Just a short practice session with commentary, using only the most fundamental elements of rope dart/meteor hammer play. Basic is good. It is not unlike anything else that requires dedication to learn, in that the foundation is what all the rest is built upon.
I am guilty of trying to do too much too fast at the beginning too. It doesn't speed up progress. It actually slows it down. The fastest way to do this kind of thing is, ironically, to slow down and take the time to get good at what you're already doing, rather than always looking to do more.
Complex is cool and all. Fast is bedazzling. But solid and simple are the most important.
