Eu hoje tenho 81 anos e estou aposentado desde 2005 , esse torno pelo ruido que faz deve ser da minha idade. Já tem muita folga nos carretos da caixa Norton. Em Portugal em 1965 o diferencial para levantar as peças já era de motor elétrico com comando de botões. Foi bom recordar velhos tempos, boa sorte para o amigo Brasileiro torneiro e uma dica para o amigo que falou das máquinas CNC . Ainda existem muitos tornos convencionais para oficinas de reparação, nesse caso não compensa ter uma máquina CNC que só serve para trabalhos em série em quantidade e de alta precisão.

In my 60 years of machining I am amazed that he didn’t adjust the steady rest to center at the chuck end of the workpiece.

I am very much interested in machine tools from my childhood. We have a small workshop at our house having two lathe machines, one drilling machine. Later the workshop expanded and shifted to a new large workshop manufacruring high vacuum pumps and electrical lamp manufacturing machines. Our joint family broke and the workshop shut down due to mainly the labour problem . My interest in machine tools remains today. I am a regular viewer of lathe machine working of many Pakistani workshops. They are artiste in the true sense. They manufacture and restore different machines using lathe machines of the 2nd. world war era ! Now I discovered your KZbin channel and immediately subscribed. Waiting to view your other videos. I enjoyed watching the video.I did a Five Year Indentured Apprenticeship in Marine Engineering.The shaft sizes I worked on was 3ft in diameter by 30ft long.These were Tail shaft’s and connecting shaft’s from the Main Engine to the Propeller.There was other size shafting worked on, and also produced.

Дело в тон на сколько ты знаешь оборудование.на котором ты трудишься,а его надо знать доскаонально ,это как приготовить еду на современной плите и на костре,если ты знаешь как управлять огнём.хотя он не кажется особо управляемым,то но нем можно приготовить еду ещё более вкусно чем на современной плите,эти станки не уйдут из использования ещё долго,потому как ремонтные работы(обточка сварки на карданах,востановление валов итд итп)не куда не денутся.а ЧПУ для этого не предназначен,так что и станок 19 века будет востребован))

सर , मुझे नया मशीन शॉप शुरू करना है , लेकिन एक सलाह चाहिए आजकल मैन्युअल लेथ के लेबर रेट: १५०/- एक घंटे के चल रहे हैं .... इसके हिसाब से - अगर १६ घंटे भी ( दो शिफ्ट में) एक मशीन चलते है , ज्यादा से ज्यादा 65,000 रुपये - एक महीने में निकला जा सकता है उसमे से सारे खर्च भी निकलना है - ( किराया , बिजली, ऑपरेटर का सैलरी , टूल्स, मेंटेनेंस और सारे दूसरे खर्च ) अपने हाथ में क्या बचेगा धन्यवाद

Why didn't you show us how to center up the steady rest to the diameter of the bar doesn't any of your feeds work on your lathe and why do you use a pry bar stuck in your wheel for leverage I didn't make it through the whole video nothing was on par from what I was taught here in the states at least he didn't brag about how no one else knew how to do it or very few knew how bullshit we see all the time at least we saw a man hard at work doing his job more than I can say for some thank you for the video

Don't ever run a hot rolled bar in a steady like that 😠. Its not a true round. You can see the top of the steady lepping around.

If there's not much to come off it run it slowly on just the two lower pins with the top off it and drill your centre hole carefully, if you're turning a lot more off it accurately mark the dead centre at that end and centre drill it with a hand drill
