+multiestonian I try not to fall onto the lars sucks bandwagon, but he's a pretty mediocre performer and drummer. And Justice For All is a really great album in terms of his drumming, but listen to him here. His double bass is alright but the little double bass thing he does before cymbal hits is so clunky. He also fucks up on really simple things which can be really taxing on the other members considering the drummer is supposed to be the foundation and keep the tempo

+Gopa if u watch lars live today he is not that good.. he has zero drum fillers besides a snare roll legit.. he has the skill now of a 16 year old drummer he his very plain and boring for a band that is rock n roll hall of fame material.. how hes still in the band amazes me

Lars is a bad drummer. He WAS good, not great, but he was solid for what his job was. His arranging capabilities are really amazing though, and he has a good ear for music. But now, he kinda sucks at the whole drumming thing. I know it's hard to admit, but honestly just watch him play live anytime after, eh, 2003 ish. He overplays, uses the same fills, has no sense of time anymore, and is just lazy behind the kit. But damn he was (and still is) amazing at creating songs. Some people HATE him for his laziness, but I am just more indifferent towards him. I liked his drumming from 1985-2000, after that it just falls off. I don't hate him for it, I just wish he gave a shit about it.

Actually they were at the Spectrum in December 1988; the second time around (another legal of the same tour) WAS at the Tower Theater. That was the March 12, 1989 show, and my cousin and I were in one of the rearmost rows of the first level. Trust me on that one; I was there.

They also played the Spectrum on April 20, 1986, as openers for Ozzy Osbourne, and I was also at that show; eighth-row floor seats in the center. $50 per ticket at a local ticket agency, if I remember correctly. Cliff Burton was still alive. (He was killed in that horrible bus accident just over 5 months later.) "Master of Puppets" tour. Rough audio for that show popped up on KZbin not very long ago; you can probably still find it there.

The sound recordings on youtube sound very average. They still play with a lot of energy but I wish their mixes sounded nicer. And also I love to be stuck in the past

No doubt man but that’s just how it is. “Time marches on” as James says. I always come back to early Metallica and I am always in awe of how Epic it may have been to be around during this time in metal.

anyone who thinks the first lick in the solo is sweep picked should watch this. he is clearly alternate picking, even back then. he's sloppier now but it seems he always played it this way

Percebe-se que antigamente, a própria qualidade do som das gravações passavam um ar de agressividade na música, hj em dia, o som das gravações são tudo seco, mt puro, por isso amo essas versões antigas, fora que o metallica tava nas melhores épocas

5:00 dude that was death metal as fuck man... metallica is so underrated this days... is like they were great... then they suck for a couple of years and then you forget things like this song and this era... or the Burton era.

Having seen the Mighty Met recently, it pains me to say this but... Lars killed it here. One of my favorite performances by him. His double bass sound was tight af. Except skipping out on the triplets during the solo. Not judging tho. As a long time drummer, gallops on the pedals are notoriously hard, especially at this tempo
