Fax. SSX falls kinda short in the sports category, imho. Having so much realistic games (FIFA and NBA2K before microtransactions, etc.), even THPS gives you more punch than SSX. I'd still go with NBA Jam because I'm also a 90's kid and I mean... How could the all time arcade collector ever not be the top dog, right?

Definitely! The ME trilogy is among my favorite games ever. I'm currently playing through the Legendary Edition, and so far it certainly lives up to the original. I'm just hoping they finally fixed the infamous 'Blackout glitch', but I'll find out soon enough.

@@pnut3844able this is exactly why I preferred ME1. Sniping was very difficult but got easier as you pumped points into the ability, just as it should be. I didn't enjoy how ME2 just became an action game. Also having a universal cool down for abilities instead of a cool down for each ability meant you couldn't do combos anymore and made abilities a lot less useful and fun. I used to love lifting an enemy and combining it with push to throw them into space.

Yup. I made the mistake of playing ME2 first, and then hating 1 when I played it, and not so much liking 3. I wish I'd played 1 first so I appreciated just how damn good 2 was after. Playing 2 first, I had expectations 1 and 3 would be nearly as good, and both were half as good. Then I played Andromeda, which hit home just how perfect ME2 actually was. Easily a 10/10 game

@@pittibarlin8692 yea you kinda made a mistake there, not that i hate the first mass effect i remember it fondly but mass effect 2 was just a "sequel done right" in every way and when i played it after the first one i was hooked to the series, it jumped from being "a cool universe" to the best "sci fi videogame" with the second one. Only some weird purists like to bash mass effect 2 calling it "casual", i agree they made it more casual...but at the same time so much more fun, better looking, more immersive less clunky more interesting.

Probably the only game I bought when I was a kid that I hadn't even seen anyone play before because it was so hyped, everyone just knew Nintendo was not fucking around! It did not disappoint. Just the right amount of difficulty. Achievable to pass even without a save/password mechanism, but not something you can beat in 10 minutes like SMB1. Hard to even include 2 in there because it was a very different game. Agree with @Chuck Smith, I usually play the all stars one, cause they did an amazing job just updating the graphics while keeping 100% of the gameplay.

My personal list: 1. Minecraft - easy to understand but open to limitless possibilities. It's also pretty much a cultural touchstone now 2. Super Mario Galaxy - incredibly unique & creative 3D platformer with a surprisingly deep story 3. Portal 2 - the portal gun is probably the most interesting mechanic ever conceived for a video game. No other game feels quite like it. 4. Tetris - same reasons you mentioned in the video. It's timeless 5. Stardew Valley - the definitive cozy simulation game. Perfect for anyone who wants a nonviolent video game that is still fun to play 6. The Last of Us - demonstrates the narrative & cinematic potential of video games better than anything else I've played 7. Overcooked - my family's go-to local multiplayer game, and most of them don't play video games. Always a blast to fire up 8. Skyrim - the base game itself is great, but the modding community is what truly makes it special. It's a game that you can bend and tweak to be whatever you want it to be 9. Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask - as much a piece of artwork as it is a game. Its haunting imagery and themes stick with you long after you've turned the console off 10. Hollow Knight - my favorite game of all time. Beautiful, challenging, intriguing, addicting, the crown jewel of metroidvanias

@@lintangmuktiprabowo3993 I never played a zelda game. So I tried out Breath of the wild... after 2hours of it I eventually gave up because I had no idea what to do & kept dying to snow. Couldn't find safe passage to any of the shrines it told me to go to. I did do one of the puzzles, but it was confusing on controls. It's one of the worst experiences I ever had playing a new game. I decided to give Link's Awakening a try as well... surely it can't be that bad as BOtW... spent about 2-3hrs...on it and couldn't for figure out how to get through the first forest without being teleported back to the beginning... even after I got passed that... I got stumped on what came after. The town people were useless. Couldn't buy anything at the shop with rupees. I'm not sure if all zelda games are like this... but they feel way to hard for someone new to the franchise to get into & doesn't leave a good first impression considering everywhere on the internet giving praise to zelda games as a masterpiece. I really wanted to like it, but after trying out two different games.. It felt extremely overhwelming & exhuasting.

I wouldn’t say OOT is a must play, other than nostalgia reasons I don’t see why it’s a must play. Of course if you’re a Zelda fan then it is but otherwise it doesn’t really do anything that puts it in the “must play” category. I would put games such as Portal 2 (for its unique puzzle solving) Last of Us Part 1 (for its cinematic level story telling and characters) and I would throw a Final Fantasy game in there as well because everyone seems to have a favourite, it’s just tricky deciding which one I would recommend.

I've been much more picky when it comes to video games over the last ten years or so. Indie games seem to be better in a lot of ways, and I think it's because independent studios are more willing to take risks and try something new. I don't think I could ever make a list of games that everyone should play, partly because I'd first have to know what types of games a person likes. Just because I love certain games doesn't mean that most people would like them. I'd probably just recommend a few games that are really good and free.

I'd put Dragon Age: Origins over Mass Effect 2 for how much freedom there is to roleplay. Mass Effect only let you roleplay as whatever your version of Shepherd was. Origins on the other hand let you craft a unique character complete with an origin story that you get to play through that adds context and meaning to who you choose to be and what your place in the world is, and throughout the game that is reinforced through NPC and Companion dialogue.

Pretty late comment, 'cuz I've just watched this video for the first time. But as soon as I saw 'RPG' I thought exactly the same as you to put Dragon Age: Origins over Mass Effect 2 in it. Like you said, there's so much freedom to roleplay your character and there's so many decisions to make, it's just awesome. To me, DA:O is an RPG masterpiece. I REALLY LOVE the whole ME trilogy, but I still prefer DA:O a bit more. It's my favorite RPG ever made.

I loved it and I agreed with you on pretty much everything. I've been gaming for 35+ years starting with the Atari and Commodore 64, Amiga 500 and all the consoles. For racing Burnout 3 was the best in the series. I must've spent 100+ hours in that one. Mario 3 is the pinnacle of 2D platformer style, design and depth. Deus Ex the first one from the 90's still to me is one of the best games of my life. I loved Baldur's Gate 1 and 2 on the PC. Besides the Zelda ones I played on NES and SNES. One of the best story driven games: Grim Fandango I agree with SSX Tricky as well. I don't play sports games much, except for Fifa or NBA Jam, but SSX Tricky was so easy to get into. And the more time you invested in it you would learn all these little tricks and locations to start improving your scores. And every time you landed a huge trick just when you think you would fail the landing was an awesome feeling every single time

The 2nd entry in a lot of series is often the sweet spot between realizing ideas with a limited budget in the first entry and feeling forced to add more in a third entry. In addition to Mass Effect 2, Civilization 2, SSX Tricky, Uncharted 2, Half Life 2 and Ms. Pac Man perfectly building on the foundation of the original games you could make an argument that Mario 3 or Link to the Past are the first opportunity for true evolution of core gameplay realized in a way that makes them perfection in their respective 2d series. The same is often true with movies, just look at Empire Strikes Back, The Road Warrior, Godfather 2, The Dark Knight or (in my opinion) Back to the Future 2. The same can’t always be said about music, maybe because bands have to struggle before gaining recognition but Nirvana Nevermind is hard to ignore.
