I knew I could count on you BIRB! I was disappointed that none of the reactors I follow checked out this song and I was actually even asking Drew to check it out. Glad you made a video of it and could actually appreciate this new direction the band is taking! It is a solid track and deserves to get BIG! And you guys are one of the reasons why many bands get the spotlight, and while Starset is not a small band, they deserve every bit of exposure that they can get!!

As a long time Starset fan, there's another big pro to this song on top of what you mentioned: it truly feels like a fusion of all the styles they evolved through over the last 4 albums, then made heavier. You can hear little bits and pieces that feel so much like Transmissions, or Vessels, or Divisions, etc with the heavier side they brought in tracks like Devolution on Horizons cranked up a few notches, and it's amazing. It feels like a culmination of their evolution, like we're finally seeing Starset in their perfected form

Just went to my third Starset concert last night in Boston. HOLY MOLY DID THEY GO HARD. Their Immersion tour and incorporation of story, AR-technology and just overall presentation is A+ Tier. Brave New World got played and the crowd WAS THERE FOR THOSE SCREAMS.

I'm actually kinda annoyed because I saw them live for their immersion tour April 27th, then May 2nd they drop a new song, so they DIDN'T play it at our show. It would have gone so hard live. Also it was my first time seeing them live, I had no idea there was going to be lore. it was a lot of fun.

I’ve seen them twice. The first time they opened for Seether and Breaking Benjamin and then I saw them on Monday. They were great both times, but both venues sucked. At the first, the acoustics was terrible and the second, the stage was very small and too low. So low that you could only see Dustin from the chest up and couldn’t see the drummer, cellist and violinist.

I’ve listened to starset since their first album in 2014. They’re always known as rock band, not hard rock just rock. So this really surprised me even if I knew that the lead singer, Dustin could do harsh vocals. I’m no tech person but the breakdown is definitely headbang-able. They made it to spotify all new metal playlists too. Thanks for giving them a listen and share your thoughts here with metalhead community

Iirc the harsh vocals are shared by vocalist and guitarist, at least live. Last time I saw 'em was 2019 or so, but I don't imagine that's changed. It sounds like two different vocalists at parts in the song too, so that would line up.

Gotta say, this is my new favorite Starset song. There's so much that's new for them that it doesn't feel like an average Starset song. Not to mention that Dustin KILLED IT with the harsh vocals, so if this is a preview for the full album, it's going to be a great one.

My favorite Starset songs up to this point were always Ricochet and Telepathic, and it was never really that close. I like the band, and their first two albums are great, but I don't really go back to them. With DIVISIONS and HORIZONS they shifter their sound a little to be instrumentally a little heavier (djenty, low-tuned guitar) but didn't really change anything else about the song-writing, producing a cognitive dissonance kind of thing for me as a listener, pushing me away from the band overall. Brave New World tho is great because it actually takes their heavier tendencies and brings it out of the woodwork, really utilizing it. Who would have thought Dustin had such brutal lows? You also spoke to how they used even the basic parts of a metalcore song structure very tastefully - never overdoing it but managing to make a longer than average song for the genre. For me, I'm just glad to see Starset do something a little different. I love metalcore, so of course I'm happy with Brave New World, but they've teased these things for so many years it's been exhausting, and them FINALLY making a full-on metalcore track was really satisfying. This one is 100% in my top three Starset tracks, maybe even my new #1, and I personally want to see them do an entirely metalcore record (or at least one that more consistently utilizes those elements), cuz that could EASILY come out to being AotY, and my favorite of their work if they went that direction.

Great reaction and review! Just wanted to point out that Starset follows a narrative that actually has a legitimate storyline. There are 2 full length novels that the music albums are related to-this is the “lore” as they call it. When you go to their stand alone shows (especially the latest tour “immersion” ) there are movie clips in between songs that tie the storyline to the music plus a kick ass holographic projector and other visual effects. Everything they do musically is deliberate and thought out, Dustin the lead singer, is a phd candidate in electrical engineering-he’s one smart cookie.

@@GabagoolGameOver They've had a "heavy" song on every album since Vessels. It's not their every song style, but there is always at least one. And Bad Omens is getting softer while Starset seems to be getting heavier. I imagine there will be some overlap, but I think the clone accusation just doesn't make sense. Gravity of You and Telekinetic are heavier than this one anyway. And both of them are as close to BMTH as they are to each other anyway.

@@micahbannister1287 no one brought up BMTH, so I don’t know why that’s even a thing in this conversation lol. Secondly, I didn’t mention that it’s “heavy.” Heavy =/= “bad omens clone,” considering bad omens isn’t even that heavy. This isn’t even that heavy. Neither of these bands are heavy lol. @@GabagoolGameOver "Lol no they haven’t. They’ve never been this heavy." You brought up the heaviness man. Don't bring up points if you can't remember them. I addressed it by saying that they have been making music like this for a while, "heaviness" and all. That was the whole point. BMTH is another band that they share similarities with. You aren't calling Bad Omens a BMTH clone, when they are as similar as Starset and Bad Omens are to each other. I'm not making up points for you, I am making my own singular point. Calling Starset a Bad Omens clone is a bad take. Starset has been doing this style longer than Bad Omens anyway. Which you tried to refute by referencing heaviness... Which I refuted by referencing heaviness... The conversations a day old, man. if you can't keep it straight then there's nothing I can do to help you. Bad take. Starset good. Starset do thing longer than Bad Omens do thing. Heaviness a part of that thing. Both thing that bands do similar to thing BMTH do. Clones of BMTH? No. So clones of each other? No.
