Just here to point out the amazing work that was on mixing and producing to put Enter Sandman, Frantic, W.H. (Sanitarium), Ride the Lightning, Seek & Destroy, One and, their best outro imo, Master of Puppets, right by the end as an homage to the repertoire of one of the biggest bands ever! Great work guys
@Syclone00443 жыл бұрын
5:22 is where it starts. The comment above has the correct order. They play an iconic segment from each song for the duration of one “Wherever I May Roam phrase”, then advance to the next. Anthony even sings “We’re off to never-neverland” for Enter Sandman (the first one). Just put this here because I only noticed it during the final 2: Seek and Destroy, and One. If not for the comment above I wouldn’t have been able to go back and appreciate the rest. It really was a brilliant idea and well executed! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 PS: my favorite Metallica outro ever is by far Fade to Black. I’ve suffered from severe chronic major depression (thankfully managed now with medication finally) and while I always loved Fade to Black and had it among my most played Last.fm track history, I never really knew the lyrics. Then I read a SongMeanings (.com/.net?) about it and someone explained its about suicide, and the outro starting from “Death greets me warm, now I will just say goodbye.... Goodbye.” represents the man’s growing despair and hopelessness. With that in mind, the whole outro took on profound new meaning because I could feel that exactly when I listened to it. Wish I could describe the segments I mean but I can’t think of how to put them into words. But the outro starts with that cool “dooo DOOO dooo dooo da-da-da-da” (x4) then I think repeats x4 more (probably Hetfield playing rhythm) except now Kirk comes in starting his solo, which goes all over high and low, kind of representing the struggles or brief glimpses of hope you might have between the despair, and it builds and builds, feeling all the more futile, until the final crescendo to the most intense part of the solo (containing the 2 fast zig-zag runs up and down the fretboard, and I think fast double-bass drumming from Lars) which to me, is the man reaching his breaking point and finally committing that sad last act.. The rest after that represents the fallout and aftermath.. his body collapsing and organs dying one by one until complete death, the sadness of the tragedy and for his friends and family. I don’t know if that’s exactly what Metallica intended or not, probably close at the very least, but whoever wrote that on SongMeanings nailed it for me. (I wrote this all from vague memory so most of this is my improvisation based on the essence of the original.)
