The best tenor. He performed this at the opening ceremony of the 2006 Winter Olympics. It was his last public appearance. He passed away in 2007, at the age of 71, of pancreatic cancer. A great voice was silenced way too soon.

Hi Mad.I am italian and a great, great fan of Luciano. If you liked that wonderful performance, you could see other two really really good performances. The first you must search is ''Vesti la giubba''from Puccini's opera''Pagliacci'',the on stage one, that for me was incredible. The other one is ''Caruso'',a sing of a great italian compositor and musician,Lucio Dalla.Said that, for me Pavarotti was and still is litterally a GOAT,one the greatest of all time.Bye Mad,see you at the next reaction.Bye!!

If this performance impressed you, watch some performances when he was young! He never seemed to run out of breath in his golden days, absolutely ridiculous. You can find one here on youtube that, admittedly, is taken out of a movie with him in the lead. The stage performance in that movie is not the same as the recording. Nevertheless, the recording played in the movie is genuine, no tricks whatsoever. The movie is called "yes, giorgio" Every vocal coach will tell you to open your mouth by relaxing the jaw and just let it drop. Pavarotti did that on a different level. If you focus on his face you will notice how relaxed his facial muscles are. No doubt, the greatest tenor who ever lived.

Yes no words. My favorite tenor and the most beautiful aria ever. I was lucky enough to see him in person a few times. Just amazing. I think you should check out Aretha Franklin singing Nessun Dorma at the 1998 Grammys. Pavarotti got sick and she filled in at the last minute. She’s the Queen for a reason.

In the movie Yes, Gorgio Pavarotti sang this song and he held that last note for 18 seconds. Probably the longest held note in history.

"At dawn I'll win!" [the bet, and princess Turandot will marry me] Epicness, love and power. All in one sentence. By the Way, Pavarotti is maybe the best lyric ("sentimental") tenor ever. Just another tenor, Franco Corelli, sang this aria in such a perfect way. He was a spinto ("powerful") tenor, with lungs of steel. But he lacked the media, and many poeple forgot about him. Just listen to his rendition, and you will reach eargasm. The best tenor doesn't exist. But a perfect execution... well, we are really close!

I think Pavarotti is one of the best tenors I've ever heard, perhaps the best for me, but he was so good that he also duetted with contemporary singers outside of opera singing. I believe that, to glimpse the "normality" of Pavarotti you could discover the Pavarotti James Brown Duet, you would be impressed. You would discover a superlative James Brown with Pavarotti!!! Duet of it's a man's man's man's world, 2002

Iron maiden phantom of the opera lyrics: Oh, oh, yeah I've been lookin' so long for you now You won't get away from my grasp You've been living so long in hiding, in hiding Behind that false mask And you know that I know that You ain't got long now to last Your looks and your feelings Are just the remains of your past You're standing in the wings There you wait, for the curtain to fall But knowing the terror and holding You have on us all Yeah, I know that you're gonna Scratch me and maim me and maul And you know I'm helpless from Your mesmerizing catcall Ooh Keep your distance, walk away Don't take his bait Don't you stray, don't fade away Watch your step, he's out to get you Come what may Don't you stray, from the narrow way I'm running and hiding In my dreams, you're always there You're the phantom of the opera You're the devil, you're just out to scare You damaged my mind and my soul It just floats through the air You haunt me, you taunt me You torture me back at your lair
