To me, the interpretation of the music video is this: A man is depressed in the world and body he lives in. So his soul travels around the earth and through history to find peace and joy. He realizes that the world is full of death and destruction and so meets the devil who then tells him he will take the man's soul to a eutopic paradise. The man agrees and lets the devil take him to this eutopic paradise in a different world. When the man arrives he realizes that this "perfect place" is actually an artificially created hell where no one else exists and everything is fake (because a perfect artificial eutopic world does not actually exists). And so the mans soul runs to the edge of this hell and jumps off into the space time continuum to then rejoin his body. The moral of the story is to be careful what you ask for because you just might get it. Be careful searching for paradise because what you think is paradise might actually be hell in the end.

Thanks for the detailed explanation. I think you’re right too. I just love that since The Stage, the lyrics are so amazingly deep, questioning life, existence, our purpose. And I can’t get enough of it. Can’t wait for the rest of the album!

If you say so.... If you ask me, if the message isn't obvious the first time around, someone didn't do their job right. A 5+ minute music video should never be that subjective and left to interpretation
@justacasualguy13

i think its more so about life being just a dream, i mean the the album is litearally called "life is but a dream". the singer in this scene is the the peron dreaming and thats why he is saying "i am god" and "i am the sun" etc. though that is more so just the lyric side, the video itself can be interpreted in many ways which is great.
@justacasualguy13

@@Britton_Thompson why not though? i feel like the whole point of this album and video is getting people to think. it being more open to interpretation does just that.

more i listen to it more i get addicted to it, but first time hearing it was so weird and mixed emotions that i instantly started listening to it on repeat. it has so many layers that it's imposiible to catch everything at once, every more listen reveals every little secret they put in this song. it's gonna be long three months before we get album (especially after teasing us with this "controversial" song) but god damn this song will get me throu that time quickly. i am greatful to be fan of a band that isn't scared of changes and doing "unpopular" stuff

This was pretty much my reaction too. Wasn’t sure what to think after the first listen, but on the 10th or so listen, I absolutely love it. Musically and lyrically, it’s so deep. They’re continuing on the same path from The Stage, but it’s new and fresh, yet completely Avenged Sevenfold.

I really miss the older albums (Waking the Fallen, White Album, even The Stage) for the pure energy & performance. I like this song too but it's a million miles away from the old stuff, don't get me wrong I still love them & will buy whatever they bring out. I sincerely worry about Matt's voice, I know about his op etc.. but I really think all the years of screaming & aggressive singing has damaged his voice to the point of no coming back.... Please don't hate on me for these comments they are constructive & I think balanced.... I love the band, they're my favourite ever band, this song is great but it's just not at the same level as the old music. A7X forever

Is it just me or does the mix seem of in some places? Like the first time the brass comes in. Feels like they might have put in too much at once? But overall i love this, it just grows on me. And how they use the theme, lyrics, visuals and music to make this come to life is just out of this world

Missing low end?? I dare you to listen to this in a car with subs. I have 2 12s and it fucking slaps. Like huge bass. It shakes the place lol. But this song is a amazing masterpiece. A lot of people are mad because it’s not like city of evil or waking the fallen. I get it dude I loved those albums so much. Especially city of evil. Still my favorite album by them hands down. Yet at least. But the was up there. It just needed a little more. And I think this is going to be it. If they keep down this path I think this will either beat city of evil for me or at least be a close second. But anyways it’s a song to were the worst it will ever be is the first time you listen to it. I mean not bad. But that’s the worst it will be. And it will get better and better with every damn listen. Now I’m obsessed and I can not stop listening to it to and from work. And then watching reactions on KZbin to it. I’m obsessed lol.

Huge fan of A7X but this song makes me mad. If this had no video Nobody would talk about it. It's horribly mixed, chaotic in a bad way, repetitive and monotone. The arpeggios in the choruses sound like a sweeping exercise sticked on a backing track.

I've listened numerous times and I still don't like it. It just isn't what I was hoping for. I was REALLY hoping The Stage would end up a one-off, and they'd return to their signature A7X sound on the new album. Unfortunately, it seems they've doubled down and decided to become even more boring, pretentious, and faux-intellectual for the remainder of their careers. Ugh.... just, no, please... For Chrissakes, can they not just rock out again?! Can they not just write a few more songs about going out to the bar, getting trashed, and ending up in fist fights one last time before it's too late?! No one turns to their favorite rock/metal band for artistic statements on contemporary art. We just want them to crank the amps up as loud as they can go and ride the fucking lightening! That's it. That is all we ask of them. Why is that so hard to do nowadays?
