped metal sound™. I can get really close to the What The Dead Men Say tone using only free plugins, Dr. Drive pedal, STL Emissary amp and NadIR to load the IRs.
@SuRGeoNofDeaTH.3 жыл бұрын
@@frpcastro I use custom 5150 amp sim from BIAS FX 2 and IRs from Ownhammer (Mesa V30/H30 mostl which fits the 5150 or Mark III Stealth) It's not that i'm unhappy with my tone, but i feel i miss sth. (attack or some good low cut) I suck at EQ, i just don't get it. I will try the Horizon drive pedal you mentioned. Btw is there a free Horizon Gate pedal plugin out there? Cause this noisegate does a good job. I tried it in Helix and removes all the hiss/noise like nth else i tried. ps. I love their Vengeance Falls album sound. Oh and anth involved 6string songs cause i don't own a 7string guitar. All albums have some songs on 6string, for example Amongst the Shadows and the stones or Feast of Fire.
@frpcastro3 жыл бұрын
@@SuRGeoNofDeaTH. the drive pedal I recommended has a gate in the plug-in as well so try it out. About EQing, yeah, it takes some time to learn what frequencies do what and how to play with them, but just keep at it until you get the hang of what frequencies your tone and guitar need adjusting. One solid tip I can give you is that, like anything else in the chain, order matters very much, EQ and drive (in that order) should be the first elements in any signal chain. Also, you mentioned low end being a problem, try searching for high and low pass filters and how they help a lot in shaping some tone. A great free EQ plugin is the TDR Nova, so try that out as well
@SuRGeoNofDeaTH.3 жыл бұрын
@@frpcastro Thx for all your suggestions mate. I have some EQ plugins like Fabfilter etc. But i struggle to get a decent low cut tone to be actually happy (although i'm never completely happy with my sound) So, in signal chain you recommend EQ-HorizonDrive-Amp-IR for example?
