OG metal head from the 80s here, and BTS is now my favorite group. Just saying’ There’s lots of metal heads on KZbin in love with BTS. Their supreme artistry is undeniable. The depth of their lyricism, the insane scope of diversity in their music, their social messaging speaking truth to power and their support of mental health, the complexity of their storytelling through concept albums and the through line of the unfolding mystery of the BU (Bangtan Universe) in all their content, the talent in their vocals and their dancing, their open and honest and loving relationship with their fans, and their genuine humble and incredibly likable personalities are the core of their appeal - not looks or a slick marketed product like most KPop. There really is nothing else like them. BTS were from a broke independent label and literally fought their way to the top, past massive and organized hate and suppression by the music industry, on sheer talent and an organically grown fan base starting on KZbin. They are now the most awarded musicians in the history of music, globally.

Hi, 54 yr old Army here! Thanks for your reaction, you somehow came across as if you were hesitant to look deeper? Perhaps I got that wrong. Don't make the mistake of pigeon holing them in any way, they are very diverse and amazing performers but in real life can be real chaotic and funny. Their history, which has been a hard road for them, made them into a genuine brotherhood and they really love and care for each other. Just real brothers who have been through hell together and made it, through their determination and damn hard work. It's a real tale of the underdog making it big. The ultimate rags to riches story with a lot of battles against prejudice/hatred etc and not being taken seriously just because they speak a different language. It's their personalities that make you fall in love with them, and of course the rest is the icing on the cake! Plus, they're NOT BORING! Lots of metalhead Army out there, who I'm sure didn't expect to like them, but do! Army ages range from babies (not kidding) to 80+ years old from all professions and all a whole gamut of life. Majority is 20's +. So I hope you do continue your journey. This should be in your wheel house: MMA 2019 FULL LIVE Dionysus: kzbin.info/www/bejne/ooLWqKuMfamibrc from their own channel. When you said they’re pop, and realized you were doing a cypher, I giggled. They do everything. I grew up on rock, metal, rap and everything in between. So I'm old (well...middle aged), and grew up in the 90's/2k's listening to alt, punk, goth, emo, etc...well, and ska punk, lol, so I'm not 100% angst all the time. But yeah, wore a lot of black, we'll just put it that way. That said, I would've never even thought to check BTS out if I didn't have a clip where they were guests on the James Corden show autoplay while I was home sick from work and too lethargic to give a f to search for another video. It sounds extra dramatic, but seriously, that carpool karaoke clip was life changing 😂 I am so deeply ingrained into the BTS ARMY (fandom) now it would be embarrassing if I weren't actually so proud of it. Their talent is honestly shocking, and every song they make is different from the last. They have some super-saccharine bubble gum pop, surprisingly hard rap and hip hop, and even a song that I personally think is a great example of 2000's emo (Fake Love). Even if all their music isn't necessarily one's cup of tea, they're so talented and prolific that it's very unlikely for someone to not find at least one thing they can appreciate about the boys. Thank you for branching out with your reaction, I hope you enjoy what you hear from BTS in the future!

And I totally get wanting to listen to music in your wheelhouse, but I'm sure others will comment that you'd be surprised how many of us come from Alternative/Modern Rock side and others from the R&B/Hip-Hop side. Thank you for checking BTS out and being open minded. There are 7 members in BTS- 3 rappers (RM, Suga, and J-Hope) and 4 vocalists (Jin, Jimin, V, and Jungkook) and they debuted in 2013. RM and Suga from BTS were underground rappers in South Korea before joining BTS and J-Hope started out as a street dancer and learned to rap after joining their company Bighit Entertainment. BTS started out as a hip hop group, but over the years they've expanded their music to include various genres and they probably have over 300 songs by this point. The members themselves are also very involved in the creation of their music. I think it's important to throw out any preconceived notions about "boy bands" in general when it comes to BTS, expect the unexpected. Yes they have more poppy songs here and there, but there is also plenty of songs that's aren't like that at all. BTS audience is also very diverse and I actually think it would be even more diverse if certain people weren't so afraid to check them out because they are a boy band who sing and rap in Korean. BTS often speak on subjects in their music that people of all ages and backgrounds can relate to so that's why their fanbase is so diverse. And I'm not kidding saying BTS are some of the best performers I've ever seen in my 35 years. Don't get me wrong I love their music on it's own, but their performances take it to another level. Right now all the members are pursuing solo activities because military service is mandatory in South Korea for all able bodied men for 18-21 months. Jin the oldest member of BTS enlisted in December and J-Hope will be the 2nd member to enlist soon (he has a date, it's just not been revealed to the public yet). The others will enlist after their solo activities are completed, but they plan to reunite in 2025 if all goes well. Make no mistake BTS is still very much a group and this is something all male Korean groups have to go through. J-Hope released his solo album called Jack In the Box last July and headlined at Lollapalooza. You might really enjoy that performance which is available to watch on BTS youtube channel called Bangtantv because his album had some rock influence to it. He also released his song On the Street with J. Cole as a goodbye present before he goes to the military. RM released his album called Indigo in December with features from Erykah Badu and Anderson .Paak. Jin released a song called The Astronaut he worked on with the band Coldplay before he enlisted in the military. And Jimin just released a new song a few days ago called Set Me Free Pt.2 and his album Face comes out this Friday along with the title track called Like Crazy.

You pace yourself, ARMY can be overwhelming! Having said that, I'm a 43yo metalhead, that fell in love with Japanese rock/metal/visual kei (X Japan, Luna Sea and Dir en grey are my favorite bands)... My jump to Korean scene was through one bassist (J, he has solo albums too) who produced an album for a Korean rock singer - Youjeen - in Japanese (the album name is The Doll). Her band is Cherry Filter... The rest is history (that was 2002). BTS debuted in 2013 (they've been together since around 2010, some came later). Full circle story: Youjeen collaborated with RM last year in a song named Wildflower (from his new album Indigo). Amazing production by docskim. He produced some other iconic songs for the group, as Lie (sung by Jimin, one of the members). Apart from the Cyphers (which you evidently noticed there were more), let us know what would you like to listen to, but I'd go to Mic Drop, ON, and some solo songs such as "So far away" by AgustD: he's another member, but uses a different name for his solo work, in BTS his stage name is SUGA, a producer as well, and maybe you could check a release from last year "Stay alive" (sung by Jungkook, another member, and produced by SUGA as mentioned). I think you'll fall in love with those songs. For more lyrical ones... Butterfly should be the one to draw you in. Again, this is how I link my thoughts, sorry for the long comment, but as I said in the beginning, pace yourself. Do your stuff, the reactions you really want to do, don't feel pressured by us in any way ^^U we love to share the music and art of BTS (you'll see us calling them Bangtan too) Cheers.

Trust the channel Enjoy BTS More for good subtitles and curated live performances. Trust the blog doolset bangtan for the most accurate - if not the most poetic - lyric translations with cultural and wordplay notes added. Don't trust the accuracy of lyric videos that will pop up at the top of a search. Don't trust any channel that uses BTS/Bangtan/BigHit/HYBE branding yet *doesn't* have 10s if millions of subscribers. If you get rabid hate or threats at any time, consider those people ARMY cosplayers here to do damage. We block and report them. ARMY is enthusiastic and eager to share - not a violent horde. 👍

This was such a pure and open-minded reaction. V interesting way to be introduced to them, purely through the music 😂 Yeah the music can absolutely stand on its own, but in my opinion it's the lyrical depth and visual artistry which really boost them to the legendary act they are, plus their consistently documented love and respect for each other and for their fans. As ARMY (the fans) have no doubt been telling you in the comments, their discography is extremely diverse, and if you're interested I'd recommend starting with the songs that are more in your comfort zone but also checking out styles you may not expect to like (Army will give you recommendations forever if you'll let us :) Good luck! 💜

This is certainly an unusual first introduction to BTS but in a good way! Hmm, what to even recommend to a metalcore fan. So far I'm thinking: j-hope - More (turn on eng CC) BTS - UGH (search for 'ENGLISH LYRICS PERFORMANCE VIDEO' that one has a decent translation) Jimin - Set Me Free pt.2 (idk why but I feel like you might find this one enjoyable and don't forget to turn on the CC) Just so you know, j-hope and Jimin are members of BTS. All members have solo work so you might see it get recommended alongside group songs. Going through whole albums is also not a bad idea as some follow a concept and are meant to be listened to top to bottom but maybe dip your toes in a little more before going deep diving. And there is a LOT of deep diving to do when it comes to BTS. 'Pop' label brings up ideas of superficiality and shallow concepts and BTS is anything but. Musically they might not be your cup of tea but the messages within most of their songs are deep and meaningful. One thing to keep in mind about kpop (which is not so much a genre but an industry) is that the visual aspect is just as important as the song itself and music videos often times tell half of the story. Also, don't hesitate to ask questions, ARMY (BTS fandom) is a walking encyclopedia of BTS knowledge and I'm really holding back from writing a whole damn essay right now🥲So yea, have fun!

Welcome! And you're correct, BTS is not strictly Pop music. There's some confusion regarding what K-Pop actually means: It's a genre that features music, dance, fashion, makeup, stages, etc. It's a whole artistic package - noot just pop music. And no, most K-pop groups do not sound like, or write lyrics like BTS. That's why they have more than 100 MILLION Army's (fans) around the world. Keep your mind open, and prepare to be blown away.

Just wanted to note that there is nothing wrong with being a Metalcore fan and reacting to BTS! There are actually many reactors I've seen that like rock music and have reacted to BTS. Some even become proper fans of them. I am personally someone whose music library mainly consists of Rock music (sometimes Post-Hardcore) and BTS are the outliers to my music taste. I think it's because they're something very refreshing to me, and they are also very versatile and like to mix genres a lot. If you get the chance, I would suggest 'More' by J-Hope (one of the BTS rappers' solo songs) if you want to see the extent of their changes in genres.

I like your reactions, plz continue to explore more BTS! Also plz consider pausing the song whenever you want to say something, so we can hear your comments more clearly and so you won't have to talk over the song. Yeah, most of the general public has no idea BTS does a ton of genres but are well known for their rap/hip-hop. Born Singer and Hip Hop Lover are great rap-heavier BTS songs with all 7 members. 2 of their rappers RM and Suga were underground battle rappers. Both of them are also the primary songwriters and producers for the group, they also write/produce solo songs for other members. Though all 7 members can write and produce. Their 3 rappers made several rap songs together, Outro: Tear is another great one. One of the best songs from BTS imo. The word for "you" or "I" in the Korean language sounds very similar to the N word in English, just know they're not actually saying the N word when you hear it lol.

BTS show us all of their multifaceted personalities. It's interesting that you started with Cypher #3, fact is they also have great poppy songs but there's a lot of genres, so many amazing songs, and never miss on their lyrics. What they stand out from other Kpop groups is defintely their authentic self written lyrics just as they are involved in the production.

Yea, BTS! This album came out when they were deep in the struggle to get their name out there. Production was working out of a garage and the guys were hustling just to get people to listen to them.

you should use color coded lyric videos for bts reactions and no , other kpop do not sound like this , you should check out other songs by them : black swan , silver spoon and fake love for starters

Those color coded lyric people are not good people and they actually are using other people's hard work for their gain - we do not support them.

I'm just curious. You said it wasn't what you were expecting, and you said you thought it was Korean Pop. The title explained what it was. It' a Cypher. Did you not know what a Cypher was? BTS debuted in 2013 as a Hip Hop Idol group, 3 rappers, and 4 vocalists, and two of the members are from underground rap, and one is from underground HIp Hop dance. They have a total of 4 Cyphers. and there are live performances. I will link you a Cypher medley with English subtitles if you want to know what they are saying. BTS has pop songs, but the think about them is they don't hold genre boundaries, but they are at their core hip hop. *Both of these songs are rap/hip hop heavy. The Cypher Medly is the rapline, and Run BTS is the whole group. Make sure to use these links for accurate subtitles, and turn on your cc's* BTS Cypher Medley (feat. Supreme Boi) performed Live w/Eng. Subs - kzbin.info/www/bejne/fIWcZGOOe5apsKM BTS - Run BTS Dance Practice w/Eng. Subs - kzbin.info/www/bejne/m4XTdqeii7OrorM

To be fair, BTS's cyphers aren't group freestyle with some improv as usually expected in hip hop. Yeah, it's a group on a beat (or several beats), but of course, we know the rapline carefully writes rather than improvising for the purposes of the recording and performance. So, the Cyphers are as close to cyphers as they can be without being cyphers _exactly_. LOLOL😅

I didn't know what a cypher was 🤣 some folks don't
@tracydowd4013 Жыл бұрын
@@evantesseract737 I thought he knew because he said he listened to a cypher from another artist. So it says cypher and he expected pop music? It was just strange to me.
@ZariDV Жыл бұрын
@@tracydowd4013 He said he listened to a song called Cypher from another artist. It's likely that he simply thought that other song was called Cypher (which it was) but didn't know that a cypher is a specific thing in music with specific traits, culture and history behind it. A lot of people who enjoy hip hop don't even know what a cypher is. It's not super common knowledge in the general public. I wouldn't be surprised if he just didn't think twice that two songs shared a name without actually understanding the meaning of the song titles. I don't know this reactor so I can't say either way but I'd be willing to give the benefit of the doubt. Even still, Korea and k-pop has their own cultures, sub-cultures and spin-offs on western music so it's easy to also assume that they could have made a k-pop spin of a Cypher based on their own k-hip hop culture with k-pop elements. It's normal for kpop to mix and match genres. Who knows?

Why songs? Check out bts albums.. BTS are album artists. You are missing out if you just react to individual songs. The artist intends for their art to be listened a certain way. I will recommend the top 3 bts albums 1. Map of the soul 7 2020 Based on Jungian psychology 2. Love Yourself Answer 2018 About the journey to loving yourself 3. Wings 2016 About sin, temptation and self doubt Also look up the lyric videos playlists on KZbin next time. You have a channel, make it informative.. you just sat through the entire song completely clueless as to what they were saying. Also for lyric video avoid ones with the most views... those aren't good. Go for ones with less views. Also you might wanna check out More by jhope. Jhope is a member of bts.

Definitely I would suggest following a link someone gave you blow to another reactor called enjoy BTS more she post really cool actual videos of their performances with the English subtitles so you can understand exactly what they're spouting when they rap and believe me they Spit fire... I'm an 80 year old woman who got into DTS about 2 years ago I've never like rap but I love their rap I read the English translations of their lyrics so I can understand what they're rapping about but I love the way rap clothes in Korean

Yup ok just say that the aside from some of the 3 best rappers around they are known for their absolutely stunning lyrics but the Cyphers (which there are 4 of) are all aimed at the many many haters BTS has had. I’d try Cypher 4 or Ugh two other hard hitting rapline only songs. BTS covers almost all genres from disco pop to Latin ballad EDM you name it. Including one metal duet they did live (with the father of K-pop Seo Teiji an intensely political rapper who has drifted to more metal/rock, at his 25h anniversary concert he did an 8 song set with BTS who he literally handed the flag to as his “sons” to flag bear political messages) the metal sing is Classroom Idea live. It’ll blow your mind it’s full scream metal.
