especially Creeping Death that shot at 3:28 , seeing the entire crowd just scream "DIE! DIE! DIE!" from above is so epic looking. Metallica know how to power the crowd and it's so awesome when a band does that, the crowd and the band give each other energy so the whole experience is better overall

I remember the “die” chant when I saw them back in ’88 at the Monsters of Rock festival in San Francisco. It was amazing. Saw them again that same year with Queensrÿche opening. I was only 17 or 18. One of the best years of my life. I still have the ticket stubs 🤘

@@Leo-gm2tv lol. Kirk's solo was not studio perfect, by no means. Kirk was rushed. He messed up big time. Watch it again. I will watch his solo again as well and leave a time stamp. 2:35 I watched again. He did little better than I remembered. He did pretty good, especially for them playing it faster than normal. But he was being rushed.

Thank you for turning up Rob’s mic. In the 80s and 90s it may have been obnoxiously loud for Jason’s backing vocals but Rob’s vocals have always been a bit buried in most of the recent performances. This one’s a perfect balance.

They did have sound issues at the festival which made it hard to understand his voice in certain parts if you were further away from the stage but that wasn't their fault. I mean, it's okay of course if you don't like the way he's singing right now but I absolutely love it. Have a good day mate.

My first Metallica concert was 1989... AJFA tour... i first got hooked onto them in 84, but completely lost interest somewhere between AJFA and the Black Album. It was more fun being a part of that exclusive club when literally no one really knew or cared who they were. I was part of the loner club in. HS because everyone mocked me for listening to what they referred to as “devil worshiping music” back then. Wonder how many of those guys back then now regret thinking that way. 🤔

1984, a junior in high school, my friends and I would greet each other with a fist pump and scream "DIE".. It scared the others, especially since we were mostly the Varsity football team and we listened to this on tape in the weight room. The uninitiated had NO idea what we were talking about but the rockers understood us perfectly 😀

Been there. My third metallica concert after 2008 Berlin and 2014 Hamburg. All three of them insanely good, but unlike back then I am now a father of two daughters (5 and 0 years old), which let me consume all this with much more emotion. I just wish Metallica keeps doing their stuff until I can bring both of them to at least one concert each.

It is nothing short of mindblowing how Metallica were devastating their audiences back in 1984 during the prime of thrash metal. They never sounded tighter, I swear. Metal heroes never get soft, they just reload their guitars, basses, drums etc and go on the musical rampage we celebrate every time.

Haha same here, waited the same amount of time to be in front, I didn’t find the other bands that great, Five Finger Death Punch has some very aggressive fans and I couldn’t even enjoy the show since they were all crushing each other and Sabaton was really boring because they took so long and at that point my legs were already killing me. And as soon as Metallica came on, all the pain went away and the adrenaline hit me

The majority of the sloppy shows coincided with James falling off the wagon, unfortunately. I thought they sounded incredible when I saw them in 2017 on the Hardwired tour. Then a few months later James relapsed a bit and he was all over the place live. Went back to rehab and these current shows have been laser focused. Caught them last month at Boston Calling and they were excellent. Better than some of those late 90’s shows I saw when they were kind of a mess. Great to see!

And apparently whenever James was in a bad state because of fighting (or even worse: procrastinating) his addiction, the other 3 seemed to adapt the bad aura and atmosphere and were not able to carry the band. Nah they've been really good live all the time with much much much energy. Ofcourse one better than the other but thats kinds normal. When he was in his drinking period the shows are even better because its more raw and thats metallica. Now they're extremely tight and still giving it all like they've always done.

work sucked. came home, worked on my pos car, finally got it running. cracked a beer, put on youtube, saw this video, and was finally able to wind down and get out of my head upon hearing the audience chant "DIE" post solo. Thank everything for great music and above all...thank you James, Kirk, Lars, Cliff, Dave, Jason, Robert, and Bob. sweet sweet relief from the mundane, somehow stressful, fuckery that is living the grind everyday.

I came there more than 30 hours before they opened the doors, it rained the night before for 5 hours, I slept on concrete, was extremely tired but was the first person there out of 120.000. I couldn’t do much a week after the concert because my body couldn’t do anything. But I got 3 picks from Metallica and a stick from Behemoth. It was just worth it!!! 🤘🏻🤘🏼🤘🏽🤘🏾🤘🏿
