My son was a huge Metallica fan back in the day. I would yell to him to crank it up! 😅 I've always loved hard rock, heavy metal so right up my alley. My husband not so much! Haha. Only time I could listen to it was when he was working. Great band. Glad you reacted to this one, even though you don't know what it's about. 😅😅😅

This came shortly after the fall of the Berlin Wall 11.9.1989 on 9.28.1991 what you can see here is that yearning for freedom. 3 months later the U.S.S.R. dissolved on 12.26.1991 so Metallica and other bands that played that day sure did something in no small way.

Enter Sandman was written about SIDS, using the metaphor of nightmares, and the myth of the Sandman. Metallica writes a lot of songs about some of our most deep-seated issues; suicide (Fade To Black), aftermath of war (One), addiction (Master of Puppets - 1st metal song in the Library of Congress)... even anger management (St. Anger). A relatively 'fun' song you might enjoy is Fuel ^_^

When Metallica played in Moscow that was the first time western music aka bands could play in Russia. It was a free concert and 11.000 military people attended. Other western bands were there too not just Metallica. Rod Stewart holds the record of biggest audience ever in Copacabana Beach with 3.5 million people on New Years Eve. That too was a free concert.

No, man, they didn't pay a dollar or more (coz they don't have it, lol), it's was a free concert with a multiply bands on this stage in 91, thats why so many people came to that "Tushino Airport". Pantera and AC/DC also performed that day there. Check out Pantera's "Heresy" from that gig - i would like it, i'm sure =) Hello from Far East of Russia. And sry for my English.
