this right here. Polygondwanaland is a required ‘full album’ listen at least, if not also Nonagon Infinity

here’s how the album is structured: Part 1: Tale of the Altered Beast A New World Altered Beast I Alter Me I Altered Beast II Alter Me II Altered Beast III Alter Me III Altered Beast IV Life / Death Part 2: Lord of Lightning vs. The Balrog Some Context The Reticent Reconteur The Lord of Lightning The Balrog The Floating Fire The Acrid Corpse Part 3: Murder of the Universe Welcome to an Altered Future Digital Black Han-Tyumi, The Confused Cyborg Soy-Protein Munt Machine Vomit Coffin Murder of the Universe each part is essentially a 10-12 minute long song broken up into smaller songs. i feel like since you reacted to long songs like Dragon and Flamethrower you could get away with at least listening to each section in full, but idk how copyright works in that way. so stoked you’re checking this one out though man!! edit: one more thing: Some Context is gonna seem incredibly throwaway at first and like it could’ve just been the start of the next song, but you’ll get the “context” once you check out Nonagon Infinity ;) their discography is a wild ride lmao

They're actually an Australian band. As for the order, Murder of the Universe has three story chapters which are all connected, the first chapter is the tale of the altered beast, spanning from "A New World" to "Life / Death". The second chapter, the Lord of Lightning vs Balrog goes from "Some Context" to "The Acrid Corpse". The last chapter, Han-Tyumi and the Murder of the Universe goes from "Welcome to an Altered Future" to "Murder of the Universe". These chapters all loop directly into one another to tell continuous stories, so expect a huge amount of people giving you shit for breaking it up as it makes it more disjointed. As for their guitar tone, yeah, they are NOT a metal band, so heavy distortion is proportionally very rare for them. Their genuine metal albums are Infest the Rat's Nest and PetroDragonic Apocalypse. Omniam Gatherum contains two metal tracks, Gumboot Soup contains one stoner-rock, sort of sleep style track, and the rest of their 21 albums are not metal. Either jazz, poppy stuff, proggy stuff, or psychedelic rock stuff. This is somewhere between their psych and prog influence. I recommend that you at least give the whole album a full listen through in your free time besides on the channel. Use something like spotify, or if you find a download for the albums or buy it off bandcamp to download or something, listen to it through something like Foobar 2000, as it seamlessly transitions tracks together without any skips or dead space between.

How are the MOTU stories really connected? I mean, I can see the connection between the Lord of Lightning and han-tyumi timelines, but where does the Altered beast really come into play? I never really saw the true connection other than it being a side plot from the greater narrative
@TheEveryDayC

@@Catman_321 they aren't much, they are connected to themselves but not much to each other.

@@Catman_321 one thing i will say is that Petrodragonic Apocalypse's bonus track, "Dawn of Eternal Night" matches up pretty neatly with "A New World" from MOTU, maybe with some loose ends.

Gizz are australians actually! I believe most of them also knew each other from high school and uni.

Life and Death is the end of the Altered Beast suite, so I wouldn't do it and Some Context (that opens the next suite) together personally. I'd do Alter Me III, Altered Beast IV and Life and Death together.

Massive Gizz fan here and always love to see people enjoying their music! Great content! And yes you called it, they are Australian lol. For breaking up these songs for videos I have a suggestion; I would do 3-6 in one video, 7-9 in another, then 10-13 in the 4th video for this album (Lord of Lightning/The Balrog are my two favorites from this album), then I would do 14-17, and lastly finish the album with one more video from there. The reason for chunking more together is that there is a decent amount of spoken word tracks like you heard in the opening track, and breaking it up too much can mess with the flow. Any way you decide to chop it up though I'll be watching!

Glad you’re reacting to this album! But yeah like others have said, there’s a specific way to divide the groupings of songs because there are multiple “chapters” if you will, where the songs flow into each other

This is in my opinion, the most "King Gizzard" sounding album - There's not another band out there that could put together this beast. I do reccomend you find a way to listen to it in thirds - There's three major sections to the album, starting with the "Altered Beast" suite. Would be a shame to break up all the parts that are essentially one sick track!

I don't know another group whose music is perfect for every mood. I also don't know the second group from whose discography I am unable to indicate my favorite album. Too much music so different and so good. How can you choose between Polygondwanaland and Infest the Rats' Nest, between Nonagon Infinity and Changes? How do Iron Lung, Self Immolate, Astroturf and Dripping Tap compare? How do you compare the studio version of Work This Time and the live version with the great solo of Joey Walker? Live performances with amazing improvisations are a different story.

I would assume you should probably be able to split this album into its three chapters without too many copyright issues, King Gizz is self-published and has built up a culture around bootlegging their work. They regularly release demos and concert recordings on their website for people to use, as well as a whole studio album back in 2017 (Polygondwanaland).

regarding the order - you should play life/death with the altered beast before it as they lead into in each other, then play from some context to the acrid corpse in full as that is its own section.
@epicclam

and it would be a much better experience if you listened from a new world to life/death as that is its own section too, as is all the songs from welcome to an altered future to murder of the universe

Yo hope you see this.. been getting through your reactions for King Gizz... and just wanted to give you some little info... in a recent interview some of the members did say there was talks about a album with short songs that you can play at a starbucks. Also two of the guitarists are going to have a interview at a university in Australia this month. Lastly in the interview they said the partner album to this is about 90% done and should be coming out soon!! it is gunna be a complete opposite to PTA ... keep the reactions coming!
