There is a lot going on in today's video. I don't have the time or energy to make videos on each individual part so I just lump everything together in one video so you can get a glimpse of what my days are like and the variety of things I do.
I have Scott's cylinder head finally finished and the valve job came out great. Each valve was lapped into the seat for a perfect fit and liquid tight seal. This AMC Jeep 258 cylinder head is ready for cleaning and assembly.
Next I have a Jeep T18 transmission on the bench and a 208 transfer case sitting next to it. I am trying my best to get back on the Jeep J20 pickup truck project and this will help me get one step closer. I am going to adapt the Jeep T18 to the NP 208 with a new mainshaft and adapter kit. The transmission is in remarkable shape and I am happy to have such a good unit to start with.
A quick look at a Willys L6-226 engine that I have to get out of the shop. It is for sale and it came out of a running truck that had this engine replaced with a Chevy 350 engine. The mice did get into the bellhousing so that will need attention.
On to the U bolt bending dies that I made for the Dana 70 and custom Dana 44 axles. I like to make my own U bolts so I can control the material used and the quality of the bending. I did make a few test bends and checked the fit and I am now ready to begin bending the actual U bolts that I will use on these axles.
At this point in the day the weather is good enough to begin painting the Willys CJ2A body tub and all other body parts. I am laying down some OD green on this CJ2A and trying to keep a wet edge because it is so warm out. I am using an Iwata spray gun and have the slowest reducer mixed to keep this paint from drying too fasts. Lots of work to keep everything looking good and you can see the results.
A few minutes left in the day so I am getting serious about finally cutting the axle shafts for the custom, shortened Dana 44 that I am building. The 4340 material is ready to go and the dividing head is set up. The cutters that I had made are finally on some arbors and I should be ready to cut the splines very soon if I can get a free moment with no distractions.
Shop is busy and chicken processing has started so free time is in short supply. More videos coming on a variety of Willys, Jeep, Farming and hopefully soon new building construction.

do you have a video explaining in full detail the seps you take to paint? what primers you use, do you sand between priming and color? etc etc. I am getting ready to paint my jeep like you have done big space to work in but I am not 100% sure on paints to go for (maybe something I dont have to clear coat) would appreciate your help. it is a black omix body but I plan on random orbital sanding the body

I have many, many painting videos from start to finish. One thing that is very critical if using a repro tub or parts is to sandblast down to clean metal. the primer they use WILL FAIL 100% of the time. Most guys don't take it off and are super pissed off when the paint job flies off when driving down the road. Sandblast to clean metal. EPOXY prime everything Regular primer or high build next. Sand primer Epoxy Sealer Single stage urethane or base coat for base clear setup. Spray 2 to 3 coats and let dry.

Hi Brian, I wish I would have spoke up earlier, it would have been nice to see the Nv4500 get rebuilt. I would very much like to see the T18 rebuild and adaptation to the 208 t-case. To be honest I want to see all the stuff you do. I’ve learned so much from you and your channel. I wish I lived near you so that I could learn more, and help! Thank you for all you share with us! You are our Jeep guru!!! God bless you and your family.

Not many people like to see or watch the stuff I do so I sometimes ask if anyone wants to see upcoming projects. didn't get a single comment about the NV4500 so I just rebuilt it and moved on to next project. I don't think it is too much to ask for input from my viewers but don't often get any response.

How do you paint the fasteners after you assemble the completed painted Jeep. I had all my parts painted locally then I assembled. Now I have to figure out a way to paint the nuts and bolts.

you can easily paint them with a small brush. I usually assemble things with epoxy primed bolt heads. Then just mix some paint and touch up with a small brush

Would absolutely like to see you make a video of rebuilding a Hurricane engine, or whatever other projects that you have around, you always do a nice quality job on what ever projects you are involved in and I absolutely enjoy the content, Been watching your KZbin channel for several years now and the only issue I have is that I wish some of your videos were longer, I'm pretty sure that I speak for many people when I say keep up the great work, and making your videos, thank you.

Proper prep is the first step to a good paint job. Laid the green over some epoxy sealer and it laid down perfectly
