Metering Modes Explained! Why does it MATTER?

Metering modes is very important to get correct exposure in Photography. There are different metering modes which helps the Camera to guess the correct exposure. In this video, I talk about Matrix Metering, Spot Metering and Center Weighted Metering which are the basic metering modes present in all the cameras.

It's simple. For portraiture and product photography, use the spot metering mode. For landscapes, use matrix metering mode or, when you want to highlight a subject in your landscape, use spot or center weighted metering mode.

What's "matrix" metering on Canon ? I only have Evaluative, Partial, Dpot, and Center.

It would probably be evaluative because it's looking at the whole scene.

metrix - default, mostly correct way to go. spot -shooting birds or other smaller things in the scene. center -if something or a person in middle is important and wants to ignore background

I have an 80D. Spot metering actually shows a circle in the center.. i got confused when i saw this. Even i was expecting that SPOT should meter at the focused point, but it isn't - it shows a circle in the center and it meters for the center. Then i wonder how is it diff from Center weighted. Any comments?

The spot is very small, like a literal point in the center. Center weighted is a larger circle

Taking pictures at the car wash soon. I just switched to center-weight. We shall seee..... The "garage" of the wash is dark, but the outside is so bright. My images kept coming out dark. Hoping this will be the solution.
