I'm a vocalist in a metalcore band, have been since 2012, I had cancer in 2015, didn't ask anyone for a dime, the only post from the band I put out was to tell people to go and get themselves checked by a doctor if they have any symptoms lol.

I was devastated when Tom Searle passed from cancer. I met Ryan Castaldi from Currents on his first tour back from chemo and radiation, looking like death warmed over, but still going beast mode on stage. This guy is....KZbin won't let me post it, but use your imagination.

Just lost my hair to chemo a few weeks back, cycle 2 out of 4 for stage 2b testicular cancer. Maybe this guy can lose his hair and his right ball instead of me? Wild thing to lie about, he also made it up specifically for money is the insinuation here, as he had no other reason to lie about an illness other than to pay off his debts. Shit was explicitly pre-meditated.

Nik, Thanks for sharing this situation. It’s so upsetting that Bon has to do this from people they’ve trusted him. It’s so messed up in so many ways. This infuriates me on a level I don't have words for. I lost a friend to cancer a year and a half ago & just found out a family member has cancer. For the last six (seven ?) Years I've actively been fundraising for the American Cancer Society on behalf of a life-long family friend who has a terminal diagnosis. There has to be a special place in hell for people who do this! 😡 The bands statement was one of the best I've seen in a long time. Extremely transparent, honest & heartfelt. Although I'm not familiar with the band I have a lot of empathy for the impact it has on them. I wish them the best getting this mess sorted out and wish them success in the future.

Reading Bon’s apology, he was clearly desperate. But lying about cancer is just not the way. I think pretty much everyone has some sort of personal story when it comes to cancer so it hits hard when someone takes advantage of it and makes light of something so painful. Also I just feel so bad for the rest of the band for being screwed over. Not to mention other people like my favourite band Prompts, greyscale, and everyone else who just tried to help. Bon fucked up. He would have been better off coming out explaining the actual situation and hoping people would help him so he would have been able to continue his career. Like there must have been some fans or bands that wouldn’t want to see him getting beat up or worse over illegal loans. Faking cancer was just NOT the solution. Never is.

If this had stayed under wraps, it'd be a difficult thing for him to live down, but now that it's not only public, but also having news written about it. His career is over, he's going to be receiving hate from people who have never even heard of his band, and that's ignoring the likelihood of death-threats and even actual attempts (because all the world is mad).

I was at the charity concert for ANNALYNN vocalist held by PROMPTS, and I am rather sad than angry that my ticket fee was used for a scam... PROMPTS member was also disappointed when they were told about this incident and the band member said that he will never forgive in his life for this. ANNALYNN had strong relationship with Japanese bands (Also Ryo from Knosis were close friend) this is very shocking...

situations like this, if his debt is true, I don't understand the lying about cancer part. Sure it's easy money, but it'll come out eventually that you lied If he had just been honest about debts, people would think he's an idiot but probably still would have tried to help him out. People can be generous to a fault and I don't see how the lying about cancer part was better than just being upfront about his situation (if it's even true, which likely no one will believe now anyway). But I have seen people in bad situations lie about being in a different bad situation..for some reason? It's dumb

What people like Bon don't grasp is that a cancer diagnosis is life-changing not just for that person, but the people closest to them... it literally upends your life. A lot of people struggle with being confronted with their own & their loved one's mortality, and I've supported several friends through years of treatment when their partners or family just couldn't cope with constant hospital visits & trips to the oncologist. It's an emotional roller-coaster for everyone, and once you're on that ride you can't get off... so far more than the money, this a-hole scammed his friends, family, band mates & fans _emotionally._ Absolute POS.

This is more common than you think. I knew a guy who told everyone he was dying of cancer and had 6 months to live but nothing ever happen after that. Never saw him sick. He claimed he knew Adam from oceano but when I asked Adam if he knew this man. He had no clue. People are crazy bro. I believe no one anymore lol

I have luckily not been touched by cancer but my grandma survived 3 different forms of it and my girlfriend has a super high chance of getting it. This shit is not a joke it's hell, any medical struggle that has you repeatedly poked and prodded and medicated will drain the life out of you. It is so much less shameful to just admit you have managed your money poorly, almost everyone has gone through a period like that. I have made my own life more difficult by not asking for help so I want to say now that everyone should learn from me and open your mouth before you put your own foot into it.

The singer of the band Tiamat pulled that same stunt back in 2009. He even said he lied about it for attention. I went off on him so badly on Facebook that they ended up blocking me. It made me really mad because only a scum bag would lie about having cancer and at the time my grandma was fighting cancer.
