This song is a Hell of a lotta FUN to play, especially for getting out any kind of unwanted anger. It is Alternate Picked by the way, he's not straight up Downpicking, I know it looks like it, but it's too difficult to just Downpick that RIFF. Later.

Hetfield may be a down picking master, but even trying to down pick this riff would be a feat, if not impossible (I've played guitar for 12 years myself, and will add to this that I've never attempted to even try down picking this riff. I think many new guitar players struggle with it as-is.) Cheers.

@@brentbowman4498 It is the original I believe, the neck had snapped in half in the 80s and was later repaired. It's the same guitar just different pickups now I believe. It's also typically used with there more thrashier songs, for example, Fight fire with Fire lol

You know, a few years back, it seemed like Kirk was using wah to cover mistakes, but now that he is nailing solos, but still uses wah, the wah sounds very emotive and energetic, and gives it a whole new intensity

I have those picks, and they are incredible (at least for me and my style), but its not just them. He has been taking the guitar really low, which helps with his back problem. He has been practising. But probably most important, he is part of the energy of the band, and isn't slacking his solos cause he really feels like a part of the band.

He always plays it on Fight, Battery, and most of their songs. I can’t think of any older songs off the top of my head that he doesn’t play double bass on. The strange thing is that he doesn’t play it on any Hardwired songs. I would’ve assumed that he’d always play the new songs better than the old ones, but that’s not the case.

This riff is alternate-picked. Contrary to what many people seem to believe, James doesn't downpick literally everything. Downpicking songs like Master of Puppets and Creeping Death is impressive and it's what he's known for, but on songs as fast as this he does indeed use alternate picking as anyone else would.

Master of Puppets and Creeping Death great down picked riffs. I just love Fight Fire with Fire one of my favorite Metallica songs. Probably top three Dyers eve, Fight Fire with Fire and either Justice or The Shortest Straw not sure which depends on what day it is really close on those two for number three. Never saw them live that's on my bucket list.

Have been to a couple Utah Metallica concerts. Most of the fans only recognize a few popular songs off of Black. Enter Sandman comes on and they go crazy. They played Disposable Heroes and nobody even know the fucking song. I was soooo excited to finally hear that one live. The chorus of that song is when I lost my voice that night.
