@@pnut3844able this is exactly why I preferred ME1. Sniping was very difficult but got easier as you pumped points into the ability, just as it should be. I didn't enjoy how ME2 just became an action game. Also having a universal cool down for abilities instead of a cool down for each ability meant you couldn't do combos anymore and made abilities a lot less useful and fun. I used to love lifting an enemy and combining it with push to throw them into space.

Super Mario Galaxy - incredibly unique & creative 3D platformer with a surprisingly deep story 3. Portal 2 - the portal gun is probably the most interesting mechanic ever conceived for a video game. No other game feels quite like it. 4. Tetris - same reasons you mentioned in the video. It's timeless 5. Stardew Valley - the definitive cozy simulation game. Perfect for anyone who wants a nonviolent video game that is still fun to play 6. The Last of Us - demonstrates the narrative & cinematic potential of video games better than anything else I've played 7. Overcooked - my family's go-to local multiplayer game, and most of them don't play video games. Always a blast to fire up 8. Skyrim - the base game itself is great, but the modding community is what truly makes it special. It's a game that you can bend and tweak to be whatever you want it to be 9. Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask - as much a piece of artwork as it is a game. Its haunting imagery and themes stick with you long after you've turned the console off 10. Hollow Knight - my favorite game of all time. Beautiful, challenging, intriguing, addicting, the crown jewel of metroidvanias

I wouldn’t say OOT is a must play, other than nostalgia reasons I don’t see why it’s a must play. Of course if you’re a Zelda fan then it is but otherwise it doesn’t really do anything that puts it in the “must play” category. I would put games such as Portal 2 (for its unique puzzle solving) Last of Us Part 1 (for its cinematic level story telling and characters) and I would throw a Final Fantasy game in there as well because everyone seems to have a favourite, it’s just tricky deciding which one I would recommend.

I've been much more picky when it comes to video games over the last ten years or so. Indie games seem to be better in a lot of ways, and I think it's because independent studios are more willing to take risks and try something new. I don't think I could ever make a list of games that everyone should play, partly because I'd first have to know what types of games a person likes. Just because I love certain games doesn't mean that most people would like them. I'd probably just recommend a few games that are really good and free.

When you start a list with Mass Effect 2, you’ve earned my respect.

Man, I haven’t seen one of your vids in years since I used to watch with my dad as a kid! So glad this vid popped up on my feed just looking around youtube. Seems I have a great taste in games because I nearly guessed a few of these. Great vid, love ya MetalJesus!

First person shooter everyone should play??? Timesplitters 3. Funny, innovated, can play against bots, level challenges, 100+ characters to unlock, interesting storyline, just perfection
@Jonnygunboy4 жыл бұрын
Timesplitters 2 is also amazing (as long as you un-invert the controls in the options)

Great choices, MJ! I would actually love to see this series revisited from time to time! Like, “Ten More Must-Play Games” or whatever. Anyway, great video and I’ll have to check a few of these out that I never got around to!

Point and click games never get any love these days. Monkey Island gets my attention any time!... Halo gets a mention as well for revolutionising and breeding new life into the FPS genre

As a PC gamer Halo just seemed super generic and derivative. Gamepad controls also suck for fps, I feel sorry for console peeps
@VivaMidnight3 жыл бұрын
@@blahuhm6782 I agree, never particular interested me, we had far better FPS years before it. I'd be interested to play it now to see if I missed something though..

ME2 was a huge part of my teen years! Such an amazing game. Stellar cast, great gameplay, good graphics, story is spectacular!

I loved it and I agreed with you on pretty much everything. I've been gaming for 35+ years starting with the Atari and Commodore 64, Amiga 500 and all the consoles. For racing Burnout 3 was the best in the series. I must've spent 100+ hours in that one. Mario 3 is the pinnacle of 2D platformer style, design and depth. Deus Ex the first one from the 90's still to me is one of the best games of my life. I loved Baldur's Gate 1 and 2 on the PC. Besides the Zelda ones I played on NES and SNES. One of the best story driven games: Grim Fandango I agree with SSX Tricky as well. I don't play sports games much, except for Fifa or NBA Jam, but SSX Tricky was so easy to get into. And the more time you invested in it you would learn all these little tricks and locations to start improving your scores. And every time you landed a huge trick just when you think you would fail the landing was an awesome feeling every single time

I think breath of fire was very challenging for the first time since I was new to other gba games (except Pokemon ones). Loved the robot sacrifice and cute theme as well as the rpg genre!

Beat 'em up: X-Men Arcade or Turtles in Time Flight Game: Ace Combat 4

Great selection you got here! I would only change: Sports: Olympic Games or maybe California Games for Master System II Fighting: The King of Fighters 96 (played in arcades though, i had Street Fighter II Special Edition for SNES) Strategy Game: Total War Rome (now remastered) or Tactics Ogre Let us Cling Together (played back in PS1) Open World: there's soo many types, survival ones, story driven, it depends mostly on what you like to play. My choice is Starbound and Red Dead Rendemption II. They're mostly complete in their essence but diferent as Open World games. There's soo many games I could choose instead but these are my favorites.

Chrono Trigger, I guess this suggestion needs no further explanation.

sly mind but will we get a remake?? 😔
@alan.garcia.gonzalez4 жыл бұрын
olley drum we would love to and everybody knows that, but the problem is that Chrono Trigger already got a remake for the Nintendo DS a few years ago and this lowered the possibilities of another remake in short terms. I know the nostalgia will bring us back this gold piece at some point in the future, but today that date is uncertain.

The 2nd entry in a lot of series is often the sweet spot between realizing ideas with a limited budget in the first entry and feeling forced to add more in a third entry. In addition to Mass Effect 2, Civilization 2, SSX Tricky, Uncharted 2, Half Life 2 and Ms. Pac Man perfectly building on the foundation of the original games you could make an argument that Mario 3 or Link to the Past are the first opportunity for true evolution of core gameplay realized in a way that makes them perfection in their respective 2d series. The same is often true with movies, just look at Empire Strikes Back, The Road Warrior, Godfather 2, The Dark Knight or (in my opinion) Back to the Future 2. The same can’t always be said about music, maybe because bands have to struggle before gaining recognition but Nirvana Nevermind is hard to ignore.

Sometimes it's true. Other times the technology has to catch up to the vision. Eg GTA5, Forza.
@chutton9884 жыл бұрын
I think about this a lot, too. Mega Man 2, Sonic 2 are other great sequels. But sometimes the team missteps, like with Zelda 2 or Castlevania 2. .
