MetaTune: Why No Graphic Editor? 🤷🏽‍♂️

For years we've been trained to think that automatic tuners need a graphic editor-a piano roll interface that lets you adjust the pitch of each note individually.

Boy I wish that note stabilizer had a slider between those values of none, shirt, med, long...and I wish it was automatable. Then you could just turn the value to exactly where the flutter went away, and just on the problematic phrases.

Pretty cool... But if you have to make multiple fixes, breaking each one into another track or automation seems a bit inefficient. But perfect if it just needs a touch or two.

If you have your scale set in the plugin, the stabilizer tames the flutter between each neighboring note to the desired note (within the scale) that the performer is hitting the most. Flutter notes are usually very quick with little-to no-sustain so it’s easy for the plugin to realize what note is supposed to have priority.

Agreed, based off the demo I think it's definitely better than other auto tuners, but replacing the graphical editor still seems extreme from the sample. Especially if you want a more natural sounding tune. I'd be curious to hear the modes a little more and see if it does what I want. I have a feeling it will be 90% there. It would be awesome if the autotune would auto-map to a graph so minor adjustments in certain areas could be made if needed. Also having the ability to change transition speeds for different phrases would be nice to do without having to chop up the vocal and use different instances of the tuner.

@@_inthefold I use melodyne pretty much daily. I do think there are some advantages to the tracking in metatune though that would make edits quicker if it mapped to a graphical editor. The whole marketing point here is that this will replace the need for a graphical tuner in most cases, and my point was I feel like Im not ready to ditch melodyne for this yet. I still think a graphic interface is needed in most situations to fix a few minor things if I'm not going for the hard tune sound.

Hi @@Liveforent. I'm 100% in agreement with you. Nowhere in my comment does it preclude that great music can come out of a home studio. My criticism is directed at the video demo. It felt like it was done in a rush & the demonstration & claim that accompanies the note stabilizer doesn't paint a very good image of the product. I'm sure with more fine-tuned settings it can give a better sounding result. I'll be trying it out on my next few projects and having fun with it as I'm sure you would too! Cheers
