It never ceases to amaze me when I think about how James plays this AND sings at the same time. One of the most underrated musicians in music history. He's famous obviously, but I don't think people realize the complexity of what he does.

I honestly don't get the people that criticize Matt for being influenced by James. James himself said he was just trying to be Lemmy and nobody seemed to care. I'm a guitar player myself and I'll tell you, every comment here saying Matt is ripping off James is made by people who don't play the guitar (or any instrument for that matter). They just don't understand. Every guitar player in the world has another guitar player that influenced him. It's as simple as that. If your influences don't come through, there's something wrong with you, it's human nature. I like to watch these videos because they're fun and challenging for the guitar player. If I want to see James I go watch Metallica videos. There's room for everyone. p.s. Matt, I play the guitar but I've learned by ear so I don't know any notes or keys, but in the main riff you're playing one key one step higher.

I agree with you man, but if we are talking about influences it seems that Matt only has Hetfield... For example, it´s like incest, he is relating with the same thing. A good musician and guitar player is formed by a huge variety of influences and if you listen to his own original songs it sounds like 90% Metallica. Music is about to found your OWN voice, not to be the clone of someone.

I have a band with some other guys and we cover a lot of metallica and we want to sound like them. However, someday we will need to develop our own sound , maybe influenced by metallica or any other band, but nor exactly the same. Idk if matt wants to have a band and write their own music someday, and if he wants to, he should try to get his own sound, ideas, and personality. If he just wants to play covers and look exactly like james then he is going in the right direction. But I believe the most important thing in music is being youself and being original (maybe influenced by someone, but not copying). Thats just my opinion but there is no reason for insulting matt, he will someday decide what he wants to be in the music world. (Srry for my English btw)

Another great cover dude. I still love of the opening song to the 89 Seattle gig. I went to my local music shop to pick up some picks for a mate, ended up walking out with a 84 Explorer for myself! In my defence I'm not about to pick up an ESP one anytime soon! 😂 Keep up the good work dude.

William Sim the 84 Explorer is a nice guitar. I'd love to get one, I know they still make them under the Epiphone brand and I might get one. I have the ESP KH-2 "Caution Hot" Kirk Hammett signature guitar (probably one of my all time favorites along with the Johnny Ramone Mosrite and James Hetfield's EET FUK Explorer) but the Floyd Rose bridge is a real pain to deal with sometimes when I want to change tunings.
