Imagine Metallica created a song like this on their next record; just a genuinely incredible song. It’s mysterious how artists peak and don’t seem to be able to find that kind of magic again. They haven’t done anything inspired since the black album, but for a short run with master and justice they were untouchable... a timespan of only two years.

The Cthulu image is really cool, but I believe this song is more based on The Nameless City. Nonetheless an awesome tune, I appreciate that you boosted the bass so that it could be appreciated!
@alexzipperer4 жыл бұрын
Guess it's about Cthulhu, even though it has references to the Necronomicon. "Insanity He watches Lurking beneath the sea Great old one Forbidden site" These passages are about Cthulhu without a doubt. "Crawling chaos, underground Cult has summoned, twisted sound Out from ruins once possessed Fallen city, living death" These ones are about the cult trying to wake him up in the corpse city of Ry'leh, which is an underwater city that only appears if there's an specific planet alignment "Timeless sleep Has been upset He awakens" Cthulhu is dreaming eternally, sending messages to the cultists through his (its) dreams, so he can be awaken when the stars are aligned. In the story, he's awakened, but the ritual fails since the cultists are killed by some random seamen and the thing is never completed. As far as I remember, there's no Great Old Ones in Nameless City and no one is lurking beneath the sea, because it is a story set in a desert. The antagonists in this story are reptillian/fish people coming after the main character, but it's open to interpretation if he's really being attacked or if it's just hallucination.

Yet everyone says Cliff would have hated the direction Metallica took. I think he would have gotten tired of fame but he was the more experimental one in the band. Their sound would have changed regardless, but I'm certain that if Cliff had lived OR they let Jason have more creative license their post 80s work would be better. Too many cooks spoiled the stew but no such thing when it comes to writing and recording..

Metallica sound great with louder bass. I feel that Cliff always had his bass so you can hear it. Now days it seems you can't hear Rob unless it a individual or intro. I know this is a bass boost, but I think you could still hear Cliff on the normal tracks.

Okay, I love Metallica and this song and the work done behind this, but to differ a little bit what says in the description, Master Of Puppets was obviously not the heaviest album at that time lmao. There was Reign In Blood, Morbid Visions, Pleasure To Kill and many more albums heavier than MOP. Not saying MoP wasnt heavy, but regarding the amount of thrash (and metal in general) albums released that year, MoP stands in a lower position in terms of heaviness. But hell it made history!
@nicolaemadalinboboc67042 жыл бұрын
Honestly I feel that people really confuse heaviness with being extreme in general when it comes to metal. Reign in Blood and Pleasure To Kill are more agressive and faster, but that does not make them heavier, if anything they sacrifice heaviness for speed and agression.
@madden77322 жыл бұрын
@@nicolaemadalinboboc6704 you've got a point, but still the fact that MOP wasnt the heaviest album at the time stands up.
@nicolaemadalinboboc67042 жыл бұрын
@@madden7732 I would say something like Epicus Doomicus Metallicus was heavier, but overall the extreme thrash at the time was more about speed and extreme vocals.

The bass sounds floppy... Idk I effing love cliff but this sounds sloppy and too guitarish. It would be 1000x better if he follwed the bass drum, use a pick and more palm muting. Imho
@ihatecesar7069 Жыл бұрын
Well, as I do not know the channel creators process for remixing the song, I can only guess he tweaks the EQ and compresses it. So you can hear the little idiosyncrasies of Cliffs personal playing style. But you have to admit, Cliffs style fits the style of music he plays, but I'm not saying that it doesnt fit other "thrash music" p.s. I think it sounds "sloppy" because of the type of strings Cliffs uses. I think you can find out but searching it up his signature Bass guitar from Fender

@@BluGrass-uy4ss Yea that guy probably didn't listen to metallica's other 5 albums, they're all great. Load and reload was full of weird shit like talk boxes, Kirk and James playing different riffs on 2 sides of the track, slapped fretless bass, lots of oriental instruments and generally 2 very underrated albums. St anger was simple as fuck and I just love that snare, combined with the downtuned guitars it just makes you wanna go djent lol. Death Magnetic and Hardwired are just back to the roots and I really appreciate those.
@ChristTheSword4 жыл бұрын
Absolutely. Before they sold out they were untouchable. It's incredible to listen to their compositional prowess prior to Bob Rock. Once they commercialized their sound and went country rock with the Load/Reload disaster, they could never recapture the magic that defined their first four albums.
