Cupping is only a problem if it's a crutch, when not it's just another technique. Kyo's generally very intentional in how he utilizes it, as something like clarity isn't necessarily the goal.

You're absolutely right that nobody starting out should be trying to emulate his posture or mic grip - he's got at least two decades under his belt and knows his limits and what's going to work and isn't - most of us Won't. Lord, you caught some hell for your remarks on Kyo's posture and cupping the mic, lol, I'm so sorry - I was classically trained, and watching him crouch like that gives my younger self the twitches (where is his air?! What is he doing? He's going to be wheezing by the end of that phrase!). He's absolutely amazing, though - the range of this song is ridiculous for a live performance. (I've always wondered how many speakers he's blown out/sound engineers hate him, lol) Thanks for the thoughtful remarks, it's appreciated :)

It’s double impressive how he kept getting stronger and better vocally despite the fact he did everything possible to clog his airways He’s a deity among singers

Thank you for your insights! Kyo really concentrates on the performance so it's true that a lot of things are done in order to better portray the emotions of the song. He's not the type of singer who sings every note perfectly. Rather, he would throw out everything that he has on his soul and even if technically it won't be flawless it will still be awesome This position when he bends (I personally call it a spider 😂) has already become his signature pose. I've never seen other singers do it so often and so artistic. So, I'm sure that it's not a problem in his case. Most of the times he does that during growl parts so I guess it's quite comfortable for him Once again thank you for your reaction and have a great day!

Most likely, Kyo will say "I know, I'm doing it on purpose for expression". So I'm more interested on why he thought it was necessary. On cupping the mic. I'm no pro but lots of top artists tends to purposely wrap their fingers around the mic in certain way, so it sounds the way they want. I see it as a technique and not a mistake.

Definitely this....Kyo is acknowledged by many to be one of THE most talented vocalists on the planet just in his sheer ability to control his voice so believe us when we say if Kyo wanted to sing and scream on pitch...he wouldn't have trouble doing that. Dir en grey in general is all about the emotion of the moment and subverting expectations in vocal patterns, the poetic lyrics, the song structure etc etc.

Different video and different performances.. commenting on my video about a different video is silly. Its also not complaining its an observation. Relax Bud.

@@parkriver "it is the only thing I am kind of complaining about" then I also go on to say "its really just me being critical of this particular spot" then I also go on to point out when he isn't the cupping the mic.. its like you guys try find anything to be upset about. Simply to put.. you don't have to watch my videos.

A vast majority of this reaction, if not all of it, is praise for Kyo. He acknowledges his vocal range, his presence as a performer, and just his overall talent. Why focus on the one criticism he had which didn’t even take away from his thoughts on Kyo as a vocalist?
@TrintonTaylor4 жыл бұрын
@@flightgravity7483 unfortunately most people, don't watch the whole video. So they will get to 1 thing they don't like and then comment without finishing a video. And some people or should I say most people on the internet well their natural instinct about most things is to get defensive as soon as someone has a different opinion than their own... on the internet its dammed if you do and dammed if you don't.. its easier to be a keyboard warrior when you're hiding behind a screen defending a band, person, thing that never asked to be defended lol.

Can totally see your point with the cupping the mic, but the thing about is more of an effect as in, he's holding it in desperation (the character he's portraying is about to be executed so I mean who wouldn't haha). Kyo is realllyy theatrical when he preforms and its really cool to see. Of course tho I can see why you were a little iffy about the cupped mic haha. Also I like that you're genuine and honest reacting to Diru, I know at least a couple of people haven't commented on things like that because they feel like they shouldn't because of the Fandom or feeling like they shouldn't question Kyo because he's a literal god.

Not sure if you’re interested in doing another one of these but I feel like since you’re a metal vocalist then it would be a lot more interesting for you to do an analysis of one of Kyo’s more extreme live vocal performances. Apparently he was sick during this show and he still put 110% effort into the show. He also had to be taken to hospital soon after the show. kzbin.info/www/bejne/eYaqgnx5i5uEg5o Anyways, hope you can react to this. Love the vids
