Totally agree. She and her brother write the songs they like, how they like to write them. They write what they know and she sings how she feels. You just know if she had come through a label someone from marketing would have turned up and said “we listened to the song and have concerns it lacks appeal so we cut two minutes from the intro and decided Cardi B will rap the middle 8”. 🤦♂️

Thanks for you reaction/review - I believe you will find most Billie songs to be either enjoyable or intriguing - as a metal guy, there could be some you'd find a little boring or dull ( I don't!). But here's a couple to listen to/look at: "Bury A Friend" (the music video) from Jan. 30, 2019, and "No Time to Die" [ live at the Brit Awards, Feb. 18, 2020 ] - this 2nd one is the song for the 25th installment of the James Bond movie franchise, and the last movie with Daniel Craig as James Bond. Billie and her brother FINNEAS wrote the song - Hans Zimmer, the great composer ( from Deutschland ) for movies/films orchestrated it. Billie is 19 ( Dec. 18, 2001) and FINNEAS is 24 ( July 30, 1997 ). FINNEAS co-writes the songs with Billie and FINNEAS produces everything. I imagine you'er familiar with the Finnish symphonic metal band, Nightwish's "Ghost Love Score" with Floor Jansen as lead vocalist, and the Ukranian metal band Jinjer's "Pisces" with Tatiana S singing. If not they will blow you away.

I have a classical piano background. For the ukelele portion, her voice and the uke overlap in such a way where her voice drapes over the instrumental just with a slight delay and its so well done; she has such a great touch/feel for it. Her last line, "just fucking leave me alone" also needed to achieve a climatic crescendo and its done with delayinh the background vocals along with her own voicing even more spread out evenly which is amazing. Classical music has more nuance and layers than modern pop crap but Billie Eilish has extremely good layering and voicing compared to her peers.

Opinions are like assholes, but I would like to say that opinions differ significantly from assholes and you should have yours constantly and thoroughly examined. A fun quote from Tim Minchin. I live in Orlando, Florida, and my husband is in five bands. Ranging from metal, pop punk, country, and 1930s Sinatra standards. You don’t have to like, “new stuff“ I’m pretty stubborn and set in my ways, but I am so thankful to have such a diverse group around me to show me new fun things like this.
