For anyone rushing down here to tell me that what I kept referring to as the snail’s antennae are really its eye stalks or tentacles, I AM AWARE. However, I decided I didn’t want to take the time to reshoot, re-edit, then re-upload this video. Instead, help me give this adorable snail a name!! 🐌🐌🐌

@@raesreadsandrambles this is definitely a fun mold!!! I don’t think I’d want to find a live snail this size in my garden, but as a cast item, it’s adorable 🥰

Okay so I'm back again I just went down an anatomy of snails rabbit hole and they are in fact referred to as tentacles in everything I've seen some snails have 2 sets (this is what started me on this road my tiny molds have 2 pairs) the upper set has the eyes and lower set is for smelling and feeling.... all did you watch Julie? Pour hers yet she tilted the mold and poured in parts to keep the shell part at one complete style...

He turned out so cute!! Even with the battle scars! That just gives him character! You should name him Herman.

Watered down mushy wall spackling will fill cracks and bubbles. It needs to be watered down to a soft putty or it won't stick proper. Then it has to dry for 24 hours or it will pop off. I let mine dry for a few days, then once it's dry it's attached. I use elmers glue to glow on things like the antennas then after that's dry fill the cracks with spackling let it dry, then paint paint it. :) I use perfect cast, it's the same type of material as aqua cast and resincrete.

Thank you for sharing. Personally I mix the color in my water then add the powder. I have had luck with a combination of ink acrylic paint and jacquard acid dye in powder form. Color concentration is still iffy but the color is beautiful. I've had my acid dyed for a couple of decades - probably still made but not sure.

I wonder if Black Alumalite Dye would do the trick, it’s highly-concentrated and used for resin and clothes-dyeing
@LuxindasOtherObsessions2 жыл бұрын
My guess is it wouldn’t be any better than the other two concentrated black resin dyes I’ve tried that did nothing. But I haven’t tried it yet so 🤷♀️ maybe I’m jumping to an unfair conclusion 😁

Just a suggestion. But have you ever tried adding powered color to the dry mix before adding it to the water?
@LuxindasOtherObsessions2 жыл бұрын
I haven’t - I can’t think that it would make a difference, but I can certainly give it a shot. Thanks!

If you can use any amount of water, can you add more water when using the acrylic paint?
@LuxindasOtherObsessions2 жыл бұрын
Yes! The problem is that it doesn’t make any difference (or it didn’t for me), so I didn’t even bother with that in this video. In a previous video, when I first tried acrylic paint to get a decent black and it started thickening up so quickly, I added more water because that seemed so obvious (and is a huge advantage of Aqua Cast), but the mixture didn’t loosen up at all - the additional water wouldn’t even mix in. Very weird, especially since any water-based colorant (which includes acrylic paint) is supposed to be fine in Aqua Cast. It did occur to me that I’ve used only the one Liquitex Basics brand so far, so maybe I need to get some other black acrylic paints and do a test with those.
@darialacy21512 жыл бұрын
@@LuxindasOtherObsessions That is weird. Testing another brand of acrylic paint seems like an obvious trial. I also wonder if putting more water in in the first place, since you know you want black black would be of any use. I haven't yet tried Aqua Cast or any of the similar... so am watching your videos with great curiosity. Solid dark colors would seem to be one of the things one would want, and fighting a normally white product seems a challenge. But I do like the look of some of the things you and others have done. Somehow, I trust your evaluations more than some of the others. You do try every which way with products. I love it!!!! LOL! Can't say our tastes always run the same gamut (not fond of skulls for instance), but you do make learning so much fun! Like you, I like so many different crafts. Unlike you, I don't have the discipline to stay with only a couple of venues. My current... wire wrap jewelry... but still keep up with your vids... to inspire me back to resin, etc. :)

Thank you! Yes, I finally got some black colorant made especially for concrete and plaster, so I’m very hopeful it’ll work well in Aqua Cast 🤞🖤
