For a full gallery walkthrough - watch : • THE JAMES HETFIELD COL...
In 2019, James Hetfield donated his car collection to the Petersen Automotive Museum. James has always been a car guy and shares his car journey to one of the coolest custom car collections around. Hetfield, has described seeing cars in the same way he sees music: as forms of freedom and expression that convey the passions of their creator.
Best known as a co-founder, songwriter, singer, and guitarist for the heavy metal band Metallica, James Hetfield has also gained recognition in the automotive world for his unique collection of entirely bespoke vehicles. While the vast majority of collectors acquire vehicles by purchasing pre-existing examples, Hetfield elected instead to build his from scratch, channeling creativity often reserved for his music into the production of rolling sculptures.

The guy who played the solo on the first Metal Massacre version of Hit the Lights, Lloyd Grant, is black. He wasn't a full member; he used to jam with Lars while Lars was starting Metallica with James, and he jammed with all of them, but I read in an interview he said it was faster than the stuff he was trying to do at the time. But he was the only guy they knew who could play lead, so he played on that first release.

I think it's just the fact that he sees it as a career and not like he's a god or royalty. He makes music to express himself and to help others. Just like a video game creator makes video games because they love to make people happy and make themselves happy as well. He's even said that when he goes shopping for groceries, some people may not know who he is, and he just waves like everybody else because he knows he's going to live and die like everybody else, money will vanish, and he will go into the earth with no memory of who or what he was, he just enjoys the ride.

Instead of using his fame to sell his cars for a profit to another rich collector, he donates them to the Petersen Automotive Museum! What?! James is a true hero. The only reason I ever wanted to be rich was to restore my old Mopar, but because I'm just a normal working guy, it's long nights of working on my Road Runner and listening to Metallica and balancing my time with family. But I would never exchange what I've learned doing everything myself, you can't replace that with anything. You learn to weld, you learn to work past problems, you learn to use tools you never thought of using. And it makes it so when the house needs repairs or something goes wrong, you just do it yourself and save money. I just hope my car indeed gets done one day and I get to drive it for a few years before time runs out, if you know what I mean. But I'm babbling, so thanks for reading...

It's perfectly respectable to donate them to the Petersen Museum but there isn't really anything wrong with if he sold them to another rich collector. Anyone who can afford something like this has done well, they have every right to enjoy things like this if they spend the money. Again, I respect Mr. Hetfield immensely, but your tone about "another rich collector," as if their anonymity somehow puts them on a lesser plane than Mr. Hetfield is my only disagreement with you.
