Crusaders of Might and Magic was the RPG game that I had the most fun in my childhood, I remember it was very difficult to imagine for a young 10 year old boy, I just remembered because my collections of games and consoles were stolen, just reviewing this cover brings me back to that eyes-purple-cryingface-red-heart-shape 10 year old boy. Thank you for his video it made me feel too, it reminded me of my childhood.

This took me all the way back to the late 90’s… I remember working in a Blockbuster when the PS1 and Sega Saturn were released and we rented them out for 7 day stretches with the array of launch titles… basically everyone wanted Ridge Racer and Battle Arena Toshinden! Another launch title I fondly remember (although looking back seems actually quite a poor game) was Kileak The Blood, a Doom-like FPS where you are in a Mechsuit. Like I say, probably not that strong a game any more but a curiosity you should definitely check out and have in your collection, especially as it was a Launch Title.

Spider man on ps1 was amazing. I recommend trying out the second one in that series. It's overlooked but still a fun title. And if you love racing games I highly recommend Sled storm. It's fairly common and not expensive at all so you probably have heard of it but it's one of the few racing games that has 4 player split screen. And a killer soundtrack.

Great collection! For NFS Porsche I agree that it's better on PC but I think NFS 3: Hot Pursuit is actually very good on PS1. I think that would be a nice addition for you. The PS1 version has some exclusive hidden tracks that you unlock by entering codes. And the game also has some awesome original music. Look up the songs "Snorkeling Cactus Weasels", "Rear Flutterblast #19" and "Snow Bags" by Matt Ragan. And the songs are actually interactive. They move to the next part of the song when you reach a particular section of the race track. Then my personal hidden gem in terms of PS1 racing games is a game called "Total Drivin", known as "Grand Tour Racing 98" in your region, although that game is probably not for everyone. The controls are a bit weird (d-pad left for a slight left turn, d-pad left + L1 for a medium left turn, L1 alone for a sharp left turn). It's kind of cool though how the tracks get progressively harder from Stage 1 to Stage 6 of each location. And the EU version has some amazing techno music, although that might not be your taste. Finally a non-racing game that I enjoyed and that I didn't spot in your video would be "Hogs of War", which is kind of like a 3D version of Worms but with pigs instead of worms. The different factions are based on major countries with a lot of jokes in the names and dialogue. At least that's how it was in my local language. Not sure if they did that equally well in the English dub. The gameplay in the campaign missions was good as well though from what I remember.

Yes! Grand Tour Racing 98 is my favorite racing game on PS1. Its tough but not impossible gameplay and the music was dope

Such great times with that console & such an amazing library of games, great times.

Nice collection! The one game I would definitely recommend you add to your PS1 collection is one of my own faves, a lucky discovery back in the day - N2O: Nitrous Oxide. It's a tube shooter (think in the vein of Tempest), where you're moving around the inside of various shaped tunnels destroying a variety of insects. The soundtrack is all Crystal Method, too - so with the music and visuals, it's just a wild experience and I can't recommend it enough. Especially as it tends to be quite inexpensive! Tall Infinity is a definite oddity that doesn't get the love it deserves. A streamer I watch picked up the game, and it's a really interesting and involved action puzzle game. Dirt cheap, too, so a heavy RECOMMEND to anyone who loves those kind of games. There's a Japan-only sequel to it too, Tall: Twins Tower, which is even better in every way. Sadly, that one is EXPENSIVE - $300 and up for a copy.

I remember playing the PSN version of FFVII on PS3 when it was first available, and having a friend of a friend come over and ask me if I was playing the black label physical version. Some people seem to think the PS1 green and black label versions have major differences in the games themselves.
@kulmor69 Жыл бұрын
Some did, some had fixes that couldn't be addressed in first edition and greatest hits was only reserved for the best games also because they offered them cheaper after a certain amount of sales. They can be compared to game of the year editions now and since ps1 games played off the disc, all of the data had to be on them. I remember when my aunt and uncle bought me and my little brother a ps1 for Xmas and then our washer broke so they had to take it back because my mom couldn't afford a new washer. 💔 gotten a used one cheap shortly after ps2 came out and had it couple years before getting a brand new ps2 and later breaking it. Now the systems are cheap but games are expensive, but some people care more about making money then playing games(myself included).

Also, great to see you doing better and back to making kickass content!

I love the long boxes. As a kid/teen that spanned the Ps1 era, the long boxes always seemed nostalgic to me EVEN AT THE TIME haha. Like, I would be browsing new ps1 releases and see the long box used games at the bottom of a rack and think "wow, so olllld". Some of those early LB's also scream VERY early 3d era when compared to the later games.
@GreyMatterShades Жыл бұрын
I totally know what you mean. A couple years into the PS1's life and those long boxes seemed like relics of the past. There was a ton of advancement during the PS1's lifespan in terms of graphics and average game quality, since developers started to come to terms with the new tech and figure out how to actually make 3D games. So yeah, early PS1 games definitely feel much more dated than later PS1 games.

My PS1 collection is small, but I've mainly been looking for games I played or had as a kid. I was wondering when you might stream again, in particular I'd love to see you play Shivers, because of your Sierra history, which if you don't know has a randomizer available usable with the ScummVM version. I would recommend the NTSC-J version of Einhänder since that version gives you unlimited continues, sure, some things in the menu are in japanese, but the game is totally playable and a LOT cheaper! Besides, that cover art is amazingly awesome XD

Hi MetalJesus! If you ever visit Japan again, try looking for Ace Combat 3 Electrosphere, which is the truly complete version of the game coming in 2 discs, unlike the NTSC-US port which was hideously butchered because of corporate decisions. That is if you can find it for a decent price, given that the game is an absolute cult classic and it would be north of $100 if not more. But it's well worth every cent for all Ace Combat fans, myself included. Have a good one!

As somebody who has been buying manuals and other inserts for loose games I've purchased to make them complete, money isn't necessarily saved going after them to make them complete. Although, it depends on the game. I've gotten manuals for as cheap as around $5. Other times, I've paid enough that I could have just gone for a CIB copy of the game on eBay. I've also seen loose games going for nearly as much as CIB. Again, it really depends on the title.

I agree, it is often more expensive to puzzle together a complete collection. But it's a rewarding feeling to bring everything back together. When you find a loose copy for very cheap, it can be a fun little project.

If we are honest and take off nostalgia goggles 90% of the PS1 library is pretty rough to play today. However, the 10% that do play well (good control and framerate) are timeless gold. If anyone is curious here is a selection of games in my collection of PS1 games that I think still hold up very well today. I am sure there are many I have missed but these for sure hold up: Board Game Top Shop Bravo Air Race Bushido Blade Evil Zone Felony 11-79 Moto Racer NFS High Stakes No One Can Stop Mr. Domino Omaga Boost One Piece Mansion Ray Tracers Road Rash Runabout 2 Sled Storm Soul Blade Warpath: Jurassic Park

Man, those Lunar collections look pristine! I got them sitting around too. They're not exactly beat up but there is some fraying on the corners of the boxes. I still have that pendant though and love it tons. Small question that may be a tad random. Mind if I ask what bitrate you post your videos at? They always look so clean and sharp! Especially the game footage!

Test drive 6 was just a GEM of a racing game, the opening songclip of ``Cars by Fear Factory`` always made you so hyped up for the whole campaign and the car pool was so well chosen. That was the game that made me fall in love with the Shelby Cobra car. Definetily the best console ever, there`s just games for ALL kinds of taste in there and every genre has mustiple epic games, oh man!

💖💖💖YOU DO NOT HAVE TO FEAR DEATH IF YOU BELIEVE IN JESUS CHRIST, AND TRUST IN HIM WITH ALL YOUR HEART, BECAUSE HE ATONED FOR YOU FOR ALL YOUR INSULTS, THAT YOU WOULD OBTAIN PEACE WITH ALMIGHTY GOD, AND GO TO HEAVEN BY HIS GRACE!!! (The Holy Bible according to the Gospel of John, chapter 5 and verse 24, Jesus Christ, the Son of the Living God says, whose existence can be proven by countless people from their own lives, says: Verily, verily, I say unto you, he that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath eternal life. He is not condemned but has passed from death to life.)💖

Just happy to hear your voice Metal Jesus, PlayStation 1 really opened my eyes to the possibilities of gaming when I was younger due to how many games they were releasing back then. I was a nintendo fan for so long but realized variety was missing once I started playing on ps1. Long time fan of your channel, keep making great content like this and rock on

The original PlayStation was the platform that brought me back to consoles from PC gaming. I had a friend that installed a game on my PC and overwrote my drivers and broke my capture card. As a freelance graphic designer, my primary design platform was offline until I could fix everything. At that point I said, no more PC gaming and I got a PlayStation to keep those worlds straight. There was no turning back for me. Sure, I eventually got a N64 and Sega Saturn, but my primary platform for that era was the PS1 and I have over 200 titles for it including some real heavy hitters. like Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (Black Label), Klonoa: Door to Phantomile, Suikoden II, Silent Hill, Elemental Gearbolt, Einhander, Silent Bomber, Silhouette Mirage, and Valkyrie Profile. I loved the Namco Museums on the PS1 and they released five volumes (each with a different letter spelling out N-A-M-C-O). Volumes 1 (N) and 3 (M) were the most popular. I actually own two copies of volume 5 (O) which has become exceptionally rare. When I was visiting a friend in Chicago in the late '90s, we stopped into a game store and I found a sealed copy of Volume 5 (O). Since I already had an open copy, I bought that one and kept it in the shrink wrap. I believe I got if for $15. Sealed copies of rare games can be CRAZY expensive! My open copy of Volume 5 (O) is valued at over $200 these days. My sealed copy is valued between 2x and 3x that much. That's just freakin' insane! I have two other PS1 titles that I misplaced after buying them and didn't open them. I found them in a box of work stuff a few years ago and checked out their prices before opening them. I decided to leave them shrink-wrapped and I have found alternate ways to play them. They're R-Type Delta and Castlevania Chronicles. I got both at Best Buy for $19.99 each. The current combined value for that $40 investment is $800. I have never bought a videogame with the thought, "This is an investment." I've bought games because I love playing games. Heck, my purchasing evolved toward the end of the PS2 era when I realized that I could get a second hand title in great condition for a fraction of the original price if I was just patient. I remember buying GTA III used for $29.99 a few months after it came out. 9 months later, the same store was selling its copies for $4.95. If a game is popular, they'll sell a whole bunch. I have plenty of other games I can play in the meantime, so I just wait. Sometimes, I don't even have to buy them used. Sometimes you can get new games at clearance prices at the end of a console's life. I bought my copy of Conker's Bad Fur Day new from Amazon shortly after the Gamecube was released. It was only $20. Similarly, I got my Gamecube copies of Twilight Princess and Pikmin 2 just after the Wii came out. Twilight Princess was $20 from Amazon and Pikmin 2 was $7 at K-Mart. Again - I'm not in this for the money. I knew that Pikmin 2 was a crazy deal (although I didn't know how rare it was). They had a shelf full of them that they were blowing out. I didn't buy a bunch to then scalp them. I told friends that they were available so they could get them too. I bought one copy. It's crazy what some of these titles are going for these days. However, I'm grateful that so many of these are available for digital download for many current platforms or via modern re-releases. I never got an original copy of Chrono Trigger for the SNES, but I have it on the PS1 via Final Fantasy Chronicles, I've got it on my iPad from the App Store, and I can play it on my Wii via the Virtual Console download. It's all about playing the games, but it is crazy how the collector mentality has made it much more difficult to acquire physical media for original releases - especially if you want to preserve them with their boxes an manuals in good condition. Heck, boxes and manuals are a whole other topic and such a source for nostalgia. Yet, publishers have practically abandoned manuals. I still have my original manual for Automated SImulations' Dunjonquest: Temple of Apshai for the TRS-80. The drawings and the descriptions of the rooms and treasures fill me with joy every time I pull it out and page through it. This is an experience that current gamers will never experience when they reminisce as they get older. Similarly, they won't have the experience of reading liner notes from albums and CDs since their musical experiences have been through Spotify, KZbin, and other streaming services. The way we experience our media is continuing to evolve. I'm grateful for the availability, but curious what the evolution in distribution and streaming will mean to physical media and how collectors may continue to drive prices on those original releases. Thanks for another great video, MetalJesusRocks! Peace.
