This was by far the best performance Metallica has ever done. The solos were executed perfectly by Kirk, with an incredible amount of emotion and pain. James Hetfield's vocals sound better than they have in a long time, and Lars isn't doing stupid random fills, and his double bass sounded fantastic. I swear they have gotten much better with age, I can safely say this is probably better than the studio version.

This! Is is my favorite Metallica song..I grew up in the "Enter sandman" area. But this song one is the best.. and in my humble opinion, I haven't heard a version that I could enjoy as much as the record version. But,, they did it here.

And here I am again listening to it on September 30th, 2024. I have so much severe back pain. They are going to fuse me from S1 to T4. Just spoke with my surgeon and I have to wait another 3 months for my bones to get built up so the screws don't work their way out. I refuse to take opioids for the pain. I come here and listen to Fade to Black as many times as I need to until I'm feeling a little better about how shitty my life has become. Hopefully I'll come back in 8 months, with less pain and once again listen to James and the gang fill me with hope and remind me that I'm not the only one out there feeling the feelings I do when I hear this song. To all who can relate, may you be blessed and filled with hope every time you listen to Fade to Black. Always keep fighting. Never give up. 🙏 🖤🤘🖤

This song is what I was listening to when my mother died. I cry everytime at the intro and this 4:34, this part is what keeps me in tears.

The call of guitar wakes me up middle of the night, I was lost in a dark space unexplained to myself at this point ,The past is fading away .All is left is the hope in the darkness to set me free .Set me free SET ME FREE!!!

"Fade To Black" Life, it seems, will fade away Drifting further every day Getting lost within myself Nothing matters, no one else I have lost the will to live Simply nothing more to give There is nothing more for me Need the end to set me free Things not what they used to be Missing one inside of me Deathly lost, this can't be real Cannot stand this hell I feel Emptiness is filling me To the point of agony Growing darkness taking dawn I was me, but now he's gone No one but me can save myself, but it's too late Now I can't think, think why I should even try Yesterday seems as though it never existed Death greets me warm, now I will just say goodbye
