Cliff just died, and Jason comes in to fill the shoes of someone they never wanted gone, so in the ultimate haze and statement that no one could fill Cliff's shoes they turned Jason ALL THE WAY DOWN on his first record with them, thus erasing forever a killer performance on his part. It's so petty... Jason absolutely killed it on this album, as these recordings show. Blackened is sick with bass, and the shortest straw is amazing with the bass... so raw, so heavy. I can't even listen to the original recording anymore...
@shivjeetparthasarathy43777 жыл бұрын
It's real bullshit what they did. They said that Cliff would have wanted them to continue, and then when someone fills his place, they tune him out. If they couldn't really without Cliff gone, they should have waited until they were in a better state of mind, before recording this album.

James and Lars (especially Lars!), ripped something from Jason's heart & soul by removing the Bass lines from ...and Justice for All. As hard as Jason tried, after all those years with Metallica, he was still looked at as just a "hired gun". Imagine having to live with that kind of a stigma, emotionally. No wonder Jason left them in early 2001. I don't blame him for leaving one little bit! He's better off without them!!!

@alejandroramirez44709 жыл бұрын
godzilla964 I know money is probably hard to come by but there are some good ones for a fair price. Good thing you can understand that bass has complexity also. Guitar does seem more extensive in technique though and people just say how similar some of the things between string instruments are. After learning one stringed instrument, more just might seem quicker to learn is what people mean. Some people pick guitar first and some pick bass or whatever else. I do prefer bass I admit but if I planned to learn guitar would be okay too.

+godzilla964 I play bass cause i love it, but i love guitar too, and one day i'll buy one. Anyway it's good to see guitar players that understand the importance of the bass in a band. I don't like guitarts who think that a bass player should do only "tha bass player", in my band there's only one guitarist, and sometimes i have to play guitar parts on bass, and it's good, cause it makes me improve my ability, and it helps to build some kind of respect between bass player and guitarist, i'm learning things from him, and he's learning thing from me. I'm one of that guy that loves to trade place when practicing,especially with the drummer XD

Now the bass is louder than everything else. That's not how it should be either. It should be somewhere in between. But yeah, it's cool to hear what the bass actually does. The bass is definitely not the main instrument in this song so it shouldn't be this loud. But of course it should be louder than on the album. If you have heard their cover of "The Prince", it's basically AJFA sounds but the bass just a bit louder (though it could still be a bit louder).

The reason the bass sounds so loud is because this was not a 'remix', just the master AJFA bass track on the CD version of AJFA.

Old age is old age man. Please don't hate on Lars for it, without him we would be without some of the greatest songs to ever bless this planet.

Jason did not replace Cliff. But Jason gives a different J'e ne c'est pas to Metallica that James and Lars didn't ready for.

It's like listening to an entirely new song. It sounds so much better with the bass turned up. I understand why the bass was practically erased (mourning Cliff Burton) but man, it's a shame that Jason's bass was turned down. I wish that this was the "original version", or at least the version that they used on Guitar Hero 3. That video game is how a young me initially discovered Rock and Metal.

The ending always was mad and frantically, but the bass add EVIL.. real, creeping evil over the madness.

I remember when this album first came out me and my friends used to joke that the bass sounded like bee farts because it was so low in the mix.
