I love the song, the Dream Theater version is the one I once learned to present to the band...they said "no".... But this version rocks, I love how they stripped it down for 4 people and still sounds full.... dropping to Eb helps. SO well sung too, my only fear is there's a bit of post autotune on the vocals, it's very perfect but even so, the power is great .
@CarstenStepanowicz7 ай бұрын

@@CarstenStepanowicz With the recent revelations regarding the Eagles I was skeptical when I heard the vocals. I suspect you're right through. They are probably running their live rig through something like an Appolo X8P and autotune the crap outta Hetfield's voice. I've heard the UAD stuff is great at autotune live but there's probably even better hardware available for live.

A very strange combination indeed. I never would have thought of Metallica and Elton John in the same sentence. It’s like rock cakes or marshmallows. Hey rocket man, is that a rocket in your pocket? Sorry 🤪 But it worked. While playing the triads, James has a sitar effect on his guitar. Probably a Flanger. And not just a baritone, but hitting the notes at his age, with no difference to when he was thirty.

Indeed Jim! Maybe they will be on tour together. What a package, haha 😃 Elton covered „Nothing Else Matters“ on „The Lockdown Sessions“ in 2021 so he was already familiar with the mighty Metallica. This was a reciprocal performance by Metallica I would think. The award is for Sir Elton John and Bernie Taupin to receive the Library of Congress Gershwin Prize for popular song. If you had seen Metallica's appearance on Howard Stern a few years back, they had Miley Cyrus with them to perform her cover of Nothing Else Matters which she did originally featuring Elton John. Stern had Elton John on Zoom call to add comments about the song and Elton called it one of the greatest songs he had ever heard. Well, that comment just about brought James Hetfield to tears coming from the master songwriter himself.
@CarstenStepanowicz7 ай бұрын
I saw the Stern performance on KZbin and was overwhelmed by James‘s reaction when Elton said that. To me it really shows that James is a great human being. Although they‘re filthy rich rockstars they really care about their music and that makes me happy. Miley sang the song ridiculously great! 🤘❤️
