Everyone doubting if Lars played the double bass on the track, here ya go. I've been saying all along, this is right in his wheel house. The drum track could be a motor head song. Lars could play this in his sleep, because this type of drumming is his DNA.

You and the other people who liked your comment have no idea what you’re talking about. Also whoever doubted Lars could play this doesn’t know anything about drums, Lux Æterna is 130 bpm (Allegro) and Battery is 194 (Prestissimo). It’s 2/3 the speed which is significantly slower

I know plenty of great drummers who can't play double bass worth shit, even though they've played tens of years. They either rarely used it or not at all--->so they suck at it. Nicko Mcbrain has said he just can't do it, cause he's played with only a single pedal for too long.

Same here. A lot of armchair-drummers out there saying "Lars didn't record that, he can't play that live etc" ... obviously, yes he can. People forget that the dude literally crushed it on AJFA and created a kick drum sound that everyone wanted to replicate, dude might have gotten lazy for some years but he never forgot how to make an exciting song and has been playing much tighter lately. I swear these dudes change with age, buy somehow they keep things still feeling youthful and fresh.

I remember in the early 80’s when their demo was on 3rd,5th generation cassette tapes..haha, this new record sounds like a crisp modern return to Metallica basics. Never was one of my favorite bands, but this new stuff might have finally won me over, congrats guys on coming in with some fresh and great songs!

Loved first three albums, then never really dug anything else until this. That last record was pretty cool too,but this is fresh, modern yet unmistakably Metallica. Congrats to them at this stage of their career to put out this quality and energy of work, killer!

The pacing on this song live is incredible tbh, these guys in their late 50s still making new music and then killing it live is incredible. Waiting on the next time y’all come to Atlanta, it’ll be a blast to see Met perform 🤘

OMG! How is Lars drumming that fast. I mean I know he is amazing but talking from myself being a drummer that is crazy impressive. James is also still hitting those high notes whilst playing guitar in his 60s. Kirk still being one of my favourite guitarist and Robert going crazy on the bass. Good to see Metallica still together after all these years.

if you listen closly you can hear the crowd singing along and that just shows how well they wrote it seen as how they had not only just released it, but also how well it resonates with the crowd.
