I met them and hung out in their dressing room on the Reinventing the Steel tour. I was working for Guitar Center Detroit at the time, and got called to repair Pete Sandoval of Morbid Angel's kit. As repayment, I hung out with them, and Max Cavalera during his time with Soulfly and watched Pantera perform from beside the drum riser by the sound board. Afterward, they invited me back to their dressing room, where I got to meet Rex, Dime, and Vinnie (Phil had a headache, I'm over it). Dime was the absolute nicest guy, running around making sure everyone had a beer, even little old me. He was just so good and had such energy that made you feel so good to be near him. Vinnie even sat and let me just geek out and talk shop with him, he was so kind and patient. And Rex was such a real person, just a genuine guy who was out with his friends making the best music possible. It was glorious, imprinted onto my brain indelibly forever. Rest in a Vulgar Display of Power, boys.

We hung around for a while and there was no sign of anybody so decided to head off and get some food, just as we turned around walking towards us in the distance was a man with a pink beard. We thought he might just say hi and keep going but he stopped and talked to us for nearly half an hour just about everything and anything, he had been record shopping in Camden and showed us what he'd bought. I'll always remember that moment as he was one of the few guitar hero's that I've met that was actually as cool as I thought he would be.

When I was 15, I started listening to Pantera. As time went on, me and my friends became more and more and more obsessed. We watched the Pantera home videos for inspiration before our drunken teenage escapades. My friends all played guitar except me. I just always felt I would never be good enough to jam with my friends and especially with my friend Julio (real name Justin). He was on a goddamn quest for Dimebags chugging tone. He was fucking amazing and wrote riffs that were really his sound . Julio and I, would steal any magazine with Dimebag in it. We read everything he said and loved that guy like a brother. My friendship with him was deeply connected with Dimebag...then he became super religious. He gave away his guitars, CD's and gear...Damageplan was coming here not that long after Julio's awakening. Me and my friends bought a ticket for him, he wouldn't even take it. Not long after Dimebag was killed. I called him because I wanted to talk with someone who understood my pain...I cried like I sprained my pussy...he never had a hint of grief in his voice. I felt so alone. I watched this Vlog and it made me feel a bit better about Dimebag being gone. I don't feel so alone...But it still reminds me of the death of my friendship with Julio, which actually inspired me too learn and play guitar and in my own way keep the Dimebag spirit alive. It was heavy too watch in the video you visiting the grave, I can't imagine actually being there. Thank you for sharing Ola. PS I got too interview Vinnie in 2005 for a magazine. Hi Ola! Firstly I just wanted to say a big THANK YOU for sharing this experience. I felt your excitement and humbleness at both the gravesite and home of Dime and Vinnie. You know sometimes you can get a lot about a person from their album, book or DVD collection. Just seeing all the memorabilia and cool stuff everywhere in Dimes home, just made me think, and not to sound derogative but Dime was just a big kid!!! And footage on youtube shows no airs or graces, just a down to earth fun loving and caring man. An incredible guitar player with a child like heart and spirit! He is definitely one person that I would have loved to have had a one to one with. both Vinnie and Dime! Two rare souls that in the music business, they are among very few that would give you their time and have your back and not expect anythings back. Two humble souls that understood humility. With all my love, Rest in peace. XX

Damn it's so weird to see the guy 6:42 at work. Like he is the lead guitarist in Frozen Soul. Been following that band forever and now I randomly see him in ola's vid

Everything while I’m having fun, (like you seem to be) I just had my VERY TALENTED IT friend do some research... It all started with that sex pic of yours. 👍 Completely inappropriate and unnecessary. Let’s see what he digs up. 😀

I’d love to visit someday to pay my respects and leave some flowers and a black tooth. He was one of the most gifted guitarists ever and I love your Pantera covers they’re spot on

When I visited last, they didn't have the marker yet on Vinnie's grave. Everytime I'm in Dallas I make the short drive to Arlington

WTF! How didn't I see you in the Demon and Wizard show in Dallas? I'm sad now :(. I'm glad you enjoyed the lone star state.

If you have ever stood over Dimes grave you get a certain chill. I KNOW you got it Ola. Happens to everyone who visits it that I have talked to. Dimes spirit is there and its welcoming us and saying "thanks". I met him 3 times and he was always the most grateful guy ever. He genuinely loved and appreciated his fans. That same vibe I got at his grave was the same vibe I got when I would talk to him. You met him brother.

That’s cool you came to Arlington, TX and to the Guitar center I have come to for relaxation and being a kid. I go to the one in Fort Worth on Heritage trace. It’s smaller than the Arlington one but a little piece of home still. Come back again soon man TX loves you

Definitely! I'm going for 5th time. It's been a blast to see how finnish front metal musicians pay tribute to their heroes. I never had chance to see Pantera live.

I'm really happy. I just realized that you went to the fort worth stockyards. I went to the stockyards last time I visited my grandma, she sadly passed away last year and I don't know if I will ever be back to Dallas, I wish I knew about pantera back then I could've visited these places. Anyway I'm really happy that I walked in the exact same place that you did at the stockyards🤘🏻

I don't live very far from Arlington, but would never have the opportunity to check out Dimebag's home. What a unique home for a talented and unique individual. Thank's Ola, for the look see.

Ola....I made the trip to their markers this summer (a trip I never thought I'd be able to make), and like you, I wasn't sure what to say standing there....I was alone and had a head's worth of things to say, but standing there, I found myself in a peaceful awe and just taking in the serenity of the place. I'm a bit envious of our brothers and sisters who are close enough to be able to visit often. Cheers!!!!

I thought the exact same thing when I seen the yard. Or Dime and Zakk knocking down the stop sign.

Also, before everyone gets more confused as to what the hell was Dave Grohl doing there, he was the cook for the BBQ stand at Ride for Dime. Surely I have confused you all much more.

not sure if your still reading comments this far back, saw pantera two days ago, my hats are down to all of you OGs out there, I wasnt listen to Pantera early on in my life, 23 now but I fully appreciate every member that has put time into pantera, I wanted to cry when I saw dimebag and vinnys outline displayed on the side screens, I felt the pain. there will never be another dimebag
