McGovney actually talked about how one time he went to a show after he stepped down for Cliff and he said when he tried to go back stage to see the guys everyone blew him off and the bands new manager actually got pissed at him for being there. The only guy that payed him attention and stood up for him? The one and only Cliff Burton. Cliff ripped the manager apart and told him to show some respect to an original member of the band while the others in the band never even said hi. Hope that they've patched their relationship up now and this wasn't just a gimmick. RIP Cliff.

Brooo ... is that Cliff Burton is a god's bread, a capo who had a very unique style and seeing this makes me think and you see her cry, I wish Cliff had been there to hug each member that was changed from The band, I loved that Cliff, not being the original member, had respect for the one who, thanks to McGovney, was able to welcome both Lars James and Dave (although the asshole treated him badly) to make the album that would start the band's trajectory .

I remember being in highschool and everyone in a band was on edge for some reason and would put up walls between themselves and people they felt quit on them.

Hetfield and Tanner were joined by Hetfield's childhood friend and roommate Ron McGovney, and later drummer Jim Mulligan. While Hetfield had played guitar in Phantom Lord, he acted solely as lead vocalist in Leather Charm. Tanner was replaced several months later by guitarist Troy James. When Mulligan left the group in late 1981, Leather Charm disbanded and Hetfield began working with drummer Lars Ulrich on a new project, Metallica. Early the next year, McGovney and guitarist Dave Mustaine completed Metallica's first gigging lineup. So James Hetfield, Ron McGovney, Lars Ulrich and Dave Mustaine are the first original members of Metallica.

As a black man who has LOVED Metallica since 1989 I would have loved to see Lloyd be apart of. I was wondering if anyone else has noticed how much of James’ and Dave’s playing is the same. Watch how they move their left hand. They are the only two guitarists that I have ever seen play that way. Their hands snap from one chord to the next, landing on the chord at the top of the beat. Watch Kirk and Lloyd, they play like any other red blooded american does moving from one chord to the next. I think we have heard great music from metallica and Megadeth, I just wonder what would have happened if James and Dave had continued to write music together

If this was their lineup today, It would be fuckin' epic Mustaine, Hetfield, Hammett and Grant on Guitar Trujillo and McGovney on bass James on Vocals and Mustaine and Trujillo on backing and of course Lars on drums would be a fantastic super-group. If Jason would step in it wouldn't hurt at all either. It's my opinion so please don't come and throw some shitty insults in my face just because you think otherwise. Supergroup Metallica ftw!
