Beneath the Remains and Arise are very special Sepultura thrash albums. ARISE takes the lead by a hair, as it should being the natural follow up with the benefit of progression. Great band. QUADRA is the CD I have waited over 20 years for. Things went down when Max left, but I didnt automatically assume they would be awful without him.

Exodus are one of my most absolute favorite bands, the song Last Act of Defiance is a fucking ripper. Another great Thrash band is Violator, also Possessed are classic, always referred to as death metal but their sound is straight up thrash. Demolition hammer are also a sick thrash/death metal band I like alot. Umm Morbid Saint, and also not thrash but a band you need to hear is XOTH from Seattle, technical spacey black thrashy death metal. Check out their newest album "interdimensional Invocations" self released and really next level shit I know you would appreciate.

Favourite classic thrash metal band: Metallica. Favourite new wave thrash bands: Evile and Havok. Ps. That answer of the question of the day really touched me. I had that flick of a switch moment after a really tumultuous relationship ended. It's one of my weaknesses that I care too much about what people think of me and that I want to please those people. But when that relationship ended, I just stopped caring...It was such a weird but at the same time relieving feeling. I was always working so hard in school and at work to please others that it brought me to the brink of a severe depression. But having that flick of a switch moment really made me realise what's important in life. And for me those things are my closest friends and bandmates and the good times we spend together, since those are the things you will remember with a smile when you are old. Keep up the good work Ola and Louise! Greetings from a long time fan from the Netherlands.

The first time I heard Chuck “sing” I almost went into a coma! I grew up in Orlando, Florida and during the 80s there was a show or concert EVERY weekend! I seen so many of them live! Metallica, Slayer, Megadeath, Testament, Anthrax, Danzig, you name it and I have the ticket stub! There will never be another time like it! Anthrax were actually more popular than Slayer and Megadeth at certain points during the 80's and early 90's. If you look at the album chart positions by year, some of their early to mid-career albums were ranked higher than Slayer and Megadeth albums at the time. Their videos were in heavy rotation on MTV and they also had a series of mainstream crossovers like the famous collaboration with Run-DMC on their song "Bring the Noise" and a guest appearance on the episode of "Married With Children", but for some reason since the mid 90s their popularity started declining while the other 3 of the big four were successful at maintaining their relative popularity level throughout the rest of the 90's and early 00's and that's probably why people these days think of them as the 4th of the four, or maybe even undeserving of the spot in the big four. One thing that hit them really hard in the aftermath of 9/11 was the series of terror attacks with letters laced with anthrax that almost caused them to change their name.

100% agree with you on Testament. Practice what you Preach is still, to me, one of the best opening album songs ever and one of my favorite riffs. Favorite Thrash band is......well I love THE BIG 4 (Metallica til Justice then I just like it) Testament and Exodus.

Forbidden's Forbidden Evil and Twisted Into Form are two masterpieces of thrash. Also Heathen Victims of Deception. Vektor is about the only modern band that I actually like. It's difficult going for current metal because I also know there are still lots of albums from the 80s and 90s that I still haven't heard.

Exodus was one of the first, if not THE first thrash band. Kirk Hammett started that band, yet people credit Dave Mustaine with creating thrash. Dave wasn't the only one playing this style of music. It was a movement, not just individuals. As for Slayer not evolving, they turned into something different when bands like Machine Head came out.

Favorite was probably a 3-way tie back when I was in high school, 84-87, between Anthrax, Metallica, and Slayer. Seeing Slayer on their '87 tour was incredible. It was the last show I saw in Los Angeles as a teen. It was a crazy evening. Lightning in the sky over LA and a dead body outside the venue. Some poor soul on a bicycle was run down. Flotsam and Jetsam was also incredible that night.

Awesome way to start the morning, thank you Ola and Louise and the super metal head pooch that you have, shes metal wagging mad!!!! YEA A! One trash band that had a huge impact on me and my friends was Destruction back in the day. Bestial invasion, what a great tune. #1 Was Metallica but closely followed by Anthrax, Exodus and Megadeth for us, then followed by Slayer and the regular non thrash bands like Priest, Maiden, Ozzy, Raven for us at least. Later on Dream Theater and Pantera. BUT< it all started with Black Sabbath for the metal era for my influences. Cheers Al
