Haha that is the line that made me pay attention to the album proper. Prior to that crumbling castle was what i knew it for. But i heard that line and replayed the whole song - now the whole sequence from inner cell to searching is my obsession. It's so gooood! Eh fuk it the whole album is just gold

That vocal “delay” you’re hearing at the end of Searching and on The Fourth Color is actually not a delay at all, it’s a technique called hocketing and involves splitting up phrases/syllables of words between multiple singers

I understand the fact that some people don't like the ending of Fourth Colour, but I think that calm and the sudden explosion it's awesome for closing the album. I hope you really like Ice Death, if you like long jammy sessions you'll love it, the progressions and the lyrics are so sweet!

Fun fact: Butterfly 3000 is technically Polygondwanaland but in major notes. A really happy and upbeat album. However it is more like pop-synth-prog album, I personally love the album and it was the one that got me into KG.

I would go with Omnium Gatherum. I don't like all of the songs on there (and I don't think you will either) but it is a real fun one with the amount of variety. Also, the transitions from song to song are great on this album, so I would start on the last few seconds of the previous song. Or just go 2 or 3 songs at a time since Omnium has a ton of songs anyway. That is if you want to check out another album any time soon :)

Also, Crumbling Castle was originally intended to be at the end of Murder of The Universe. And both Polygondwanaland and MOTU are in the same conceptual universe, as well as a few other of their albums

Searching... is by FAR their most underrated track. It's my favorite song on Poly for sure. EDIT: My vote for next album is Flying Microtonal Banana. You mentioned liking middle eastern sounds in rock, and that's the whole basis of the album. KG and LW as well.

To me, FMB is like they're practicing the microtonal sound, while KG and LW have levelled it up and brought it to several feels and genres. That Anatolian House feel of Intrasport just makes me freak out from the waist down.

When you do Ice Death you MUST do Ice V, Iron Lung and Magma from the KEXP sessions. The music video for Iron Lung is really cool and trippy af because it had help with AI but I'd suggest just watch it another time. Then you can see what these guys can do live now compared to before.

Ice, Death, etc. Is one of my favorite albums by these guys. I will agree with others in the sense that it can get repetitive but the build up/progression of most songs in the end makes it worth it in my opinion.

Ice, death, planets, lungs mushrooms and lava has the song Iron Lung which was my first ever King Gizz song. I found it a few months ago in a random Spotify list I was "who the hell are these guys? I need more!" and here I am, in my own journey of discovery with half of their discography yet to listen but enjoying reactions to what I have already experienced. Keep them coming! ❤

The unofficial lore is that crumbling castle takes places after the fourth color, where the character from the second suite finds the “fourth color” and becomes a god and is able to exact his revenge on the people who hurt him at the castle. That’s not set in stone, king gizz has a very loosely connected “gizz verse” and it’s all speculation, but check out the lyrics on genius if you’re interested, each suite has a cool story to it

Worth noting in the physical album releases we hear Han-Tyumi say "Hello" at the very end of the album, suggesting he is who this character becomes and later murders the universe with his "Rising up, Thick and Green" vomit referenced in Crumbling Castle. Tho personally I think the gizzverse "loops" like Nonagon Infinity and Han-Tyumi created himself in a way.

If you choose Ice Death... It's good to know each song is in a different musical mode... The title of the album is a hint to the mode. IDPLAML each of the seven songs match up. 1st letter I for Ice/Ionian so the 1st song Mycelium is in Ionian mode Additionally. You have to do the videos for this album. Ice V and Iron Lung

Ice Death should be next. I’d recommend Omnium when you’ve gotten more of their variety under your belt. All I can say is do Infest either before or after fishing for fishies. The contrast of the two genres will be great.

OK just heard options A or B. I'd have to say Omnium. It's only 1 of 3 albums that isn't a concept album. But it's got quite a range of songs. It's got Ambrose Rapping, It's got Cookie doing Garden Goblin, it's also got Gaia, which seemed to me to be their anthem of 2022. Gaia had got a great solo of which they said hasn't been something they've done a lot until recently. You'll hear Gaia then it goes into the next track and that will show you their range. Same with Presumptuous into Predator X actually. Then also the 3 tracks after PX that close the album are super chill.

I think you should really do the acoustic Paper Mâché Dream Balloon or one of the microtonal albums (Flying Microtonal Banana, K.G. or L.W.). I love both of your two choices, but Omnium Gatherium gets my vote.

these format are great! better than single 3-5 min tracks than you had done earlier when you dive into an album. one question tho, did you choose to listen through youtube? or its an obligation for a reaction video? because i think the video will be so much better if you dont have to watch ads on the song transition. one of the best jizz of the gizz is their transition! they flow so seamlessly into one another. especially in their concept album like this. Because of the ads its seems like you didn't notice the jizz of the transition on the first reaction. other than that your videos are great tho, love the insight and rambling in the middle of the songs. it keeps me viewers engaged and not just bobbing heads into the tunes. can't wait for the next, i myself will vote for Ice Death because it has one of their their best music videos and grooves imo.

Mate I can't wait for you to do gumboot soup. It was the first King Gizz album that I listened to in full, I checked it out while driving home where I had plans to trip all night with 2 of my best mates, later that night during the peak we listened to gumboot soup and awww shit then we were all hooked. It was released on the last day of 2017, the same year they released 5 albums, and it is made up of songs that they say didn't belong on any of their previous albums. It's a nice variety of tunes and I think you'll dig a few songs. All hail the great chain!

What they usually do nowadays live is play Crumbling Castle and then immediately transition into The Fourth Colour (skipping the doom/sludge outro of Crumbling Castle). It's amazing and the crowd goes wild every time.

It's actually funny what you brought up about Polygondwanaland feeling like it should be the first track. When I listen to this album I like to start there, and listen to Crumbling Castle last. EDIT: I hope you like Ice Death! Also added bonus of no weird song grouping, you can just go track by track. (Though there are 2 GREAT music videos from that album.)

Enjoyed all your reactions to this and petrodragonic! Polygondwanaland is really subtle and layered, so much going on. I have to be in a certain mood to listen to it but there is always something new in this album that I didn't pick up on before. If you're going on to ice death next then you have to start with the iron lung official video. The kexp version is great but there is a section in the jam on the studio version that just is insane and puts it above live versions

I agree with the crumbling castle placement, king gizz has a habit of throwing their biggest and beefiest song at the beginning of their albums and I think sometimes it messes with the start of the record.

I had the same feeling about crumbling castle and got used to start the album from the second track. Recently i saw a live version and it kicked so hard. I love to start the album now from track no.1. So don‘t force it and keep on skipping it. After listening to rest of the album, you’ll love to have another track ;) Also both choices are great but id go with omnium gatherum

Loved your reactions to this album that in fact actually isnt one of my personal favorites 😳 I found new enjoyment of Loyalty and Searching ✨ So for next album… I’m a big fan of Omnium Gatherum, I think almost every song is a banger and they are all so different 💥 I pray you take a look at Dripping tap from Bonnaroo ’22, it was seeing that performance that I connected to KGLW 🐊❤️‍🔥 Maybe do Dripping tap album version and then the live version 😍 But maybe people are right for saying that you should do more albums before Omnium gatherum. If you’re in the mood for jammy songs then do Ice death etc! I think the KEXP versions of Iron lung and Magma is the way to go and official music video for Ice V. Yeah Chunky Shrapnel is a live album, and Butterfly 3001 is a bunch of cover versions of all the tracks from Butterfly 3000, which is their techno-pop album. Most fans pretend Butterfly 3001 doesn't exist...

I’m personally not a huge fan of Omnium, side one is great but side two is pretty forgettable and boring. The one song you HAVE to react to is The Dripping Tap, it’s Gizz at their jammiest and perhaps their best. Also Gaia live on Highway Holidays is stellar too. Ice Death should be the next album though, and remember to use the KEXP live sessions for Ice V, Iron Lung & Magma. That live show is actually insane with how good the performances are.

Of the two, Omnium is going to give you a wider range of King Gizzard sounds, but be ready for more of “that tempo”. It has some really great songs, but is a bit too long in my opinion.

You didn't mention in your list, Fishing For FIshies. FFF features Amby's harmonica quite a lot and a few of the songs have a hard bluesy stomp - especially This Thing. I think you'll end up enjoying them a lot. but between your two choices, I'm going to go with choice two - Omnium Gatherium. After the opening track, The Dripping Tap, all the rest of them are snappy and grab you. Enjoy!
