Fact of the matter is after writing the song in the studio they need to relearn it for performance. Lars just recently said that this song will probably not be played on the stadium tour and they aren't going to play it until they feel that the performance will be as good as the recorded version.

Sounds like they need a thicker gauge of string for this even though it's in E flat for playing live. But their guitars sound like their strings have too much slack in them, hence the really strange distortion sound. Unless it is Rob's bass sounding like that and overpowering the guitars

They won't be able to craft crazy-ass progressive masterpieces like Blackened anymore. It's simply outside of the realm of possibility. They outdid themselves on Justice, even comparing themselves from back then to the album. That was a stroke of luck to have built such an all-over-the-place record, crazy as it was. The only two songs thay come close are Spit Out the Bone and Lords of Summer (All Nightmare Long and Suicide and Redemption came close, but no cigar). Given that they had trouble playing this just in the tuning room, and they haven't played Lords since they released it most likely, it's really just a sign that they're getting old. But I think if they really try hard. they can get these two songs back ubder their belt and MAYBE, just maybe... the Metallica we know and love can shine once again, or at least once more.
