I was an addict who was depressed and lost my wife and kid’s but I made it! And this song reminds me that I never want to be in that place again! Because it’s a horrible lonely place.

This song makes my eyes watering every time because I lost close friends in the Canadian armed forces due to suicide while I still serve. I wish I could heard this from their mouths and helped them the best as I could. Their musics always express the emotions felt by the character into the song while the vocal express like you are the main character into his songs

I've been listening to this song since the 80s. I still love it just as much as I did then. It's my favorite song. It's got me through many very depressing times!

Most of the 1st listeners for ♩Fade To Black will never hold on their true feelings.... they will talk about it while it still "live on" ... thats really indeed to relief / release their "overheated" soul during the powerful united between those deeply dark sentimental lyrics and ultimatum music.... ☺

She is so great love how she flows with emotion of the music. Music is its own language and she expresses it. This song is reflects pain of this world so clearly and the getting caught within your own hopelessness. Ironically listening to this helps me to cycle out downtime. Clear out the emotion

Thank you for trusting us Empress. Watching you fully understand what the instruments were yelling was awesome. This song acknowledges to any that might hear it, they are not the first to have these thoughts and feelings. Over time many will comment here how this song helped them out of a dark place. Your bloopers at the end also helps show we are all more alike than not. I enjoy you within your world and the sounds associated with it. Peace/JT I previously suggested 'For Whom The Bell Tolls', Also from this album but they did an Album with the San Francisco Symphony in 1999 during a special concert and then again in 2019. I suggest one of the versions from the S&M concerts/albums edit: 1999 S&M version is the better version. This one, 'Metallica For Whom The Bell Tolls Live S&M 1999 1080p HD'

Awesome reaction. Yup. Those are powerful lyrics. They express what so many feel which leads down a dark road. Unfortunately many don't get the help they need. Here in the small wisconsin town I live in we lost one just a couple months ago. She was dealing with drug addiction. She went for help and the professionals sent her away. So she took her life with a shotgun. She had a little boy too. Now he's lost his mother.

I dealt with depression as a young person. I related to the feelings expressed in this song. Some have suggested that the lyric "Death greets me warm, now I will just say, goodbye," refers to completing suicide, but for me, I always looked at it as saying goodbye to death, like "not today". But this song helped me to understand that I was not alone in how I was feeling.

Metallica simply had a way like no other of taking you on a journey both lyrically and with their emotional instrumentation. This story is a dive through the mind of an individual who is suffering from some form of severe depression that simply has gotten worse as time passed. “Getting lost within myself” says volumes. Through the song you can feel this individual spiraling downward, losing hope, searching but finding no exits. This song is beauty and tragedy all in one. Metallica were sooooo ahead of their time with this song shedding a light on depression and mental illness. Your reaction captures the pain and raw emotion in the song. I HIGHLY recommend the song “ONE” from Metallica and WATCH the official Video. You will see what true pain is. To anyone suffering from depression, god bless you-please talk to someone. You are never alone. 😌🙏🏼

Indeed mi lovely lady! This classic track of their repertoire literally reminds 'speeded - up" Pink Floyd. With all the tempo changes, build ups, guitar solos by Mr. Kirk Hammet. Not to mention the lyricism, even though the 'topic' is a bit darker. Thinking the guys were just over their 20's at the time when "Ride the Lightning" album was made. The creativity bursts out all of them. Especially from the bass player, the late Cliff Burton, may his soul rest in piece in the Rock 'n' Roll - Heaven... 🤘😇 Neat reaction mi lady. 😉 When you're about to react to Nightwish again????!!!!! Warm greetings from Finland 🇫🇮 🥶 💯 💙 CLIFF THEM ALL*
